Céline RO Posted April 24, 2020 at 12:40 PM Posted April 24, 2020 at 12:40 PM really? I didn’t know about that.. is this the time where they got her a vocal coach? I think she got a vocal coach in the 80s but only started “treating her voice like an athlete treats their body” after the 1990 incident. 1 The best is yet to come...

PuraVida Posted April 24, 2020 at 04:09 PM Posted April 24, 2020 at 04:09 PM I just posted this in the YouTube thread a few hours ago, asking if anyone knew WHEN she lost her voice... but I guess the conversation is happening in this thread now! In this clip from 1990, it's evident that she's having vocal issues, which I've never actually seen in performances of this era. Certain notes/vocal techniques are noticeably strained. I'm no expert, so maybe someone else can elaborate. What impressed me is that, outwardly, she still has the same look of confidence as if she were slaying the song. That surprised me... I'm also shocked that they didn't just use playback!https://youtu.be/lNaLq7giNwU Hey Chantemoi. Wow--quite the coincidence that I asked the same question just a few posts up Celine RO replied saying that it was October 12 1990 that she had the incident with her voice, and from what I know the performance you posted was from April 1990...so a good six months prior. I'm not familiar with her performances in that interim period off the top of my head, but it would be interesting to compare. It almost seems like she is holding back in the song, but it's also a little hard to tell because she did sing with the same vocal choices in a few other performances in the Unison Era. 1

For me she sings very well. Maybe not perfect but that would be nitpicking.
TommKat22 Posted April 25, 2020 at 04:24 PM Posted April 25, 2020 at 04:24 PM HOWEVER... I dunno if it's international, but on the Dutch Spotify the cover they use is of The French Album, not D'Eux! It drives me freaking mad! (FIY It was released as D'eux here) FIY also has a very pale cover. UGH! And the cover of MHWGO is just a scan of a battered old single! WTF! I wish someone would actually care to upload perfect HD covers to Spotify Same in the US unfortunately. Also, Dion Chante Plamondon is now available to stream in the US on Apple Music! Should come to Spotify within the next day! 3 Tommy

And that all the songs are available because I think Tant de Temps is unavailable everywhere to stream. One of the duets from Sans Attendre anyway. Tommy

jpatdeleon09 Posted April 26, 2020 at 05:31 PM Posted April 26, 2020 at 05:31 PM (edited) LOL have you seen their channel? It’s a new account just to troll around. Taking Chances Posted April 27, 2020 at 10:50 PM Posted April 27, 2020 at 10:50 PM Is the Natural Woman performance from Divas 98 not on YouTube anymore? 1
PuraVida Posted April 28, 2020 at 06:43 AM Posted April 28, 2020 at 06:43 AM I thought her style was mostly really embarrassing. The most memorable exceptions were Divas Las Vegas and the Grammys... The music was overall more synthy and fun. I disagree that her voice sounded tired. To me, it sounded fresh and young. Way less contrived than LTAL, and her "experimental" sounds (Ten Days, Sorry for Love, Rain Tax, etc.) showed a playfulness missing from other records. Her appearances were funny, energetic, and full of future promise of the Vegas era. One Heart i just so pure, simple, upbeat, and easy to listen to. No heartbreak, no excessive drama (except JTE). 1F4T is probably my favourite album. « Tu nages » and ETJE still give me chills, and « Je lui dirai » is just delivered with such an unstoppable force. The album is short, sweet, perfect. First album I ever streamed online before its release. That's crazy to think about in this day and age!! I just discovered --today-- that "Tu Nages" was a cover...by Anggun no less! I have to say, I think I may prefer the original. Add another one to the list of covers Celine has done, lol. Also happy to say I discovered Anggun from a cover Veronique did while opening Celine's show in Jakarta in 2018! 1
PuraVida Posted April 28, 2020 at 06:53 AM Posted April 28, 2020 at 06:53 AM Is the Natural Woman performance from Divas 98 not on YouTube anymore? You're right, where did it go? The most recent link I found (through reaction videos) was removed due to a request by "Grammys"....The Grammys? I would've thought VH1, Viacom, or Carole King's label somehow since she wrote the song. Very strange. That song and that entire show have gone through a whole tornado on Youtube. I wish someone who throw up an official version. Aretha performed it in honor of Carole King 4 years back, and that version got 40 million plus views.
jpatdeleon09 Posted April 28, 2020 at 10:04 AM Posted April 28, 2020 at 10:04 AM (edited) Maybe the uploaders deleted it because Céline shines on that performance. Maybe they got jellyfish on that one especially the lambs lol WAHAHAHA! Edited April 28, 2020 at 10:04 AM by jpatdeleon09

(Grammys tribute). So, we need to edit the video. Putting some different clips and flipping some shots, etc. just to avoid copyright. I am now doing it but it will take a while...
