Have no idea actually, but I think many of them WANT her to be the best-selling female artist of all time (and some of them maybe think she is too ) Btw, who says that? On the mc topic on CDF or what? And come on, 300 millions albums sold? Yeah, right.....Celine has sold over 200 millions, no way mc has sold more!

No, I think it is true. Apparantly Celine and he made a deal. If I remember correctly, one of the games that he is not allowed to play is Roulette. Anyway, is that article actually new? Yeah it was in an article. It was when Céline was feeling really bad in Las Vegas because René was always gambling. She never saw him.

Robin came to her and told her to talk with René and they agreed that he would stop playing some games (Roulette) and for only certain amount of money to give René some limit of gambling

So I was looking at some youtube videos of celine during this time, and you know i've always found it a bit weird. from the early years till about this period, she always seemed to be in strong voice. But right around mid to late 1993 to the end of 1994, she just seemed to always have some vocal problems. For instance the power of love, which she sung a crazy amount of times, always seemed to give her problems and she could never hold the note ok, with the exception of the sonia benezra rendition, without changing it or improvising. With the exception of the Olympia concert in Paris, she always seemed tired and quite nasal, while if she had done it in 1992, it seems it would have been a piece of cake. Honestly look at the youtube videos from 90, 91, 92 which oh my gosh she was in magnificent form, and then for some reason during 93, and 94, it just seems like she was having alot of issues during some live performances. Can anyone shed any light on this?

if im correct and i may not be but 93/94 she had just started to do her vocal exercises and treatments etc so her voice was going through changes cause if you look at videos after this period 96 etc her voice is far more powerful then ever.

also celine wasnt singing correctly leading up to 93 which is why on a show she lost her voice and forced her to her throat doctor....so thats why there could be a difference

i think her voice was most crystal clear during 93 - 95... and between 96 - 2000 it was the strongest

 

 

I think Céline was verrrrrrrrrrrry busy at that time, so that could be a reason why her voice wasn't 100% every time, she's only human

In the early 90s aka [90/91/92], she wasn't THAT popular. However, from Beauty and the Beast and on, Celine Dion was on the charts and was requested all over the world. I remember reading somewhere that Celine and Rene's honeymoon in 1994 was shortened because her TCOML was on top of the charts in Australia and she was requested by many there to go sing live for them; her schedule became more intensive and vocal problems arise when she used her voice so oftenly.

 

Now, if you see Vegas, it's the NUMBER one cause of her voice to become less gentle and thicker. She used it for 5yrs 5days a week and I think it was the biggest mistake she ever made in her career. She could have raised her son wherever she wanted without the need to make a 5days a week show for 5 yrs straight. I mean she didn't need the money that she got from her Vegas show; the big question remains that WHY in hell did she sign this contract?

In Vegas, she wasn't coached vocally and she was living in a desert = she RUINED her voice pretty much TOTALLY. She could have chosen another city where she could have made her show not in a SIN-CITY-DESERT.

 

In the 90s, however, she used her voice many times but she was coached vocally and her voice was just fine; It had the gentleness that was specific to it.

It's weird...maybe he went there for a tournament or business or something and decided to play while he was there? I dunno but it sounds like a new article, and he probably shouldn't be playing that game then. Hope he didn't go over his limits....hope everything is ok!!

The honeymoon was actually shortened because of Think Twice being popular in the UK. She performed (live) on TOTP during the honeymoon.

 

Anyway, I agree with what the OP has said for the most part. I've kinda noticed the same thing. ABM, which is a tone higher, is nearly always similiar or close when life, but TPOL, which is a tone lower then ABM, can be radically different each time. I won't however say that Sonia Benezra was the only good ending note. It was the best, but was also great on Arsenio Hall, Top Of The Pops, the first appearance on the Tonight Show, Jackson Family Honors, and maybe even the Juno Awards.

 

The whole era of 1992-1994 has very few performances. No concert releases except a DVD with....three live songs. The tours going on have absolutely no footage on the web.

 

None of the songs in this time period were really promoted that much. Got a performance of Misled. Two of Only One Road (which are amazing), about 16 for TPOL, one of Everybody's Talkin' My Baby Down (also great), and a few of TCOML.

 

In its highs, this era was one of the greatest, but it was definitely the most inconsistent.

Legally I think it would be Celine Angelil with her middle names included but her stage name is still Celine Dion unless she didn't change her name when she married Rene. It makes sense that she would still go by Dion as that's what everyone knows her as instead of Celine Angelil.

I don't think she took Rene's last name. Most Celebrities don't really do that for the reason, like you said, that the name is what they're known for.

Really? I don't see why she would. She's known as Celine Dion across the world. Also, as others have pointed out, hardly any celebrities take their husband's name. I think she realizes how unique and beautiful her name is (I think it's a gorgeous name), and she wouldn't change it, legally. Also, it's been 15 years since her marriage, and I've yet to see any official form with her name as Celine Angélil.

Well i see what you guys are saying. I just feel that its so weird that all of the sudden once she hit 93 to 94 specifically, i just noticed some issues. But maybe it was due to overwork. i mean i must say 90 to 92 was phenomenal in terms of poer as well as 96 to 2000. but for some reason 93 - 94 is just well i don't know.
