I'm pretty sure it was all innocent fun... Nothing wrong with that.

By the way, do you also think that the only thing that is close to the truth in that movie about Celine's live is the look of that little girl that play Celine when she got hit by the car and fractured her skull (or whatever). She looks a lot like Celine did when she was that age... or is it just me?

Yes innocent naughty stuff like we all did when we were young ;)

I can't stand that movie. I watched a part of and didn't like it. Specially since it wasn't approved

I know, that movie is the biggest load of bollocks! But I did think that the little girl looks a lot like Celine when she was that age.

:lol2: I'm flipping through the tv guide listings on my cable just now and a program called "I'm Alive" is on and of course I get that immediate perk of interest....and the episode title was "A New Day" hahahahahahaha

Too bad it was only an episode about a guy surviving a crocodile attack.

Wonder if there is a Céline fan on staff for that show? hahahaha I was like, "what?!?!"

I would love to see it. I mean 30 minute fireworks woah and Céline is going to be there for sure!

I think I'd like to go if she would have a concert as well, then I think I'd definetly go but not only for 30 min fireworks

I love the part in "SLP" extras at the beginning where she sounds like a man "OUI" into the microphone hahahaha gets me everytime.

ohh I have to check that out!

Wish it had subs!

that part you're talking about I think it's when she's talking into her watter bottle instead of her mic cause she got 'em mixed up in her hand  and she of course realizes that she's talking into her watter bottle and says Je bois mon micro "I drink my microphone" :sofunny:

I'm actually working on a transcript right now for the whole DVD. Hopefully someone will help me later on with the translation and subtitles in English and Spanish.

I think it's great you're doing that for non french-speakers Celinedream. :) Although you really seem to understand very well our accent :thumbsup2: don't hesitate to ask me if you should need some help with more "local" french expressions :giggle: used in the DVD or things you have difficulties to hear. I know almost everything that was said by heart so just PM me!

:whee: OMG Celinedream that would be soooooooo awesome!!!

Best Céline related news this year :giggle:

I have taken years of french lessons when I was in school and could actually talk and read a lot of it when I lived in Luxembourg. But that was like 12 years ago and I've forgotten so much now.

I understand the French-Canadian accent better than the French accent. It must be because of Céline I would think hmm. And I can read and understand a fair bit of Autour Du Monde :)

But I can't help with the translation :ermm: at all!

I can't translate any languages. They are just in there, in my brain and stays there. I speak Danish fluently but no way I can translate it, can't even translate my own language Icelandic into other languages :pinch:

I found this list in UKMIX with the best selling albums of all time.

According to that site LTAL has sold 23,470,000 copies, FIY 22,700,000, ATW 17,555,000 and TCOML 13,570,000.

Do you think that those numbers are true?

Les étoiles tombent une à une. Mes émois sont de saturne.

She has sold more than this for FIY for instance....so I don't think those numbers are accurate. Edited by Lou555

those numbers are for certification awards only. respectively she sold about 32 mil, 31.5 mil, 22.5 mil, 17 mil

 I hated that movie! Nothing was close to the truth, even the car thing was totally made up. They made it sound like Celine practically died. She had a couple bumps and bruises and some cuts and was in the children's hospital over night. The movie had her in a coma with a fractured skull and practically dead. :glare: Why they felt the need to exagerate this I have no clue, I blame the book the movie was based on. Clearly the author had no clue what he was talking about or he just made stuff up for no reason.

I know, it is so stupid! I think in the ''Authorized Biography'' it says that she was confused, vomited and just wanted to sleep. I don't know where they got the whole coma thing from. It sounds like she just had a concussion. I guess the coma thing made the movie more dramatic. Edited by Claudette

Does anyone have the 1998 L'ADISQ video of Céline hosting and the big mesh ball incident?!?! Or point me in the direction of a clip, if there is one?

There used to be a video on YouTube, but I can't find it now. I'll keep looking. I remember she was in this huge ball that was like a cage thingy and she hold on for dear live while singing... She looked like she had everything under control, but I think she was trembling on the inside.

Here's the video with Celine explaining the whole incident.

does it really work? i have a game for the ds that is french...so im kinda learning...i can read more then understand, is the rosetta stone expensive? i really want to learn french...its a goal this year! if the rosetta stone really works i just might invest in it!

Posted (edited)

It does! At least, i am loving it! It depends on which package you get how expensive it is- i got the full set for Christmas but they were running a $125 discount! You can also subscribe online and pay a monthly fee to use the software through the website instead of buying it, but I thought buying it would be better and I wouldn't be forced to follow a timeline, if you know what I mean. There's no English, except on the Home screen, so you dive right in and you actually have to think in French, which is really cool once you realize you are doing it and not translating to English in your head! I lourvvve it!

