You already know what Céline is like... Do you think she wasn't going to spoil us with an album of those characteristics? We know very well his kindness and his affection towards his fans... Maybe it's that the record company won't let him...

It’s not just the record label, IMO. Although I do agree those type of releases are not profitable anymore, several other artists from the same league as Celine, some even lower, are doing releases of live shows, besides e special editions. Some of them even from Sony or Sony branches, like Mariah and Britney.

It feels to me that is something the artist needs to require to be possible, or, sometimes, with successful fans campaign.

I do agree, though, Celine probably doesn’t even know we want this. She learned to rely too much on the executives to get that feedback. And, in their perspective, it’s pointless if it’s not profitable.

Yes, Celine really does have a contract with the record company, and she’s signed to produce X albums per year or over X years. She’s the one responsible for making them—along with her team—but she presents them to the record company, and the company decides whether to release them or not, depending on whether they like them. Anyway, I have a friend who’s a singer at Sony Music. I’ll see if I can write to her and ask...

I think you misunderstood me—it’s true that Celine and her team handle everything you mentioned, but their final work is presented to Sony, who decides whether to release it or not…

I’m studying Economics, and analyzing Celine's demand, I find it unlikely that unreleased old songs or demos will be published, at least in physical format. Crunching the numbers, it’s not very profitable...

If you look at All The Way, almost all the songs on that album are commercial and more well-known to the general public. I highly doubt that people who aren’t true fans of Celine would know songs like Valse adieu or Comme Un Coeur Froid.

Your theory about this would have to also go for Barbra Streisand as well. At this point there are less diehard fans than casual, and she is also signed to Columbia like Celine. Columbia released 2 rarities albums of hers in 2012 and 2021 respectively. They both peaked in the top 20. I don’t think a Celine rarities album would have an issue doing the same.

Sure, but it's not the same to talk about a concert than to release demos of, for example, "Soul" or "I love you" on a CD. How many people from the general audience of Céline do you think would be interested in a demo that's not even sung by her? Let's remember that the demo of Imperfections is sung by Lauv. We, as diehard Dion fans, of course, would be interested, but what about the general audience, which is the most profitable?

Without meaning to offend, the most profitable audience is the general public because we are a minority compared to them, unfortunately... A demo, I think, would only be of interest to people who are huge fans of her, and while we are many, compared to the general audience, we are small. That's why I wonder if a release like this is viable.

Anyway, even though in my opinion it's not feasible to have Céline's demos on a physical disc, why not digitally? A digital-only album for the fans?

Still, I think that due to the issue Céline had with her illness, maybe she hasn’t been listening to us much because she was sick, and perhaps she hasn’t even realized what we want...

We all know her kindness and her affection for the fans. She truly treats us like we are family. She has always shared absolutely everything with us. Do you think she wouldn’t indulge us with what we ask for, either in physical or digital format? We would all say yes with our eyes closed!

Then, of course, there's the release of concert DVDs, where she sang her usual songs... I see that as a better option, since people usually listen to the songs she sings in the concerts.

But what does it include? Demos of very famous songs by Barbara or songs that are perhaps less known to the general public.

It’s all unreleased material from sessions of many of her previous albums. It’s literally called “Release Me.” Has nothing to do with demos or famous songs.

I do agree. Plus there are albums she recorded many many songs. If I'm right She had over 50 songs for " Falling into You", she recorded 26 .... So if we take out the 16 songs from the album and the 4 Phil Spector ones, somehow 6 possible completed songs could be one day release.

No, I don't really think I'm looking for excuses. I'm currently studying Economics at the University of Extremadura, and although it may seem strange to you, although it may seem like it might be good to launch X thing, Economics, can say anything else. Actually, I think I'm the first one who would want this launch, but I'm trying to be realistic about the whole issue of the economic viability of the launch.

