Random news, thoughts and common questions about Celine (closed)

I read something a few days ago about MC playing herself in a film but was edited out cos she was too diva ish. Anyone else hear about it? Can't remember the film, but she was hired to sing a certain song, turned up several hours late, then said she didn't want to do that particular song! Lol

But definitely agree with you all - they're only jealous of the facts that Celine has maintained her voice really well and is also a really lovely down to earth person despite her success! Joe McElderry after the Leeds show tweeted about how humbled she was with the audience reaction to her etc

Yes, I heard about the movie thing. Sometimes I watch Wendy on YouTube and she talked about that today. Every time I hear about Mariah, its either she's been a diva, or some failed performance.

It's strange to me that Mariah gets hired for anything when she behaves like a diva.

Did she? What did Wendy say? She loves Mariah

She first talked about the movie thing maybe last week, and then today again when she reported that Mariah's scene had been cut, just like Wendy predicted. Wendy didn't defend her at all. I'll find the video.

Holy s***!!! How cool is this?!

So next Saturday is Canada Day, and given that it's the big 150, there's been all sorts of press about the history of Confederation, including this article in Maclean's called Great-great-great-great gaughters of the Confederation.

And guess what, one of those profiled is Scott Price's daughter! Which means, either he (or her mom) are direct descendants of one of Canada's founding fathers.

It's must be Scott considering the fact that he had his daughters with singer Martine Chevrier (a Celine wannabe if you ask me) and the family name "Tupper" doesn't sound so french haha but it's not such a big deal here in Quebec since most french canadians are descendants from settlers who arrived in New France 400 years ago, including Celine. It's more of an english thing...

Except of course for "Glitter" and "Charmbracelet." And then "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" had some redeeming and mature qualities. The latter is the direction she should have continued with.

I liked the Glitter movie and I liked the Charmbracelet album. Sooooooooo

Well, my sister was a big Mariah fan. She didn't go to her latest concert because the time before it was very bad. She went to Celine with me two times and was very very impressed with Celine as a vocalist and as a person. We were at Celines concert last friday and my sister wondered why Mariah didn't take care like Celine does.

There was a time when Mariah was also very good. In Europe Mariah is not populair at all.

Enjoy! You'll love it, it's one of my absolute favourites. I'll be interested in hearing how it compares to watching it via YouTube,as we've all been discussing the viability of releasing such things now or not!

Also on a side note, if they're not interested in releasing dvds now, sadly it'll probably mean we'll never get Memphis, Millennium etc either 😢

Unfortunately the video quality of the LAP DVD is far from impressive. It looks like they just transfered the VHS and copied what they had into a DVD, because the quality is the same as watching the VHS  But yes, at least we could get rid of the VHS tape.

Wendy Williams is just gossiping. Making herself money by putting down other people. It makes me think of what Celine said about Rene -- that he never said anything bad about others. I don't think Celine would like this.

And I don't think anything that Wendy says that Mariah did is so bad . . . the 4 hours late thing? Celine has been late a TON of times for recording sessions, etc. I don't think that's uncommon for big stars with very busy schedules. That she wanted white roses and stuffed animals . . . who cares? It doesn't hurt anyone, and, again, it's super-common for big stars (even small-time stars) to have riders when they have an appearance requiring all sorts of crazy foods and comforts and whatever. It goes with the territory. (Usually, the riders are super-confidential, so the info doesn't get public too often). And, I don't think there's anything wrong with her not wanting to be shot -- she didn't want to play the victim. She wanted to be a strong woman . . . honestly, I don't see anything so terrible in anything she said about Mariah.

My dad is in a band that isn't much of a big deal and even they have riders.

The difference is that Mariah is not only demanding, she's also a bítch. She also constantly acts like a petulant child. Mariah is notoriously late to rehearsals, performances, interviews, etc. and then blames everyone around her for her mishaps. Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting. Did you see that atrocity in 2014? That was because she didn't show up to rehearsal. Which was her own fault. New Year's Eve? She admitted to no sound check, but blamed ABC. Then it came out that she showed up too late to do a sound check.

There's a stark difference between when Mariah is late, and when Celine is late. When Celine is late, she's profusely apologetic. Even when it's for her show. Now, we know Celine is most likely late due to meet and greets before the show. I'm sure that puts her behind. But she wants every person to have their best 45 seconds of their life with her. Mariah shows up late, and it's always someone else's fault.

About the role and being shot. Helloooooo?! Did you read the script? Why did you accept the role if you didn't like the outcome for the character? Just more diva behavior. I agree with you about Wendy gossiping and putting other people down to make money. I'm not a big fan. However, Mariah...she's the only one to blame for herself being spoken about in such negative light.

I started this topic because I, along with some other members on this forum strongly wish for another concert DVD release. I am curious to know how high in demand this subject actually is. Do the majority of Celine's fans want another DVD? If so, we need to let Celine or her team know this in some way.

I encourage fans to write into Feeling Productions, facebook, twitter or whatever other platform and get this information out there. I also would be very thankful for any future meet and greet goers to let Celine know about our want for another DVD release. I would really appreciate it and I know a lot of other members on this forum would as well. :)

I would really like to put this to a vote though, so if anyone wants Celine's team to release another DVD, please voice your thoughts in this topic.

