We’ve seen the way she often sounded in the late 2010s (foggy, overly nasal and dark-toned, weird pronunciation and lower pitched) is an active choice in a lot of cases… on most of Encore Un Soir, Courage (both live and in studio), The Prayer and Think Twice when sang live, she sings with a clearer, higher tone, isn’t as froggy and sings with way better pronunciation. Granted, most of La memoire d’Abraham is also sang in half voice or her head voice, which remain pretty unchanged. We’ll see. I’m very excited anyway; a favourite of mine that has remained criminally unsung and might now get a chance at being sung live!

It may be some vocal from a different 1995 take (like PQTME, J'attendais collector version) ... or the same vocal but with new arrangements (piano version for example ...).

When I saw the tracklist, I figured she was the one to (re) record that song! Made even more sense since it was the closing track.

 

It's a song with a lot of low notes, head voice flourishes, and the vocal range is mostly in the low - middle registers. That should make it easy for her if she's having trouble with her voice due to her illness.

 

I really like the song, it's the forgotten track from D'eux. It would have been fun to hear her take on a new song, but I'm excited.

It is pretty criminal that ANYTHING from "D'eux" has remained unsung live onstage. The damn album is her magnum opus, in my opinion. So, for there to be even one song from it to have not ever been performed live onstage is absolutely mindboggling. Do I think "...d'Abraham" would have worked as part of something like "A New Day...?" No, but Celine has done many intimate concerts since the release of "D'eux." It surely could have worked as part of a setlist for one of those types of shows. As you said, hopefully this project will help change that.

Were all the other songs originally sung by JJG or are there other songs in the track list that's he's written but were originally performed by other artists? (Like LMDA that was written by him but originally sung by Celine)

I always hoped to hear her sing memoire d’abraham and papillon sometime live - instead of those ‘fanfavorites’

There are also songs on the D’Elles album that deserve a live performance - not counting the lipped tv ones.

It's a song about Abraham, the prophet that freed the slaves in Egypt. It's one of those funeral songs Ala Vole/Fly here is what I saw online:There is a reference to Marek Halter's book, La Mémoire d'Abraham, talking about a Jewish family for 2000 years. It released in France in November 1983. This timeless song reminds the exiles' prayers, it addresses Abraham, the Hebrew patriarch who would be Israelites'ancestor ."I wrote it ten years earlier, Goldman said. I quickly realized that it wasn't for me, so then, I waited for the good interpreter."

In a way it will be weird hearing this song in her 2022 voice if she rerecords it. The original is pure vocal bliss for my ears. Her voice was outstanding on it.

I like the song and I'd be happy to hear a new vocal (although the original vocal doesn't need any improvement), but my fearless prediction is that she hasn't re-recorded it and it will simply be an updated production around the same vocal. But I hope to be surprised...

I love the song so I'm a little worried about this new version. It may end up being a nice surprise but a part of me is afraid that the magic would be ruined. However, if JJG is really involved in the project I believe he would make sure everything will be fine.

Didn't take the time to comment on here, but I'm taking it now and I have to say that I was hoping for something else about this tribute to JJ. He has so many beautiful songs that Celine could take to a new level. And yet we'll have to deal with a rerecording of a song that's already perfect in its original version, thus leaving room for potential disappointment.

No when it's on purpose, it's simply a different way of a singing technic as she was obviously trying out on LMBTL album, but you're right she sounds better and natural in her signature sound which we all know and love

It’s not just the bedroom voice that ruins everything but the way they crisp and drying her voice to oomph the bedroom voice style. If you want the old singing style of Céline, her sound engineer should go back to her classic style which is softening her voice and putting more reverbs again and voice being not louder than the instrumentals that leads to sound like being too forward.

 

Before, you can really hear the difference what the studio version sounds like to the live version. They now like making her studio vocals sounds like the same with the live version. Like voice being too forward and dry.
