Céline has Stiff-Person Syndrome

I agree, although she very visibly had health issues at the start of 2019 too. Not to mention previous health issues that we knew about. All adds up now.

Yeah I am not saying she wasn't suffering yet, but my guess is that the adrenaline kept her going for years, making the symptoms less apparent. It did go rather quick tho. When you look at photo's from 2017 she looked so good! Like she found herself again. 2018 she still looked great but in 2019 she started to look so thin and fragile. She blamed that on the ballet at the time, not know it was this syndrome from hell she was going to face. :ranting:

Either way, I am praying she is doing better, or at least is finding a way to cope with the decease. I am longing for a word from her. Even if it's just to say hi. I hope she knows how much we miss her.  :flowers:

How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

Not saying it was related to her (oncoming) disease, but watching some videos from the Courage World Tour was maybe the first time I ever felt like Celine's vocals were not up to her standards. I know there is age and all the rest of it, but it just seemed like she needed a break.

I totally agree, had the same feeling whatching CWT.

She was looking so good in 2017 and her voice was on fire. In 2019 she was really thin and looked like something was not right with her health. It was such a big difference… I think, but I don’t know off course, that she was suffering already but they did not know why.

you ppl must be blind , I saw her about 6 or 7 time on the CWT and thought she looked Great

Maybe it had to do with the court case and a big fuss in her personal businesses. After Rene passed she is now the only one responsible for her empire and it might have stressed her out

I believe the thinness in 2019 was a big factor in this. She looked shocking. And the body wasting away. I think it was the start.

Agreed - she looked so strong by the time she was in the groove of the tour. She looked frail in early 2019.

It's very likely that Céline had been suffering from the relatively mild symptoms of SPS for years, but it was possible to manage them well. I've quoted it before; here a 56-year-old patient confesses after being diagnosed : “Looking back, I can see that I had a milder version of the symptoms most of my life” (https://www.happiesthealth.com/articles/neurology/stiff-person-syndrome?fbclid=IwAR0dsdSBku27kkPjFj3IfxmjrATbN4DsUDpNv0Cwrw_xfDFX3TS6HfhJlUw )

The famous "globus syndrome" that Céline has been talking about since at least 2007 - the sensation of having an obstacle in the throat, which makes swallowing difficult and sometimes affects articulation - this is often one of the early symptoms of SPS that develops.

What was the decisive factor? Between 2016 and 2019 there were even too many in her life... I sometimes think that her passion for ballet, stretching and gymnastics, so revived at the time of Courage, was already a reaction to a certain deterioration she was perhaps beginning to feel and was trying to combat in her own way.

But I agree with Davey84: the final touch was probably the forced and very abrupt stop due to the pandemic. As Bombardier wrote after accompanying her on the Taking Chances tour: "Céline Dion thrives on effort, and work seems to be the antidote to her anxieties. Inactivity hardly suits her. She makes no secret of the physical and psychological discomfort she has experienced at less hectic times in her life.” This should have been even truer with all the stress and grief she was running away from as usual, throwing herself into work... In 2020, suddenly, this was no longer possible and the unhappiness began.

She had put most of the weight on again by the time the tour started, but you can't ignore the shocking pictures from early 2019.

Weight and singing were improving early 2020. So sad covid appeared. Maybe vaccine accelerated symptoms

It’s pretty surreal… that Celine is facing this.

I know we all miss her.

I hope she is managing her symptoms and leading a quality day to day life. And I hope we hear an update from her sooner than later. Not that we’re entitled to it, we all just care about her.

The weight she (quickly) gained, she also quickly lost after only

a couple of months or so into the tour. She was looking thinner towards the end again to me, but nowhere near 2019 skinny.

No, it's not an absolute "must have" for me (especially as I'm not very good at hacking ; ) ). But just as some people collect recordings, rare photos, clothes and other elements of her legend, I try to keep up with what's being written about her in a serious way. It seems to me that we'll have to wait a little longer to receive the truly mature analyses she so richly deserves, but we'll get them eventually. In such cases, the passage of time is often initially a factor of forgetfulness, but it eventually does justice to truly exceptional personalities. I hope so for Céline.

Yeah… I tried that but didn’t get around the Figaro paywall…

Alguém poderia postar o assunto aqui no fórum.

Estou preocupado com todo esse silêncio.

I don’t know if this bad to say or not…but I can’t help but wonder what René would have done or would be doing as her manager during this moment regarding Celine’s diagnosis with SPS.

Thank you so much Davey!