One must also take this into account. It might be because of that

I must acknowledge that it is true that some artists have released albums with discarded material, but perhaps Celine's team is more cautious about whether it will generate profit or not

For compilations like this to peak in the top 20, it’s worth it. Mariah’s peaked at 31 and it was a fantastic collection of songs. The fans will buy it, and that’s plenty.

Look at the album Love Again. 4 of those songs came from the Courage sessions.

One Heart is also a perfect example, all material from previous recordings.

And like Celine told us, she recorded so many songs for Courage that she could/wanted to release a 'back to back album' meanwhile she was looking at the team when she said it.

I think it's the team that says no to everything.

Look at Hymne a L'Amour, they didn't even took the effort to get everything right before the performance so that the song could drop right after on streaming services.

I'm sure all things aren't THAT easy with publishing rights, songwriter rights etc, BUT they are definitely lazy when it comes to Celine's music.

Good afternoon from Spain!! Sorry I didn't answer you. I've really had a lot of studying this week. It may be that the Celine team is more conservative in that sense of releasing unreleased material, or that they believe that it will dull Celine's career a bit. If you notice, Celine's career is very polished, there have never been any controversies with her, and her musical productions are perfect. Maybe they think that this unreleased material is of worse quality.

This does not mean that Celine's material is of poorer quality, but perhaps that is what the Celine team thinks.

I had the opportunity to listen to the musical demo of A new day has come that was given to René and Celine, and that is currently not on the internet, and was not really sung by her. She would make the final version, so I think that demos of songs would not include that album, but rather that they would release unreleased material that has been saved, and that was intended to be released... and when it has not been released, it is because they would think it was poor quality, that's maybe why the Celine team is more conservative...

But as a fan of Dion and all of us here, we want an album of unreleased material.

And in our opinion, none of our goddess quality material is of poor quality... I just imagine that might be your opinion. That's also another theory like the ones I mentioned above...

When people stopped talking about Dion's performance, the song was released, and just like that, they started talking again, making the period of talking about Celine's comeback longer. Don't you believe it? The same thing happens with a well-known soft drink brand... (I don't want to advertise), where they make reminder ads, not to sell something, but to remind people that the brand is there. I know this because I study Economics and that is one of the basic topics in the degree...

Why not a Rarities/Collector's Series Vol. II CD/DVD with the LIM concert as a bonus for the fans. BOOM! The fans would be happy and Sony would kill two birds with one stone.

Mariah did that with the Rarities CD+Tokyo concert 1996 DVD.

I can’t believe Céline and Mariah are in the same record company. Why in the world is Mariah getting to celebrate all her album anniversaries in such awesome ways and Céline does nothing??

Because Mariah cares about her music. She writes, composes, produces everything, she also understands that she is slowly going into the legacy kind of artists and instead of fighting it, she embraces it.

Celine is doing like Madonna, only caring about new music because her team probably deems her still too relevant to be doing anything like celebrating old albums. Madonna is finally realizing she needs to embrace her old music so she started working on that in the last2-3 years. God only knows when Celine's team will do the same for Celine. She has SO much material and they are giving us NOTHING lol tragic really.

This. Plus, let’s not forget the fact that Mariah owns all the rights to her music, which probably makes things so much easier for her when it comes to preparing these special anniversary releases.

All singers care about their songs. You know how Celine is. If she hasn't released anything, it's because she might not even realize what we want, or maybe she wants to release it later... That's another theory.

Posted

Celine has a tradition of releasing something new every year. This year, she released the remixes of I'm Alive. This 2025, she will release something. I don't know if it will be a remix or maybe a new album, as they are rumouring.

I highly doubt that we will be able to see discarded material for now, because Celine's return, I'm sure, will be with new and unreleased songs. I don't think they will start releasing old material.

That is true, Celine has said in NUMEROUS INTERVIEWS in the past, how much she cares about her music!! If she did not care about her music that she recorded, OBVIOUSLY SHE WOULD NOT RECORD MUSIC!!