Canada 150: Celine Dion & Shania Twain Lead Nielsen Music Canada's Top Canadian Artists Chart

In celebration of Canada's 150th birthday — Billboard's top Canadian artists, albums and songs in the Nielsen Music Canada era

The official 150th birthday of Canada — commemorating confederation — is this Saturday, July 1, known as Canada Day, but it’s been a year-long celebration with the government putting in a half-billion dollars towards the branded ”Canada 150” festivities and businesses commemorating the sesquicentennial their own way. Nielsen Music Canada, in collaboration with Billboard, has compiled its own celebratory lists of the biggest artists, albums and songs since the data-tracking system came into Canada in 1996 (and cut off Dec. 31, 2016).

“We’re excited to celebrate the success of Canadian artists at home, in partnership with Billboard, as we honour [sic] Canada’s 150th anniversary,” said Paul Shaver, Head of Nielsen Music Canada.

Nielsen Music Canada’s recap charts include all-format and radio charts (started April 1995), album sales (1996 -) and digital song sales (2005 - ). The most recent chart for streaming (July 2014 -) extends to March 2017.

The top-selling Canadian artist (by album sales in Canada) during the 20-year “Nielsen Music Canada era,” is, not surprisingly, Celine Dion when tallying up all her physical and digital sales for the Top Overall Artist chart. She’s followed by Shania Twain and Michael Bublé at Nos. 2 and 3, both of whom are massive outside Canada. Next, however, is The Tragically Hip (No. 4), the rock band that does not have the same profile in the rest of the world as it does at home but has been one of the country’s biggest acts for decades and played its final tour in 2016 following singer Gord Downie’s announcement he has brain cancer. Also among the top 25 artists: Sarah McLachlan (No. 5), Nickelback (No. 6), Diana Krall (No. 7) and Avril Lavigne (No. 8), but the appearance of DIY artists Johnny Reid (No. 17) and Loreena McKennitt (No. 20) is impressive and francophone acts Francois Perusse (No. 19) and Isabelle Boulay (No. 24) show the power of the Quebec market.

The Top Overall Albums chart — combining physical and digital album sales — finds Twain holding two positions in the top 10, Nos. 1 and 3 for Come On Over and Up!, respectively. Dion’s Let’s Talk About Love is sandwiched between at No. 2, while the diva also holds down Nos. 9 and 10 with Falling Into You and These Are Special Times, respectively. The top 10 also includes McLachlan’s Surfacing at No. 4, Lavigne’s Let Go at No. 5 and Our Lady Peace’s Clumsy at No. 8.

When we get into the digital era, the dominating names are quite different, pointing to the buying habits of a younger generation. Sitting at No. 1 on the Top Digital Songs chart (ranking the best-selling digital song downloads) is Canadian passport-carrying Robin Thicke with “Blurred Lines,” featuring T.I. and Pharrell, followed by Carly Rae Jepsen’s breakthrough hit, “Call Me Maybe” (No. 2), and East Coast rapper Classified with “Inner Ninja” (No. 3), that comes in before hits by international smashes by Bieber, The Weeknd and Magic! Bieber takes three positions in the top 10 with “Love Yourself” (No. 4), “Sorry” (No. 5) and “Beauty and a Beat,” featuring Nicki Minaj (No. 9), while pop band Hedley, which hasn’t broken the U.S. but headlines arenas at home, is at No. 6 with “Kiss You Inside Out.” The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face” is No. 7 while Magic!’s “Rude” takes No. 8 and Drake’s “One Dance,” featuring WizKid and Kyla, rounds out the top 10 at No. 10.

The same familiar Canadians that have been dominating the U.S. charts lately also pepper the top 10 of the Top Streamed Songs chart: Bieber, The Weeknd, Drake and Shawn Mendes. Bieber’s “Sorry” is No. 1 and “What Do You Mean?” No. 2, but he also takes No. 5 with “Love Yourself.” Drake takes a pair of spots in the top 10 with “One Dance” and “Hotline Bling” at Nos. 4 and 7. The Weeknd claims a trio of tracks in the top 10 (“Starboy” at No. 3, “The Hills” at No. 6 and “Can’t Feel My Face” at No. 8) while Mendes is at Nos. 9 and 10 with “Stitches” and “Treat You Better.”

When it comes to airplay, taking into account all format spins, the No. 1 on Top All Formats Songs belongs to Armin Van Burren’s “This Is What It Feels Like,” featuring Canadian Trevor Guthrie on vocals. The ubiquitous “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen comes in at No. 2, and Martin Solveigand Canadian band Dragonette with “Hello” at No. 3. A pair of songs by rock band Finger Eleven are next at Nos. 4 and 5, “One Thing” and “Paralyzer.”

I listened for the first time to the entire Unison album. I wouldn't call it my favourite album but I kinda liked the easygoing sound of it. I especially liked Have A Heart, Loving Every Moment With You and If We Could Start Over Again

The only English album to discover for me is the 1992 album.

So far I only know the biggest French hits, I have the Une Seule Fois / Live 2013 CD/DVD but I might buy the soon to be released French vinyl records
