New French Single: Dansons - 17 April, 2026

The year is 2026, and Celine fans are still craving that worldwide smash hit, at least since 2002 😅

It’s not going to happen… at least not because of anything Celine or her team does. If it does happen, it’ll be pure luck, a viral moment no one planned or predicted, coming out of nowhere.

I’m usually bothered by her team’s lack of creativity when it comes to promoting her work, but this time, everything was done well. “Dansons” was never going to be a smash hit, as beautiful as it is.

Celine is already in the best place a legacy artist can be: selling out concerts in seconds.This is as good as it gets.

Personally, for me a global hit would be awesome (it’s technically possible to have a Cher “Believe” moment)… but I really don’t care.

What I do care about is the team acting like they give a damn. Whethet that is posting on social medias, opening the damn vault, or god forbid honor her work with anniversary vinyls that have something to offer the fans other than a color…. I’m not an idiot and know that our relationship  with the team is “transactional” but by god at least be like other teams and try to fool us that you give a s*** 😂

This! Having a global hit would be so much fun. But selling out in seconds just proofs that she doesn't need it. It's only more fun for the fans that big hit. Her team is another story, celebrate the sold out shows, her new song whatever.

They really tried to gain attention the last months throughout the new social media videos, but now that they got what they wanted they just ignore us again.

I don't know why everyone wants Céline to be a disco queen at 58.

She's achieved major fame and has received many accolades.

I'd much rather this part of her career be her trying new genres and enjoying herself.

I have a little feeling, I think the second single will come out in June/July, Céline will travel to Paris, do a few fashion week events and promote the song with a few interviews and some TV performances. I don't know if its a feeling or a wish, but somehow possible (?)

The government might be happy about it, but they don't have to push very hard. The media is covering this because the demand is objectively massive.

Look at the presale numbers for La Défense. Editors run Celine stories because they get clicks and sell papers, not because they’re waiting for a directive from the Ministry of Tourism

Hotel bookings during the residency increased by 900%. Restaurants and museums will automatically benefit as well. According to various sources, the projected economic impact for the Île-de-France region ranges from €180 million to €500 millions. The French government didn't have to lift a finger.
 

Céline's March 30th message was broadcast on France 2, the public television channel, despite her usual partnership with TF1, but to my knowledge, the only political commentary came not through the media but from an opposition member in the Senate, criticizing the cap on ticket sales taxes (while simultaneously legitimizing the "outpouring of love" for Céline 😁).
 

I believe the privatization of the Eiffel Tower was only possible because of these anticipated benefits, and that the broadcast of the message by France 2 was one of the conditions. This perhaps foreshadows a program on public television !
 

But in any case, tourism promotion is 100% Céline's work. If RC loses the family’s fortune at poker, she can always find a new job at the tourist office 😂 I mean, she already worked for Air Canada

However, after the first week, it was obvious that most media outlets were exploiting Céline's news for their own gain. And  it's rather mediocre... In my opinion, it's more likely to discredit her by associating her with a lack of professionalism.

I listen to it all the time and don't get bored at all. Seems I love it even more after each day of listening haha. Such a easy listening, positive feeling to it

I have listened to the song hundred times.

It s not bad, but it s not a song for a come-back.the tempo is too slow. It s like "la mémoire d abraham". A beautiful song but not for a single. 

The voice is very good, so better than we could expect after having seen "Love Again" recording or the Serge Fiori hommage.which was hard to listen to. But some words are very hard to understand like "vide" because her mouth seems very closed. I wonder if JJG listened and said ok to it. Also, I don t like the way she sings "pour tous les immobiles". It s raspy, fragile. I prefer the way she sings "ce soir il y a bal" or "parce que toi et moi". This is her 💖

What we can see is that she has worked very hard to sing again, and she succeeded. The voice is equal , or better than on the Encore un soir album. 

I m french but I m more interested in listen to her in english again. I hope she comes back with a song like " I ll be" (musicaly,  not the lyrics). It would be so much more better than Dansons which is a little "sad".

Well well well .... I wouldn't make any comment on that statement, especially regarding where you are from.

To be honest it was too much of "Céline" during the two weeks after the announcement. I mean, it was all the time, even on shows that has nothing to do with music. At work, at the restaurant. I have to say that as a fan it was too much, so I guess for people who do not care of Celine or worse, do not like her, it was far too much.

About the Eiffel Tower, it wasn't any privatization at all. It was just lightings. I mean, what was exceptional once, is now very common.  Paris light up the Eiffel Tower for everything so why not for Celine's comeback. It does not cost much.

Plus, this mediatic circus participated to the hysteria around the tickets. Everyone wanted to to go and see Céline while they did not care for her so far. But it was like a Graal to get :  okay maybe it's the last time we can see this icon so let's go". The real fans had to suffer from this mediatic stuff at the end of the day.

By the way I read in previous messages Celine would attend Fashion weeks, well, I think Celine would be very, very careful with everything that can affect her health and would focus on being able to performe the complete run of 16 events instead of wandering around. Imagine she shows off everywhere and have then problems and cancel shows, it would make a very bad buzz.

I checked yesterday at 20:45 and it was at 4,684,211 and then again today at 20:45 the views were up to 5,039,100!

Yes, I saw. Hopefully it recovers. Strangely (or perhaps not strangely, I don’t know), it tends to get the most views during the evening and nighttime in Europe.

However, I read on UKMIX Forum that it's #6 in French i-tunes after France 2 aired a special on Celine yesterday night.

After 2 weeks, I have to admit that Dansons did not have the longevity I believed it would have, even for me. I'm sure it's gonna work a lot better live (just like Je t attendais), but it feels it lacks sth; it doesn't have that sth extra that would make me stick to it. (don't get me wrong, I had it in 3 different Playlist, it even got in my often streamed songs) but I think this happened more because I missed her voice, than the actual quality of the song. Given that, I think this explains a lot it's streaming - viewership numbers. Simultaneously, I think that's why it was chosen: a slow, modest start, like a reassuring gift to the fans and that's it (no lyric video, no heavy promotion, no interview, not even a small tik tok of celine talking about the song). Ps. All these are said without whining. Just a narrow down of my experience with the song.

It wasn't really a special, but a weekly program dedicated each week to a different personality ("20h30 le dimanche"). Last night's episode had record viewership and a high audience share compared to other channels (24,4 %). I think France 2 will continue this series until a proper special is broadcast.

You didn’t jinx it, Celine and the team did. You can’t not lift a finger for any kind of promotion and expect a hit.
