A big price? Lmfao. The top ticket here is like £200 less than her london concert. Its not “for rich people” and no, not only old people with money will be attending. Hate to break it to you but 75% of those at the 2017 tour were under 35, so theres that.

And yes her ballads are big but youre all missing the point its a festival. Dolly parton is a country slow song star, she did like 3 slow songs at glastonbury mainly uptempo. BYLM,TPOL,TCOML,IYA etc dont work.

Certain “ballads” do, The reason,Think twice, only one road, the show must go on, its all coming back to me now, all by myself.

Theyve got an edge to them, a better vibe than BYLM. If she does TLYM and BYLM shell get back reviews like madonna for being old and not understanding how festivals work

Id understand if it was a concert concert but its a festival. Just look online on twitter etc at the announcement they all want uptempo

Festivals and festival-goers do come in shapes and sizes and genres, you know...

Not to mention the fact that I have never been to a festival before, I am just going to this one specifically to see Celine.

Dion2000 I understand what you are saying, yes, it's a festival, but if you're expecting something vastly different from Vegas or Tour 2018 I think you are going to be quite disappointed. Now if the album is out by then then she should, should being the key word, do some songs from that. But, this is Celine we are talking about.

This discussion/topic is going to be massive by the time July gets here.

Well, I've been to at least 20 across the UK, US and Canada, and am just here to say not everything is a wanna-be Glasto.

I don't know about BST - last I went to a festival at Hyde Park it was called Hard Rock Calling and organized by Live Nation, before AEG took over before it became BST. Looking at BST history though - Michael Buble headlining last year, for example - it seems to be much more "A/C" than its predecessor.

I honestly hope she leaves the orchestra theme in the past and returns to a normal band setup. At least for a little while.

Exactly, I am sure the organisers know what they are getting when they book these artists. They know that Celine will attract her own very international audience.

I hope not. Orchestra will not fit for the festival. It’s sounds a bit boring. It should be sound more alive like a normal band.

Sur Le Plaines was with an big huge orchestra and that show was sooo good.

So no to her normal band.

Agreed.

It might be however that certain songs need to re-orchestrated differently, mainly the uptempo ones as the current orchestra arrangements kind of suck the energy from the rhythm. ^_^

Saying that I do think that the the layers of instruments give more depth to the songs generally. :wub:

Overall, I’m not against the orchestra. I just think that it’s time to try a different sound for the concertgoers. I highly doubt the orchestra would work all that well if Celine were to want to try performing songs like “Sorry For Love,” “One Heart,” and “When The Wrong One Loves You Right.”

Festival or not the moderate fan in the audience which will comprise 98% is going to want to hear the songs they are more familiar with.

Remember this is london, a great city for singing along, i think our show the 21st mhwgo we sang more than any other crowd.

Like another festival, the Jamaica one featured a more upbeat crowd, meaning they were more willing to stand up and dance and sing. It's evident with the ballads in this show the singing along was stronger than a typical concert with her usual crowd that is calmer.

The ballads are important and will establish immense crowd reaction. Anyone who has been to a show knows this. Yes its a festival, but its also celine and people want what they know. A more upbeat set like 2017 tour is more hopeful. But avoiding the big hits is unavoidable. I just hope these hits can be more of a highlight rather than dragging along the usual rushed hits routine. Make these songs a powerful moment. A strong arrangement can do a lot for a song.

hopefully she will ditch the usual playbacks because the amount of singing along with the crowd will be greater than anyone intently listening like at a regular show.

I like orchestral instruments but it doesn’t fit for uptempo songs. It only fits with slow songs/ballad songs. For uptempo songs it needs to sound more energetic. The sound for the current uptempo songs using orchestra sounds boring like and a bit quiet than the usual arrangement from a normal band like from 90’s-TCWT

etc.

Best for orchestra

Love ballad songs

All by myself

It’s all coming back to me now

etc.

It should be loud

Like david foster’s arrangement in MHWGO back in World Children’s Day 2002

I hope she never scraps the orchestra. Her songs sound sooooo good with it, even the uptempo ones! Sur Les Plaines, Une Seule Fois, 2016 and 2017 tours were examples of that. We should note that Scott did a magnificent job rearranging the setlist and putting some new life in songs Céline had been already performing since before Mégo's departure.

The only issue with the orchestral arrangement of IDAN is that its a low key, however, its a great arrangement and i prefer it to the carbon copy of the TCWT era. Has way more depth. And plus, Scott made THLAL and Misled work so anything is possible. Even those who hate on LCMM/RDMH i LOOOOOOOOVE the brass quality, it makes it so much richer and really takes advantage of a more jazzier sound when revving it up

This is more energetic than the current orchestra arrangement

The arrangement for this is louder and energetic (more in percussions) than the current orchestral arrangement

Maybe this coming show. She can add dancers

I doubt after this residency wraps that her orchestra will attend this.

They are awesome and def brought new life and sound to her songs but it would be nice to have just her band again after all these years

For me, it doesn’t work for uptempo songs plus lower key. It sounds boring. It needs to be louder more percussion instruments. I don’t really like the horns section - it’s like waking up the KRAKEN

I think celine will lead the orchestra, fucnionou with Michael Bublé.So hope they do new things, make new video images, put some uptemp songs, and maybe some dancers.
