"Play Me Like A Love Song" - Official Topic

IHYTILY is just a big mystery to me.... well produced but not the best of songs... Isn't Never Never Never basically the same song but much better? Tell Him is too much sugar for me. But I think both songs are fun from the aspect that she worked with two legends.

 

WITL is really good. Don't bash that...

 

WITL lyrics are just really contrived and try hard at a sort of Michael Jackson “Earth Song” / “We Are The World” world peace type vibe.

 

LTAL has always been a here and there for me, as with TC and LMBTL, the songs on all 3 of those albums (for me) are either great or bad with no in between. LTAL has amazing songs like The Reason and When I Need You, but it also has IHYTILY and WITL. LMBTL has Somebody Loves Somebody and Breakaway... but it also has Open Arms (not a bad song, just a bad version of it), Unfinished Songs and Lullaby. TC has Fade Away, Taking Chances and Eyes on Me... but it also has Shadow of Love which i quite frankly despise...

 

Its always interesting to observe other fans opinions and tastes in regards to Celines music

I've never seen WITL that way. Perhaps I haven't been critical enough.

 

But the description you had also fits LTAL, ISSW and Prayer... And I think WITL is way better than them (though LTAL and Prayer are very well produced). I'm having a hard time with these "love to the world" songs coz I think the lyrics are so general they loose their meaning, and becomes cliché. You can almost hear the writers thoughts "oh I am so deep right now" but it all just comes off as shallow.

 

Yes WITL could pass as that too, but somehow it doesn't for me. Think I have a soft spot for Corey Hart creations: I LOVE Miles To Go.

Don't forget Us on LTAL!

 

When you got 16 tracks on an album, it doesn't really matter if there are 2 or 3 skips songs. But when you only get 12 tracks and they have 2 or 3 skip songs, then it becomes a problem...

Her team does struggle to find the right and high quality English songs. And it's interesting that when they got a song like Always be your girl, mweh, the songwriters get so excited and they actually write a great song for her; Thankful!

I think WITL is my favorite song on LTAL. Same goes for SOL on TC, my most played song in her English discography. And I despise Breakaway... So in the end it all comes down to taste. One cannot argue taste.

and I came across a short clip of her in studio with Gatica where they listen to a recording of Un-Break My Heart as a duett. It COULD be Céline and Josh Groban (wasn't there a rumour about them in studio together?). But I am not convinced. It sounds like her on two words "un-break my heart, oooooh" but on the "take back the sad word goodbye" it doesn't sound like her at all. What do you guys think? I know I am grasping for straws here. Or am I not just used to hearing her sing like this?

Or she is like, what song is he talking about, meaning that PMLALS isn't the title of the song hence why she looks confused - ifsomeone came up to me and said ooh i love the song "fail me now", id be totally confused when in actuality they were talking about 'courage', (since fail me now and courage are said the exact same number of times in the chorus.....) Maybe that's why she looks confused, cause that is not the title of the song,

Finger crossed for it to be part of the album. I mean... This song sounds good as the Japanese bonus tracks we're used to have, but with 20 songs there's no space for one more track unless the other songs last 3 minutes, which would be a shame.
