Celine's sure to make many headlines with her speech. Many have found a new respect for her. CNN played part of her speech today, one of the anchorman was shocked afterwards. He seemed to wanted to criticize Celine but kinda backed off. Did anyone else catch it? :glare:

Of course some poeple will criticize. Not everyone will agree (especially Bush supporters lol) but they surely will talk about it and discuss her dare to speak it out.

The matter is: she really spoke her mind, opened her heart, was honest ans true.

Like it or not, she did it and people not respect her for that.

Céline's response was moving and shocked me. I held back the tears because in my area, the stations keep on showing a man who lost his wife. Between the tears he said she couldn't hold on to him because of exhaustion. She told him to take care of the children and slipped into the raging water. It's a haunting image

Remember when Céline wouldn't accept the Juno bec fellow Quebecers criticitized her for singing in English? Céline always had strong views but prefers not to be controversial. She's a passionate person who wouldn't let Larry King cut her off-I have great respect for her emotional plea. It was unscripted and her words were from the heart then and now.

After last night I wonder if we are going to see a different Céline in her new book, "For Keeps".

Her candor did make an impact on people who don't like her music.

Read some of the posts, many say they have a new respect for the woman!

Celine on AFP news:

Celine Dion, Harry Connick slam N. Orleans suffering, as Sean Penn sinks

Sun Sep 4, 7:11 PM ET

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - An emotional     Celine Dion rounded on US authorities over their slow rescue effort in hurricane-crippled New Orleans, while actor     Sean Penn's personal crusade to save victims took on water.

Movie star and political activist Penn, 45, was in the collapsing city to aid stranded victims of flooding sparked by Hurricane Katrina, but the small boat he was piloting to launch a rescue attempt sprang a leak.

The outspoken actor had planned to rescue children waylaid by the deadly waters, but apparently forgot to plug a hole in the bottom of the vessel, which began taking water within seconds of its launch.

When the boat's motor failed to start, those aboard were forced to use paddles to propel themselves down the flooded New Orleans street.

Asked what he had hoped to achieve in the waterlogged city, the actor replied: "Whatever I can do to help."

But with the boat loaded with members of the Oscar-winner's entourage, including his personal photographer, one bystander taunted: "How are you going to get any people in that thing?"

Penn's ill-fated mercy mission came after Canadian diva Dion, famed for her theme song from the watery epic Titanic, became extremely upset as she spoke of the plight of the survivors who had to wait for up to five days to be rescued.

"I open the television, there's people still there, waiting to be rescued, and for me it's not acceptable," she said on CNN television's Larry King Live late Saturday.

"I know there's reasons for it. I'm sorry to say I'm being rude, but I don't want to hear those reasons," she said of the delayed relief effort that has prompted virulent criticism of the US government.

Dion has donated one million dollars to the victims of the storm that wrought catastrophe on the US Gulf Coast after hitting Monday and sparking a deadly flood of the US jazz capital of New Orleans.

Officials say thousands of people are feared killed in New Orleans where tens of thousands of survivors had to wait up to five days for military convoys and airlift planes to get into the city to rescue them.

Many died in overcrowded makeshift shelters set up in the city's Superdome stadium and convention center as they waited for help to arrive.

Dion also slammed authorities for arresting looters in the city that became a hellish haven of crime and violence after the storm laid waste to its infrastructure and services, saying rescue should be the only priority.

"How come it's so easy to send planes in another country to kill everyone in a second, to destroy lives?" Dion said in an angry reference to the US-led war in     Iraq.

So wonderful people payed attention to what she said there! :)

The only point to critisize her for some snob people is her over emotional condition that night. But still she did say all that she wanted and needed to say. Respect to her all the way from good people all over the world.

Bravo, Celine!

Who knows where the road will lead us, only a fool would say...

I've seen all positive responses... excluding 1 or 2 people.

I'm sure negative stuff will come out. Not everyone will agree with her. But honestly I don't care.

What matter here is that she raised her voice and used her chance to speak out and just told the truth!

God bless her, I'm so proud.

J'aimerais tant savoir

Souffler comme le vent

Sur ton doux visage

Faire partir le noir, disparaître le temps

Casser les nuages

Parler même tout bas

Juste pout toi et moi

De petits riens

Mais là-bas

Au loin, tu nages...

Celine Dion Donates $1 million; Slams Bush's Policy On CNN

During an interview on CNN's Larry King Live, singer Celine Dion announced she will donate $1 million to Hurricane Katrina disaster relief.

During an interview on CNN's Larry King Live, singer Celine Dion announced she will donate $1 million to Hurricane Katrina disaster relief. Dion and her partners of her Las Vegas show, A New Day, have pledged $1 million US to aid the disaster victims.

But, according to the singer, the victims don't yet need money. "Eventually, they will need that money - in three months, in six months, they will need that money. Right now, they're praying for water."

Dion broke into tears when she spoke about the disaster from New Orleans, and accused Bush's policy of being more interested in the Middle East than its own backyard.

'How come it's so easy to send planes in another country, to kill everyone in a second, to destroy lives," at a time when Americans need to serve their own country, she said.

"We need to serve our country, and be there right now to rescue the rest of the people. We need the cash, we need the blood, we need the support, right now we need the prayers."

"Oh, they're stealing 20 pair of jeans or they're stealing television sets. Who cares? They're not going to go too far with it. Maybe those people are so poor, some of the people who do that they're so poor they've never touched anything in their lives. Let them touch those things for once," Dion added.

Celine said she was very impressed when she saw the images of thousands of people in urgent need of assistance. "I open the television, there's people still there waiting to be rescued and for me it's not acceptable. I know there's reasons for it. I'm sorry to say I'm being rude but I don't want to hear those reasons."

I have no words...I have never seen Celine cry or be that emotional and it was very powerful. She meant every word and congrats to her for singing at the end, and what power she has to be going on stage 20 mins after that too.
