Was just thinking about how cool it would be to have some reeeeally early bootlegs from the FIY tour. With all the bootlegs we had from TCWT, we really saw some songs go through big changes - It's A Man's World (high notes and ending), Alone (high note), Taking Chances (a few lines throughout the song phrased differently), Fade Away (more power like the studio version early in tour), and others...

 

Anyway, we all know how in the various performances of The Power Of The Dream (Memphis, a couple bootlegs, some TV show broadcasted from a tour date, Brunei, etc) she changed the final long note quite a bit in comparison to the studio version. My guess is that the syllable "e" is the hardest to belt out in full chest voice. But it would be interesting to see footage of the first live performance of the song to see if she attempted it the album way before eventually changing it to her own way (as she did with Alone for example on TCWT with the F#5 after the second verse).

 

And don't forget - the footages we have of Australia from this tour (which I think was either the first stop, or one of the first of the tour) do show some differences - for instance, this is the only true full performance of All By Myself with the full 5 minute arrangement (even Memphis was shortened a little bit). Despite this being in the full arrangement she didn't do any of the ad libs from the album that she doesn't normally do (if I recall correctly)...so it was probably shortened since it was a little meh. And also, it's the only full performance of To Love You More as well....remember the ending of the song with all those long notes? Shortened greatly for Vegas/TCWT, but even Memphis was shortened as well. The Austraila performance has the full one minute of those long notes... so there is a chance we could have seen some differences early on in the tour.

Well, at least we have some footage of several concerts from that tour (Jones Beach, Berlin, Zurich, Australia, Montreal, Brunei, Memphis, LDSLP from Rotterdam and few songs from a radio special). What (I think) all of us REALLY desperately need is footage from pre-FIY tour shows! Really need audio/video from performances from the Celine Dion, The Colour Of My Love and D'eux tours. It really is a shame for me to be missing footage from TCOML tour because it's one of my very favorite eras, and it would be pretty interesting to hear a LIVE performance of the opening song, Everybody's Talkin' My Baby Down. Do you guys think nobody recorded anything during these 3 tours???

just wanted to know how you all feel at the moment when it comes to Celine Hope all you guys are all ok because ive been feeling sad when thinking of celine the past few weeks, i think it started when the Jamaica concert was not streamed live! Since its been bad news after bad news

I really want to thank Kev for being so honest about our feelings right now. I also think this WILL be a big year for her. Don't forget, everyone, this year has not even seen two full months yet. Close, but not there yet. SO come on, I know it can be so hard, but let us try to keep faith. There will be dark times, "it's inevitable." But as she hrself says, the best IS yet to come. I accknowledge that fight now it Is dark, all this s*** seems to keep piling up on someone who is so totally not deserbing of any of this. But you know they say it's darkest before the dawn.

I hope there is no anger at/toward her. Like someone said, it's not her fault. I bet she's as upset about all of this as we are, more so perhaps. She loves to sing to us she hates canceling. In addition to her carrying all our love, she has that humongous weight of our expectations, faith, hope and excitement on her shoulders. let's talk together about it as we began to do, instead of piling it on her even more so.

Maybe I'm just one of these forever optomists, but I don't see a point in time where I ever give up. I have had dark moments and temporarily lost faith, but, guys, that's the time we most need to come together. You know, since Whitney died, I've seen waaaaaaaay less complaining, criticising and picking Celine apart here. I've seen the sunlight of gratitude that thank you God she is still here. THAT is where we must focus now. Things don't look good right now, I know, but we have to focus on the posibilities of what CAN be for her. She is so far from being done.

The issue with her vocal cords...now that concerns me. So without being all religious here gys, let's do something about this. There is power in numbers and love in intensified focussed group energy. Light a candle, say a prayer. I'm scared to tell you all what I'm doing because some here would call me a freaky scary obsessed fan. But love can move mountains right? And I have witnessed some incredible love for her here. Now is when she needs it, so let's start delivering.

Love holds true when it's tough, and no s***, it's tough now. So let's ban together and pull her through this. How many times has she done this for us?

I'm sorry if I went on too long or was way too intense and obsessed for some of you, but, you asked what my feelings are and this is it. I will close this by saying simply, on t'aime, notre belle grande Celine!

Oh I haven't given up on Celine. I have been a fan forever and you never give up on your Idol. I was just looking forward to this big year with Celine and her shows and new releases. I like the idea of Celine being on top of the music world once again and it doesn't look very promising right now, but I haven't given up!

I agree with you 100% i wasnt moaning or saying im not going to be a fan of hers lol that would be impossible, i was just saying that as fans we are going to be feeling upset about this, im sure most of us fans see celine projects, performances as presents, i sure do lol i love celine and i will till the end, again i hope celine is ok and will feel better soon! xxxxxxxx

The Power of The Dream may not have been performed right at the start of the FIY tour. Remember that the tour started in March 1997, and the Olympics performance wasn't until July 19. The song may not have even been recorded until after the tour started!

 

The last FIY performance before the Olympics was June 23, the Olympics were July 19, and the tour resumed 4 days later, on July 23. It's quite likely that TPOTD was added into show after this month-long break.
