LAST HOUR: René is recovering from a major operation on his throat René Angélil recovering from a cancerous tumor René Angélil is recovering at his home in Las Vegas, after removal of a cancerous tumor in his throat.

 

The husband and Manager of Celine Dion underwent surgery on December 23. The operation went well and within a few days received discharge.

 

René is regaining strength and about to resume normal working hours in order to get back as soon as possible to normal life.

 

"I don't want to live René daily stress of work related issues. Want to recover your health 100%. " Céline said in a press release issued this afternoon.

 

"I still have my shows in Las Vegas, which allows us to spend more time together and maximize the company of our children". Are you aware of how lucky we are to the life that we live and we thank God every day, "added Céline

That's what I was saying too, about not knowing what is going on in someone's life.

 

God bless them all. I can't believe she is even continuing with the LV shows right now. At least her break is coming soon. I am glad the surgery went well, and he is recovering now.

It's sad to here that Rene had to go through that cancer operation again. And here we are talking about their marriage maybe being in trouble, and like you say in your quote QueenCeline87, lets forget about all that stuff, shame who would have thought they were going through such a terrible time, and Celine never said a word about it. I hope he gets well soon, and my prayers go out to Rene, Celine and the children. May God bless them all.

I guess they prefer to tell the truth than having false info circulating... Hope he's doing better. Now we know why The Tonight Show was cancelled and she only shot the video to go right back home!!

I know you are referring to the Tonight Show interview scheduled prior, and not anything coming up.

But, I do agree with you---it explains the cancellation back then; it explains a lot. The fact they could go through this, and still do the promotion that they did, and I would imagine he was not feeling well in Paris for the mini-tour, and she was still a complete professional. It's amazing. I am sorry they had to go through this, but I am glad he is recovering, and that they can be together with their kids.

 

Just to fourth at this point everyone, I am sure all of our prayers are with them at this time.

Literally cried when I heard this earlier. Not just because of what happened, but because of how strong Céline is. They've been through this before and to go through it again must have be terrifying. But Céline didn't say a word. René is strong also of course. We have no idea what their family went through in December, we just see what they want us to see. To me, this is why Céline is the best. How many other singers are this professional when they are going through a private hell basically? It just goes to show you never really know what someone is going through. The Dion/Angélil's are a close family. They have a lot of love and support around them. But right now, we are all a family and we must come together and support René, Céline and their entire family. Glad to hear everything went well and I'm sure we all feel the same as we send love, thoughts and prayers their way ♥

this would explain all the trips to LA. I knew something had to be up as they never make that many trips there. I just didn't think it was something like this. It's unfortunate that it's happened but good that he is recovering well. It's things like this that make me think it's time that he steps aside for someone to take care of the career. That way he won't have the stress and he can spent more time with the family.

She is just so strong!!! She amazes me more & more!!

I'm very impressed that they have been able to keep things going the way they have since December! Vegas is clearly a major advantage here, as Celine is only away from home for a couple of hours at a time for the show, it probably makes her feel much more relaxed knowing he's only a short drive away, which explains why she didn't cancel any shows. If this had happened during a tour, then I'm sure things would have turned out much differently, and we would have found out about their situation a lot sooner.

I think they've gotten more private as the years go on, but I actually think this is very similar to how they handled it in '99. They didn't tell anyone at all, and Celine kept doing shows for about a week at Rene's insistence, and no one knew -- they had to make an announcement when she then cancelled all her tour dates, interviews etc for April and May. But beyond a prepared statement, I don't think she gave any interviews or anything until she was in Europe in June, when the bulk of his treatment was over and he was recovering.

 

I don't blame her at all - I can only imagine the sorts of questions she might be asked in an interview, and who wants to go through that when you're struggling with your loved one's illness?

 

I just hope he recovers quickly and completely; they shouldn't have to worry about anything else now.

The rumours were probably more in the music industry... Maybe that's why some Sony people will be having (or did have) "dinner" with René and Céline and we were asked what questions we would like them to bring up... Maybe that was just a coincidence???

Don't forget Celine was in the middle of a world tour and had to pospone/cancel some dates. Therefore they had to issue a statement etc. With LV Celine isn't far from home when she has shows. The first fight Celine said made her strong and have more control. So i bet this time she said "i'll do this, this and this, and we'll cancel this, this and this, and we'll pospone this, this and this. Rene, don't you worry about anything." Can hear her now!!