So as you all know, I'm planning this crazy Céline themed wedding. I would love so much to be able to serve Céline Chocolate Cake from Nickel's at my reception, as the groom's cake (I mean, it's chocolate even!) I've emailed Nickel's about it, but no response just yet. Was wondering if you guys knew if they would ship to the States whole cakes? Or if any of you had done this before, ordered the whole cake from Nickel's and had it shipped to you? I know some people buy the slices and mail them internationally lol.

I thought planning a Céline wedding would be sooooo easy. WRONG. Obstacles at every turn. because what I want is so specific, I am having to do most of it myself...which is pretty stressful.

I contacted the breeder in CA of Céline's roses, because I want them in my bouquet, they HAVE to be in my bouquet! Well, I would have to order 5 plants, have them shipped over and store them in a greenhouse to grow until October and hope and pray that there would be 5 blooms for the wedding day! Sooooooooooooo I hate fake flowers, but, I mean I gotta have my Céline roses (5 for good luck!) mixed into my bouquet so I'm gonna have to dye them/make them out of I don't know what for the wedding to be sure I have 5 perfect céline roses. :whee:

yep. And that's just the roses. I want my invitations to SING A New Day when you open them. They have to. So I may be paying copyright fees for that and trying to make my own singing invitations.

:whee: :whee: :whee: :whee: :whee:

So anyway, does anyone know about Nickel's? sry for the rant haha- stressed out fan here.

Who knows about copyright information here? Like for instance, if I wanted to use A New Day (just the first few bars) kind of like the Hallmark Céline cards recently distributed in my wedding invites, howwww would I go about finding whom to contact and how much that would cost me? I have heard that you can use a certain amount of seconds of music free, as long as it's ____ seconds or less....truth or fiction? Anyone know? I am planning on sending an invitation to Big Mama and I don't want her to give it to Rene and say "Sue her!" I would die. :lol2:

I need Oprah. Oprah help. Desperate fan. Need Oprah.

Rosetta Stone

You're having more luck with Rosetta Stone then me! I had a hard time with the grammar and got to a point where I was getting everything wrong. Then I didn't know which lessons to redo. It is a good program though, just not my learning style. I have found a lot of helpful websites that have lessons and I found a place where you can create online flashcards, so I made a bunch of computer folders/sub-folders and store the lesson links in them. I also store the flashcard links and review them on a regular basis. I'm also surrounded by the French language with my calendar, books, movies, music, and my homepage (Google in French). Oh yeah, and when I write notes, I use French words that I know, in place of the English word (example: "et" instead of "and")

So, it pretty much comes down to your learning style. For me, the way I'm learning is working wonderfully, because I know specifically what I'm working on and I'm merging towards using/seeing French at a comfortable pace. The good thing about Rosetta Stone is they do offer a six-month guarantee, so you can buy it and if you don't like it you can return it, within the six months. Just make sure you don't wait until the last minute. They really put you on a scavenger hunt.

Copyright

I did a report on copyright laws about a year ago. I can't remember specifically, but I believe it has to do with weather your looking to turn a profit from what your using and/or if you could reduce their profit. In this case, your not looking for a profit and I don't believe using song lyrics would hurt their profit. So, I believe as long as you give credit to the song, than you should be okay. But I can't be certain. I would try contacting someone from Céline's team. Or you could see who wrote the song and see if you can get in touch with their management. Another option would be contacting the U.S. Copyright Office. When I did my report, I emailed them asking if something would be a violation and they replied with the answer. Good luck, and good luck with the wedding. I would love to do a Céline themed wedding, but I have no idea of the possibility of that happening. I can just imagine my parents freaking out about it! and my brother finding it to be typical me :sofunny: though no matter what happens, Because You Loved Me is a must for my wedding!

Does anyone know where I can find a ringtone for Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore? My cellphone doesn't let me create my own and I can only find the ringtone through MuchMusic, but that doesn't work since I'm not in Canada.

Have you tryed Myxer.com for custom ringtones?

I took a legal class last semester and learned about copyright laws. It depends on whether or not you're using the song publicly. One definition of the public is the community as a whole, while some consider something as private as an email to be public. I'm pretty sure they use a definition more like the latter in copyright law. I know thirty second rule only applies to situations like amazon.com, where you're sampling to buy. I wouldn't worry about getting in trouble, yourself, but you'll have a problem finding someone who will (break the law) make the cards.

If I were you I'd scrap the song, and do something a little less intrusive. Like... have the card written in Celine's handwriting font!
