Nmj Posted June 14, 2024 at 09:10 AM Posted June 14, 2024 at 09:10 AM Yeah, she seems taken by Celine and what she's going through. As a sidenote, interesting promotional strat they're using here, using popular hosts as surrogate promoters. Team Celine is sleeping away, Amazon has basically been mute so far, I honestly think this approach Celine is using by do this media day and all of it being released on the back of each other is LESS about promoting the doc and more about letting Celine talk about her illness and then end each interview with her “I’ll be back on stage” attitude. This is partly educating the world on SPS, partly Celine “explaining herself” about the last 4-5 years and why she had to cancel all the shows she did. The public has a short term memory and needed to made aware. I honestly think this approach is about talking about so that then she can formally announce a return date. Everything seems to have been calculated since the beginning with Celine, from starting to emerge and be seen at hockey games and concerts, to bigger, the Grammys; to interviews to what’s next?! Sounds strategic to me. Quote
scielle Posted June 14, 2024 at 10:21 AM Posted June 14, 2024 at 10:21 AM (edited) Amazon has basically been mute so farWhat do you mean, Amazon organized this entire press junket we’re now seeing. An Amazon crew filmed those interviews, according to JP Dion. (I’m guess that’s to reduce the turn-around and revolving door of techs around Celine & make it less stressful on her). Anyway, CBC radio keeps playing an audio version of this story during their newscasts this morning - it’s the one focused on rare diseases and the difficulty of diagnosing them, and how there’s hope Celine sharing her story will shine light on the issue. But I was specifically talking about the social media pages.Ah.I don’t know specifically about Hoda, but in one of the CBC radio pieces Adrienne did yesterday, she spoke specifically about how before it was her turn, all the techs there - camera, lights, sound people - were telling her how kind Celine is, how she takes the time to get to know them, etc. So it seems the CBC interview was also recorded by the “house crew”. LukeD Posted June 14, 2024 at 10:56 AM Posted June 14, 2024 at 10:56 AM (edited) How nice it would have been if Celine was able to do some promo for 'Love Again' last year like she does for this documentary now. Strange she hasn't mentioned the film at all. Edited June 14, 2024 at 10:57 AM by LukeD 1 Quote

Well it didn't do so well or gets the greatest reviews so maybe everyone does want to "forget" it. 1 Quote 'I am, in life and death, the woman of only one man.' Celine Dion My Story, My Dream

kaye2023 Posted June 14, 2024 at 11:24 AM Posted June 14, 2024 at 11:24 AM Yeah I don't think it was a good chapter in her career. It was low value as her cinematic debut. Who the heck voted for that on her team. If I could choose where she'd cameo, I'd choose... Knives Out lol a bit role with quality cast names, a little eccentric storytelling, good mix of humor and mystery, not too heavy but not goofball. If a romance, at least one with better casting, not a B/C-movie. Her fabulous 2017 Vogue video will always crack me up. Such campy drama potential. 3 Quote

PuraVida Posted June 14, 2024 at 07:21 PM Posted June 14, 2024 at 07:21 PM The BBC interview wasn't really anything special to write home about, but she did give us more vocals. I don't think Celine connected as much with the interviewer as the other ones, but I did appreciate some of the questions...including what Celine thinks of the current music scene. Well, the question was more specifically about "whisper pop" and Billie Eilish, but still. 1 Quote

scielle Posted June 15, 2024 at 12:18 AM Posted June 15, 2024 at 12:18 AM She came off like a trivial entertainment reporter. Lacked the gravitas necessary for this kind of conversation. BBC misjudged it, should have sent someone else. 2 Quote

If theres anything positive with the BBC interview, it’s that there’s a bit more Gen-Z interest knowing Céline is a “Billie Stan” But yeah, kinda surprised at the quality of reporter though. You’d think they’d send their best reporter from London who can really probe and bring out the best of Céline. Maybe the variety will bring out different demographics beyond the countries they’re from with each focusing on a different angle and audience to the doc? Quote

CelinesDIVO5 Posted June 15, 2024 at 05:35 AM Posted June 15, 2024 at 05:35 AM The thing is, She's singing quite beautifully, but I hear the "classical celine" with this nasal voice she's referring to since having issues. While when she wants to mimic and show how she was singing nasal, it's just not that Her voice is in better shape now, and she wasn’t having a spasm while trying to explain what she was talking about. She was simply pushing her voice through her nose to show how the tone is much different than when she is able to use her diaphragm and chest. 2 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay
CelinesDIVO5 Posted June 15, 2024 at 05:37 AM Posted June 15, 2024 at 05:37 AM I noticed the editing in the Hoda interview seemed choppy and awkward. Honestly, rewatching it it’s quite unbearable. Add to that the closeups of Hoda making weird performative faces, like she’s more concerned about how she looks on camera than asking intelligent questions. The CBC interview is much, much better. Not only does it flow in a more comprehensible way, I happen to like Adrienne’s personality a lot more. The podcast version flows much better. It was exceptionally well done. Also, the editing felt more natural and choice of archival footage were much better than the NBC interview. The combination of Céline's openness and Adrienne's sincere and good journalism created fantastic chemistry. In contrast, the BBC interviewer's approach seemed unworthy. Perhaps this was the best English interview Céline has ever given? Exciting times are ahead, and I'm thrilled about it! 1 Quote
