Here in South Africa, we call the crock pot a slow cooker. It is a lovely thing to have. You're just about guaranteed that you won't burn your food, which suites me down to the ground. :giggle:

Man are we bored or what talking about chips and crockpots! I love it though. Perhaps we should start a thread in off topic and share crockpot recipes, I have a few but need more.

Yes, I'm pretty sure Crock-Pot is a brand of slow cooker, but it become synonymous with the slow cooker itself (at least in the US), like Band-Aid for that type of bandages.

"which suites me down to the ground" I have'nt heard that one before. Love it! A friend from Virginia said "he wasn't taller than a damn minute" one of my faves. He also turned me on to chili slaw dogs, since we are discussing food. Edited by brujocrow

The difference between a slow cooker and a crock pot is that the crockpot is electric. You plug it in rather than putting a slow cooker on the stove.

one bag is black while the other is orange. Several years ago they changed the flavour of the BBQ chips and then a few years later brought back the original flavour so they now have 2 kinds. At least they have 2 kinds over here.

I mainly only buy the black bag and sometimes I buy Golden Flake's Sweet Heat chips lol. But yea, the black bag is what I've seen her with.

 

it feels so weird havin a conversation about chip bags :laugh:

I again haven't heard of your friends saying, that's now new for me. The chilli slaw dogs you're talking about, is that like a salad, made from thinly sliced cold cabbage, carrots and mayonnaise all mixed together? But you would then add chilli? Then you put that on top of the hot dog? We call what I explained to you, coleslaw. We can like order that if we buy KFC, or other fast food outlets.

You've got it right Sharon. It's a hot dog topped with coleslaw and chili. I enjoy colloquialisms. They are the "eyebrows" of any language. The nuance or local flavor added to the spoken word. It's my hope to travel and visit local cafes just to hear peoples stories and views on life in general. The fact that I can communicate with virtually anybody now still "blows my mind". Imagine trying to do this a few decades ago. Randomly dialing phone numbers and introducing yourself.

Rather than quoting everyone and their mother...... :giggle: I absolutely love my crock pot!! I love coming home to an awesome meal that's already done. I think we should start a topic for recipes (or maybe a sub-topic?). And chili slaw dogs are amazing, too!! :wub:

Ok, so we're talking about the same thing. I know, it is absolutely amazing what we can do, the technology is fantastic, within a couple of seconds, we are in touch with people from all over the world. Nice to be able to talk like this in general, about all kinds of things. It's really cool!! Hope your dreams come true to visit all the places you wish to go to.
