What's even the point of an anniversary edition if nothing new is added to it???

 

Are we honestly surprised? Ive come to accept Celine will not celebrate the nostalgia like Mariah who released deluxe editions with bonus songs on extra lp (new songs, remixes, live performances) for music box, rainbow, merry christmas, and butterfly.

 

This is where the difference in artistry vs singing takes a varying path in celebrating an era. I'd be happy to define that more if necessary lol.

I see what you mean, but I’d take Celine’s artistry on stage , and her presence when performing any day over Mariah’s in exchange for the lack of material we get from Celine. When Celine hits the stage she’s mesmerizing. Watching Mariah is just sad.

At this point we haven’t and don’t know if and when we will see Celine onstage again… so it’s time to adapt to having more artistry and focus on new music and more special ways of celebrating the anniversaries like what Mariah does.

I mean... calling it an "anniversary edition" makes no sense if there are zero changes to the album. It's just the standard edition with a fancy title. Maybe it's being remastered, at least that's something. But the marketing seems very misleading.

complete TPOL 1994 rehearsals, 1995 AMA rehearsals. Osaka 1999 and 2008. I'm still on the search for another early bootleg, whether it be Unison tour, self title or TCOML, but no success.

They released many compilations and when they made the cd reedition of "Du soleil au coeur" they add songs from Mélanie & Le vieux monsieur de la rue royale. They don't bought "some" songs. They bought them ALL.

 

So where are the Celebrations albums for the 40th of Mélanie last year, Les chemins de ma maison in 2023, Tellement j'ai d'amour in 2022.. etc.

 

Gosh her first ever album is gonna be 45th next year and they gonna do nothing at all. Why is that? Those albums are not good enough for her big career? They are not part of her? This are not her history? She named her son Eddy because how important he was for her but those albums are not even on her streamings.

 

They dont think maybe some fans wants to discover the songs of her childhood career?

I agree. They should have released a boxset with all her early LP's on CD's for her 40th career anniversary... maybe for her 50th in 2031?!?

It is shameful how her 80s discography has been treated. I've said it in many occasions in the past that these songs are very, very good.

 

Du Soleil Au Coeur, Et Puis Un Jour, Chante-moi, Mon Reve De Toujours, Comment T'aimer, L'amour Viendra, Ecoutez-moi are all little masterpieces.

 

I hope remastered versions end up on Spotify.

Did you notice, the UK version of the Boutique has a wider variety of Celine's records up for sale, compared to the US and French ones. The ATW DVD is even available there.

I remember when I bought the "Taking Chances" album in that dreaded sleeve package, I hated it. Thankfully the next album was back in a standard edition.

 

There is a version of the Taking Chances album that comes in a jewel case. I forget which one it is, but could it be the Taiwan version? I've always wanted to buy it, but never got around to. I'm sure someone here knows exactly which version has the jewel case.

it's the Australian version... "Gold Series"... first it was released with a golden disc, and after with the regular one...

I bought this version on Discogs cause I always hated the slipcase version...

No chance, since Céline like René always opposed to publish the recording songs with Phil since the sessions wasn't a good memories at all for them (René talk about that in his biography Le maître du Jeu).

 

Also, i think they didn't have material for a deluxe, since this era she didn't have others songs recording during the sessions on this album, unlike for the two next english albums. In his biography, the two told to the 10 songs was all the songs they made during the Unison sessions and they didn't others songs. Any Other Way was the very last song recording on this album in end of november 1989.

My friend John found out through an interview with the writer! René Grignon. You can read the interview and the English lyrics here too:

I’m convinced they were recorded, but this hasn’t been confirmed at all.

Celine was already in contract with Sony. So I don't think Celine and René weren't able to stop anything regarding their unique "feeling". It has to refer to Spector's murder condamnation. Americans are afraid of bad publicities. Look at R Kelly duet. Gone. no one ever speak of this duet. It has been erased from the tablets.

 

Plus, We know that we have to take with tweezers what René used to tell. He used to like retelling the story to his benefits

They could easily have a Unison: Deluxe Edition including the various versions of the title track (remix/with and without rap), Can't Live With You, Can't Live Without You, and Wishful Thinking. Not sure if I'm forgetting anything else, but those would be nice additions to the album for a more celebratory anniversary release. They could even throw on Partout Je Te Vois since it's the original French version of an album track.

 

Certainly, the English versions of the Incognito tracks would also be an amazing addition if they do exist.