I do think a lot of it has to do with SONY MUSIC not wanting to release songs, concerts, etc from the vault because they feel it might not make the executives enough $$, it is mostly about corporate greed!! & her Team are also too lazy to do anything about it!! Heck, look how long it took her team to realize that duhhhh, SOCIAL MEDIA DOES EXIST lol look haha!!

I think you are very right. Maybe Sony thinks that an album of rarities is not so profitable... Here, where I live, Extremadura, Spain, Mariah Carey is much better known than Céline for the subject of her song ''I all want for chrytsmats'', but Céline, people barely know how to enunciate a song.

They even call their song: ''My heart will go on'' the ''Titanic song''. Maybe Sony is informed about this and knows that it is not very profitable in some parts of Spain, and that if it is already difficult to make Celine known with a new album, imagine one exclusively for fans...

If you notice, Celine only sang once in Seville, and she came to present ''A new day has come'' in Madrid... Why hasn't she done it more? If it really generated income, he would come to Spain more often...

In Mérida, which is where I live, I know a lot of people, and there are only three Céline fans that I know... more, no... it's a small city, and almost all of us know each other, but there aren't many fans. ..

Something that makes me very sad, because reggae is more widespread here, and Céline, as good as she is at singing, doesn't...

It's also likely that Celine and her team haven't heard about what we're looking for, but I wouldn't be surprised to say that her team reads this forum. Although not all of us fans are here, there is a fairly important sample to guide Dion and his team about what we want.

I highly doubt that it is the Céline team, if not rather the record company's economists, who are the ones who decide whether a release is profitable or not. There, Celine's team does not intervene... I can almost confirm that, because as a person who studies Economics, he knows how the subject works.

I live in Spain, I'm 18 years old, I live in a city in Extremadura, and here many of my friends from when I went to high school didn't even know how to tell me Céline Dion songs. Here, Dion is very unfortunately, oddly enough, not popular. There are no record stores here either, I don't know if there still will be in the US, I imagine so. Here in Extremadura, the only one left is the Corthe Inglés, in Badajoz. I was looking to see if I saw any records of our queen, but there was only one on the entire shelves. And I was looking for a long time...

It's a shame that Celine is not well known here, at least in Extremadura. I think she and her team would have to focus a little more on the Spanish market... What's more, she has only come twice...

Celine also calls My Heart Will Go On as “Titanic song” since it’s much shorter. She always say it when doing rehearsals.

I didn’t know spanish people are into reggae genre and what do you mean by “ There are no record stores here either, I don't know if there still will be in the US”, I mean, it’s US, of course it will have records of Celine Dion.

I’m not sure about the records you’re looking at. Is it physical CD? Because even here in our country. It’s mostly streaming and the physical CD and DVDs mostly are hard to find now unlike before. It’s more on streaming and mostly you can buy physical CDs and DVDs on internet than physical stores.

Yes, it is true that Celine sometimes calls that song that, but in Spain, many people don't even know the lyrics of that song.

In Spain, there are still record stores. The English Corthe and FNAC.

At FNAC you can find the entire discography of many singers from around the world, including Celine... That's where you can find all their albums, even the rarest ones, but at El Corthe Inglés, there are also many albums... I was looking all the shelves and there was only 1... the compilation: ''My love''.

In Spain, practically no one, and I know many people, listens to Celine or other singers like her. They only listen to reggaeton, except in some cases, like me...

We do LOVE Céline but outside French speaking countries where she is an icon, a myth, she is in others contrôles a star like so many stars. Nothing less nothing more as Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Madonna, etc. I remember when i started to travel and settled down for a year in Germany in 1999. She was known for the Titanic film. Most of people i met did not Even known she wasn’t native english speaker, which sounded so weird to me !! And it’s true that in Spain, as long as Italy and other european countries, well, she is a singer, a normal singer among so many. Edited by emiliejolie
