Celine Dion - May 6th - London

 

Overall, not the best Celine Dion concert I have ever been to. That honour still lies with Edinburgh 1999. However, this was a truly brilliant concert with Celine's voice on top form. Throughout the entire concert she continued to belt out song after song almost without any let up. Make no mistakes, her voice was on top form here. No complaints at all. In terms of a concert experience however several things were lacking, most notably Celine's trademark speeches. They were almost absent. One short "it's nice to be in London" speech, then later a "I always do at least one song in French" and then the speech regarding "My Love." That was literally it and I felt some of my own personal enjoyment of the show was lost as a result. Where was the speeches about sightseeing in London? The new album? Spending 5 years in Las Vegas? Sadly she wasn't in a chatty mood this night it seemed.

 

The songs, overall the set list is very strong however there are still some glaring things they need to fix in my opinion. Now don't get me wrong I enjoyed the whole concert but as Celine fans we're always looking for perfection aren't we? "Eyes On Me" just doesn't work live. At least not with the arrangement and tempo they are performing it at just now. It's just too slow. And once again I state my desire for the mini Barnev concert to be binned. Just who is interested in this? Moreover "We Will Rock You" is plainly embarrassing but in stark contrast "The Show Must Go On" is just outstanding. The new songs are yet to gel with the crowds but highlights for me personally were "Alone", "Fade Away" and "My Love." Celine had the audience hooked during the old classics though. You could hear a pin drop during "My Heart Will Go On" and "All By Myself" for example.

 

Overall though a stunning concert in a truly stunning setting. Celine's voice was just incredible and once again reminded me why I have followed her all over the world. Next stop Paris.

 

One last word of warning though on the TeamCeline seats.......certainly they are the closest, but by no means the best. Those are reserved for the seats either side of the runway.

Thanks for the reviews and such! As for the shaving of the arms, that`s rediculous! And if she shaves them the hair will grow back really thick! plus I don`t know anyone who dosn`t have any hair on thier arms.

I to was at the O2 Arena on tuesday, and although I really enjoyed the whole show, I agree with some of the others that she didnt really interacte with and speak with the audience much.

 

Her voice and performance were on top form, but you kinda get that personal touch if you hear a few words and speeches.

 

That said, Im still gonna take in a show somewhere else before the tour ends!

Seriously, I think I know only one or two women who shave or wax their arms...it's just not something a lot of people do. Celine's aren't even that noticeable anyway. I think she looks fine, totally beautiful. I find the whole concept of shaving somewhat weird, when I think about it. I mean, I do it, but why do we do it? It's a natural thing when hair grows on us, why do we leave it on our heads but remove it from other places?

Hello All,

 

Tuesday's show at the o2 was my first Celine concert.... and it won't be the last! I was totally blown away at how amazing her voice was and what an enjoyable show was performed. I'll write up a more indepth review in the next few days or so. I took many pics and quite a few videos.

 

Please could someone post Tuesday's setlist. Thankyou and thanks so much for whoever posted the mp3's a lovely added bonus of the evening.

You can't base your judgment on the mp3's, really!! They are great and clear recordings, but probably due to volume equalization or something the whole upper register and "arena" effect of her voice was completely stripped out of the mp3's. She sounded nothing like that live, her voice was powerful, rich, and flawlessly smooth.

I was not in a Tem Celine seat and I think I am very grateful for that. I was in row Z on Block 111, the back row of the lower tier. Although not quite as close to the stage the view from above far exceeded that enjoyed by most of the audience on the ground floor. And being at the back of the block meant nobody complained when I stood up...
