Great news for those in the US!

 

Du Soleil au cœur, Au Cœur du Stade, Incognito, D'eux, and S'il Suffisait D'aimer are all available to stream on Apple Music! They usually come there first and then to Spotify within the next few days!

 

 

And they're now on Spotify US! :clap:

Finally.

And D'Eux is finally called D'Eux, not some French Album nonsense.

I think it made sense at the time to release that album with that title—and even more sense in hindsight.

 

But it makes sense to make it D’eux on Spotify. At this point, everyone knows about her French career and that that is the landmark album.

That's part of what motivated the naming choice IMO. I believe her team knew at the time that they indeed had THE album of her Francophone career. It was clear by the sales, by the success of PQTME, and the quality of her voice. Nothing has matched it before or since in terms of success.

 

All these years later, that choice has stood the test of time. But yes, Spotify makes sense to change it now that she is the huge superstar she is.

HOWEVER... I dunno if it's international, but on the Dutch Spotify the cover they use is of The French Album, not D'Eux! It drives me freaking mad! :ranting: (FIY It was released as D'eux here)

 

FIY also has a very pale cover. UGH! And the cover of MHWGO is just a scan of a battered old single! WTF! I wish someone would actually care to upload perfect HD covers to Spotify :(

I dunno, SSDA is a pretty solid album, too! Not as successful, but personally I prefer it over D’eux. I am in total agreement about the title though. Even at the age of 14 year when I bought it, I thought it was pretty demeaning, because I knew —even then, as a new fan— that she’d had a slew of French albums before that. Plus, anyone purchasing an entire album in French can pronounce « d’eux ». :lmao:

The Beatles' White Album is actually called "The Beatles". But some of the US Beatles' albums were renamed in the 21th century to be given the original British name. "Meet the Beatles" was renamed "With the Beatles" for example.They also released replicas of original Capitol US releases for nostalgic or collector people. I think it is a very good idea to standardize the albums. Even for Céline. I agree with you on the title being stupid. I thought it was only a sticker on the CD but no. I'm glad they changed it back to the original.

Can someone remind me when in the 90s Celine had her vocal injury and had to stop speaking? And for how long?

It was on 12 October 1990 at a concert in Sherbrooke, QC. It was part of the Unison Tour. She had to not talk for three weeks. After that, she was still not well and postponed even more shows (a few months).

I just posted this in the YouTube thread a few hours ago, asking if anyone knew WHEN she lost her voice... but I guess the conversation is happening in this thread now!

 

In this clip from 1990, it’s evident that she’s having vocal issues, which I’ve never actually seen in performances of this era. Certain notes/vocal techniques are noticeably strained. I’m no expert, so maybe someone else can elaborate. What impressed me is that, outwardly, she still has the same look of confidence as if she were slaying the song. That surprised me... I’m also shocked that they didn’t just use playback!
