Chantemoi, the fact that you are not a US citizen doesn't mean you can't make negative comments about the government or to donate money! Should Celine take here 1 million dollar donation back because she is not American? And why are Americans allow to critize anything else in this world (ie. Iraq) and kill for it? And should all countries sending food and water to the US stop sending anything because they are not American? Just wondering... Go Celine Go! We stand by you and hopefully Americans will realize that there is nothing wrong about making a statement such as yours. I agree they don't have to like it, but everyone is entitled to their opinion!

Thanks for the Larry King interview from CNN. I cried as Céline cried because this whole thing is devistating. I also liked it when Larry asked Céline how she explained it to RC? She said that she told him that there is a storm and the people will get better. And they will get better. One thing I'm shocked at is why she said that her 1 million dollar check won't be worth anything. Then Larry came back and said that it will be helpful, and he's right about that. All the money that these people donate is gonna be helpful as the days go by.

Celine refused to be interviewed about the CNN issue. Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight tried to interview her, but Rene said that she already said what she had to say. Bravo, Rene!

Céline Dion a refusé toute entrevue depuis les déclarations émotives qu'elle a faites le week-end dernier à l'émission Larry King Live sur CNN.

Pressée de toutes parts pour répéter ses commentaires, la chanteuse a préféré retourner dans l'ombre. Les émissions artistiques Access Hollywood et Entertainment Tonight, notamment, ont tenté leur chance, mais en vain.

 

Selon son attachée de presse à Las Vegas, Céline ne regrette aucunement ses propos accusateurs envers l'administration Bush sur sa lenteur à réagir après le passage de l'ouragan Katrina.

 

Son gérant et mari René Angélil estime que Céline a dit ce qu'elle devait dire et qu'elle n'a pas à expliquer davantage.

My bet is that Rene figured that the press was hoping Celine would do another interview so that she would respond the same way she did on Larry. And if she was to have a repeat of the Larry interview on every other show out there Celine would end up looking foolish and the media would turn on her. Rene's a smart man and I'm glad he's taking care of Celine like this.

think about how the Dixie Chicks comments back a few years ago

really caused their career to hit rock bottom and I am so worried

about this happening to Celine! Do you think (honestly!) this will

affect her career...will this turn a lot of people against her?

I was very happy to hear (on that video Flash from this week) he is proud of her for saying all that.

Now he is going to protect her from any mistake or any misunderstanding. What she said is said already and no need to explain anything.

I don't think it will have anything negative.

When it happened to Dixie Chicks, it was a whole different thing. They said something like they were ashamed to come from the same state as president Bush (or am I wrong?) and this is a very bad thing to say, it was not smart from them at all.

Céline did not attack president Bush himself, she did not even say his name. All she did was standing out for those people still waiting for rescue and dying without water.

I even think this made people respect her even more.

I'm not too worry about it.. first of all Celine has a large family to be proud of her, love her and support her all the way... second of all Celine cannot please them all, she can never please the whole world of what she say on Larry King Live....

 

but True fans stay and support her no matter what.... and i am one of those fans...

I was reading the Il Divo-forum yesterdaynight to see if there was news about the duet with Céline, and to my surprise the messages totally turned in another direction... All messages were about Céline's appearance in Larry King and everyone was very supportive. Many people said Céline had won their respect and they were really impressed by her. Very good to see!

This should not affect Celine's popularity. What happened with the Dixie Chicks was completely different. In regards to Celine, she said what she had to say without any finger pointing, immature comments, or singling out anybody, unlike what that loser Kanye West did, and unfortunately because he's a rapper he's getting #1 hits now as a result of it.

 

I don't think Celine has to worry about any backlash, especially since radio won't play anything that doesn't include a rapper anymore. AC will stick by her.

And who's partially decayed mug should I see, but that of Larry King. And to make matters worse, he was talking to Celine Dion.

 

She bawled via satellite about the dying children and told Larry that she's giving a million of her own dollars to the Red Cross. For the first time ever, Celine Dion is on television and I'm not mocking her. Instead, I'm crying with her. I'm not even making fun of her for advertising her act of charity shamelessly on national TV...or even that tacky shirt she's wearing. Celine Dion is suddenly a compassionate voice of reason. But before I start checking for more evidence that the world is ending, Larry interrupts her to request that she sing a song. At this point my entire household, cats included, crowded around the television to see if Celine Dion would become my hero and hand Larry King his #ss. But no, she wiped her tears away and sang like the consummate performer she is. It was a repugnant moment of television.

 

Finally this week The Daily Show with Jon Stewart came back on TV and said what I'd been thinking, but smarter and funnier than I could put it. Stewart talked me through the Celine Dion episode, making it a punch line rather than a reason to believe that Larry King is a reanimated corpse with the capability to suck my brains out through the television. He introduced the clip with Dion, adding, "It (appeared) that her heart might, in fact, not be able to go on," and followed up Larry King's song request with Stewart doing his best grizzled King impersonation: "Something snappy. Yeah, something, you know, kinda up tempo."
