New music that is already two years old before its release....yeah so much for modern. Lol. This is exactly why so many just want the ballads because they're timeless.

Well as far as we know recording did not start till.... 2017?

 

Cant see them starting in 2016 considering EUS had just been released.

I can't believe what I'm reading here. We hear a few seconds of a song and it's too old, not modern enough, don't like it.. .

yeah, I wasn’t quite sure either. First I thought it’s definitely Sia, but after I watched it a few times I thought that it might actually be Celine singing in Sia style. Maybe they used Sias demo on the show to „protect“ the original Celine recording before it’s officialy released

Well I was just responding to those who said those songs will sound old already. Personally I don't care if they were recorded 10 years ago! I just want them no matter what.

TPOL is timeless. The production on that track was made to stand the test of time. Incredible.

Agreed, there are two exceptions IMO. TPOL and BATB. Others from Unison, Self titled and The Colour Of My Love cannot say the same

I think it all depends on the live arrangements. Refuse to Dance, The Colour of My Love and Unison have sounded incredibly well in the last two tours.

Of course, but we’re discussing the album. Mariah and Celine have updated their arrangements but the studio obviously remains the same.

I have to admit that after the studio versions of Recovery and TSMGO I was a little worried about the production and arrangements of the new material, but this to me sounds top notch, absolutely love the snippet and can't wait to hear the whole thing.

Yea you're right about This Time. It has the same level of decisiveness and "angry singing" as This Time. However I think it sounds a bit like a Kara DioGuardi creation too. But not nearly as good as Surprise Surprise or Taking Chanses.

 

I am eager to hear more of this track. But I still don't have a good feeling about it being the first single of this much awaited album.

 

I found it sounded like 'This Time' which I like but not soo much to have a part 2.

And if this new song is Sia created… well it's faaar faaar away from Chandelier. Maybe Céline should Think Twice about recording a song just because it has Sia's name attached to it.

 

It's not just because it has Sia's name attached to it, but simply because Céline LOVES Sia's songs and writing. She told so during the LA showcase, and prior to that we've heard her singing Sia's songs several times: Chandelier, Cheap Thrills, Unstoppable... So if she likes it, it's all that matters.

 

As for the background vocals, it may be a mix of their two voices? 'Cause the penultimate "lying down", when the voice breaks, it sounds SOOOO like Céline signature vocals.

Even Céline herself hinted, on that very event I believe, that she wouldn't mind Sia giving her a song like Chandelier next time*.

 

Well we'll see if this song in full lives up to that. Fingers crossed.

 

 

* Which I interpreted as a little wink to that LMBTL was a Sia leftover. But that was MY interpretion, I'm not stating Céline meant it like that. And BTW I like LMBTL, but it's no Chandelier.

More of reason she needs to start writing her own music. Not saying she has to do it solo but she could co-write with people like Stephan Moccio, Linda Perry, David Foster, P!nk, Sia, Neyo, hell even Mariah... etc...

Unfortunately I hear sia's voice too. I say unfortunately cause this way it seems they're singing two different melodies at once.

 

On the other side it seems to me that the only Celine's voice I hear in the video is the live one, as if there was only music with backing vocals on the cd and Celine sings live with James (while the other songs were the album version and no instrumentals).

 

In any case I think this song could be a very good song, better than lmbtl and FOMO (this one... Scares me. But hopefully it's only a remix).

Personnaly, I do love this one. It's very often in my head, though we only have 30sec of it and James is singing over it.

FOMO was fun, but it didn't feel like Celine too me - yeah, I'm old school!

This ones feels right - probably because it matches MY Celine; the one I like.

 

"Poison" seems like a modern power ballad, it screams SIA and yet it fits Céline perfectly.

If FOMO is the summer single, and Poison/Baby/IDK the november one accompanying the album release, it would be a nice move.

Maybe that's the reason why no single is annonced yet: they teased both songs to see what the reception was, then they would choose?

Because of the emotion style, Linda is the best songwriter who had worked with Celine in her English career, she knows how to put a story in a song

Thats zero to go on and is an assumption... its kind of a thing that its a sia song as her voice is clearly present in the BGV and we know she has done 3 songs for the album.
