I'm a little surprised she didn't show up to present at any of them - she had the time off for pretty much the entire awards season, and it would be good promo for upcoming album and/or tour to be present at these things - maybe that's where the spat with ICM is hurting her.

I thought artists needed to be invited to these shows?

 

There are many comments on twitter wishing for Celine to have been there to perform Ashes.

Yes, of course.

But an agent is there to get you invited. :-D

I didn't know that.

But I thought ICM was only in charge of booking touring venues not special appearances at events.

Regardless she got the Grammy's Aretha special, the Hydes Park festival, and a World Tour is supposedly in the works so I don't think parting with ICM is the cause of her not being at the Oscars.

 

She should have gone though. Hopefully next year she'll go to the Grammy's and Oscar's, as well as other music award shows. And fingers crossed for it to be because she's nominated for some awards.

They're a talent agency, and this is the sort of thing talent agencies do. (There's a reason all these winners go up there and thank their agents!)

The scope of their particular responsibilities with respect to Celine depends on the terms of the agreement she had with them.

 

(Note, however, that Rob Prinz was there with her last time she presented at a major award show.)

That's why i want to see her in every award shows. Not just to perform but because of this. And the outfits she'll wear.

I would love for celine to try a concept one of my favorite bands has.

 

Be her own opening act. Make it fun. Go by a different name. Don't talk much, disguise yourself slightly and sing about 7 songs from her back catalogue that are obscure that as an "unknown opener" work...in all honesty she has already recently had some songs that could qualify in here.

 

Def leppard did this in 2013 for there vegas show. Performing songs they never had before or hadn't in ages. It was a rotating set different each night. Then they rolled into their best known album playing it start to finish...and then wrapped up with 2 more encores. The entire concept was neat. I think celine has the goofiness to wanna pull it off lol.

I think i read somewhere that Céline doesn't like award shows and red carpets? That's why she doesn't sit in the audience anymore if she can get away with it when she attends these award shows

No but I think at least during the red carpet, in My Story My dream she talked about all the people being fake during the red carpet if I remember correctly. I need to read the book again.

He can sure hit those high notes. Really like the part at 1:30, love the incorporation of his culture into the song.

And he gives the song the dramatic performance no one else covering it has ever given it. Maybe overdoes it a little (for my taste) but impressive.

I don’t know. I don’t like it. Maybe the tone. It’s like a duck that is hurt. If high notes for a male i would say Adam Lambert since his high notes are more thicker and stronger.

And she doesn't need to understand all the lyrics to appreciate her daughter's voice and music. I'm sure many of Celine's international fans don't understand everything either. ;)

Does anybody know where I can watch Celine’s 2016 interview on Ellen? I can find a 3 min clip of them talking, the singing game they played and her performance of ‘Recovering’....but I wanna see the whole interview again.

what drives me really crazy right now is the fact that we have no information at all about the new album, and it's been this way for a couple of years now. Come on... I'm really getting sick and tired of waiting for her new album. What a terrible way to treat the fans. They could at least release some of the live tours on bluray and cd which were filmed

 

Except... we do have info now. We know we will have new songs in July, with an album most likely to come in the months to follow. And really? A terrible way to treat fans? Her husband died and she went back to performing the next month, went on tour the same year, AND released an album the same year. Just think for a moment and you'll be able to understand why she's taking long to release the album. Before rene passed, she wasn't in charge of all the decisions. Now? She is. She doesn't want to disappoint fans so she's taking her time finding her sound
