What's been bothering me with this TV recording is why the heck do they consistently show shots of the concert with half the screen filled by the arena's ceiling?!

We don't care!!!

Ill still never understand how TCWT ticket sales were so poor. Like this year she sold way better in Australia and Asia and even in The UK TCWTs ticket sales were not sold out where as last year she broke servers with her sales and got records for her achievements.

Her image wasn't what it was now. And to make it worse, the ticket prices were quite expensive (for that period).

And a lot of "general" fans didn't quite warm up to TC ("too edgy")..

Yep. I think too the image was not so good back then. She was successful with a AND Vegas show but she was still in the aftermath of the Titanic backlash. I was at the Frankfurt stadium in 2008: less than half empty; so depressing after having seen her last at the Stade de France in 1999.

They wanted to do way too many shows during TCWT in Germany. Céline has a unique status these days, she sells out Very quickly. 2008 was a different era.

I thought sales of the TCWT shows were good. Here at Brasi during her 2008 Australia tour, it came out on paper that she had beaten record sales in Australia, that her tickets sold out quickly. Weird.

what surprises me is that somebody posted on wikipedia the stats for the tour with all concerts being sold out and it is UNTRUE. Yes, these numbers surely show how many tickets were sold but it has nothing to do with concerts being sold out. I attended 4 concerts and was at the arena during 2 more wanting to buy something. And each time there were plenty of tickets but they didn't want to sell anything for a discounted price even when a concert did begin so I didn't take it. So this makes me think that not necessarily previous tours were sold out entirely either.

Watching the Japan show now, how evident is the playback on the final ohhh-ohhhhhh in TLYM??? :(

I’ve never paid any attention to the use of playback in her shows but I mean this is SO evident :/

The funk medley with her choristes is soooo damn dull to see sorry, and I’m so done with the Purple Rain and all the random covers she includes in her shows taking the place of her own great songs...

And some of her random interjections during the songs like “I need your kiss and I need your love” sound unnecessary.

I LOVED Think Twice. However I’m still not enjoying the violin medley section -sorry that setting it all looks like they’re in the funeral parlour before the casket and mourning (as in Rene’s wake).

She can do waaaay much better than this!

A concert is not "sold out" based on meeting the capacity of the venue, a concert is reported as "sold out" when the tickets placed on sale by the promoter have sold - I appreciate this won't always provide a fair reflection but it's how it's always been.

Keeping her ticket price high is also crucial - she is not an act who people pay to see every year, outside of the core fan base (she is a "once in a lifetime act" who you'll see maybe once every 3-5 years) - and it enables her to gross more than any other soloist alive on a per ticket basis with the exception of Bruce Springsteen (who's playing intimate theatres). Once Madonna returns to live performance, you'll see just how far ahead she and Celine are of every other female artist as far as ticket price goes, it's quite something.

Céline Dion, music's greatest ever singer, the biggest-selling Canadian artist of all-time and most successful female live act ever - what's not to love?

The Tokyo concert is so refreshing! So nice to have a current recording of a live show.

The song selection is very nice (with the exception of the weird and booring covers following the funk act - however Purple Rain sounds quite nice).

Finally having TT recorded is such a blessing. Love it! Love it! Love it! Was scared the brass arrangements would ruin the rock feel but it was allright.

The Reason. Said it before and says it again... something happened with this song during this tour! Never thought it worked live before. But now.... wow!! I want more performamces like this. Pure soul.

At Seventeen and its intro is the highlight of the show and I wish she'd do more songs in the style of this. So beautiful. So right. So artistic. So classy.

The funk medley could have been replaced with Céline songs.

Am I the only one who thinks it's more obvious than ever where the songs are lipped? Doesn't she sound more nasal when it's really live?

I didn't miss the cut songs at all. I mean come on, from what I've heard from the bootlegs FIY is horribly and obvioulsy lipped.

What I did miss however was Be the Man in Japanese. I mean seriously. Here even a lipped version would do just for the fact that she actually recorded a song in Japanese and now she's in Japan. With this song and last year's intro before TPOL the concert would had been complete.

Again nice to finally have a new recording. And fun to hear her say so many Japanese phrases - one doesn't forget that she's in Japan and it's quite nice.

Now I wish this concert will be shown on great broadcasting time on TV this Christmas.

I know that she is ahead, it's good. BUT just as I posted earlier not ALL tickets placed on sale by the promoters have sold. I was there and promoters even approached us individually offering tickets because they saw us waiting but their "discounts" were not enough for us to buy more tickets.

Also, in Manila we sat in different (better) seats in the arena because we saw on the website that these were not sold out... That's all I'm saying.

Again, it's great how well she sells regardless the prices but they were NOT sold out.

If the promoter reports them as a sell-out, then they are sell-outs - your opinion, my opinion is irrelevant. The promoters will often try and sell to the capacity of the venue to maximise their personal ROI (unless your Mariah Carey, in which case they box off entire sections anyway) - what you're describing isn't anything different to any artist.

I would imagine the promoter also has some sort of deal with Celine's team in which they are contractually obliged to report all shows as sell-outs (your argument could be applied to any one of any artists tours) - and even if not, I've seen crowd shots for most of the shows and the arenas are PACKED (the only disappointment from a boxscore POV was the Manilla dates, and I think much of that was driven by the steep ticket price and the local weather conditions), so I imagine it's only a few tickets (relative to the arena capacities) that are being flogged.

When she came to Spain to promote ANDHC, she performed At Last in the TV but surprisingly not Aun existe amor.

When she came to México and Puerto Rico during the TCWT in 2008, she didn't perform any Spanish song either.

I lost faith long ago in what seemed a genuine interest of her in singing in as many different languages as possible. It's just plain ridiculous, you are in a country where you have recorded songs in that language, you have the chance to perform them, and you sing the English version instead of the Japanese one.

But then she spends all the speeches thanking and saying phrases in Japanese to please the audience. Rrrrrright :innocent: :innocent: :innocent:

Every little thing that means an extra effort to rehearse and prepare something new, different and out of her comfort zone seems like a great feat for her to do these days

yeah, what’s the point in recording these Spanish songs when she doesn’t even sing them on tv when in Spain? They should be released as singles in Spain and promoted with performances Edited by ryba

I forgot to mention that I really like the bits she's adding to MHWGO. Makes that song interesting to listen to again. Love when she's improvising during her old tunes giving them new life.

How do you know it was promoters who approached you? What site did you see those free seats? Because sometimes tickets are not sold through sites like Viagogo, but those tickets are in fact already sold.

because

a. they presented themselves as such

b.they wore official badges

and

c. they offered both official seats available on the website/at the box office and also sold "fake" seats like near the engineers etc

I meant official websites of the respective arenas

She records a Spanish song... to perform it in France :innocent: (she performed Aun existe amor in French TV show Vivement Dimanche) :giggle:

Yeah, the coherence of Céline's team comes back from a long run through the years :P

Yep, just posted the video above ;) She still gives me the chills when I see her performing this song in Spanish SO beautifully :wub: Despite being playback, she’s barely looking to any teleprompter (not that you can notice at least), her gaze is always fixed at the camera and the front. She really seems to know the lyrics by heart those days :wub;

Sadly, today everything is so arranged and measured that even the speeches she recites on her shows are usually written on the screen :(

It was. That's why I always wished she'd record that Spanish album, because her professionalism and hard work pronouncing the Spanish is unparalleled among her fellow singers. No other foreign singer has recorded in Spanish with such quality as Céline. In Sola otra vez and Amar haciendo el amor you can tell she's not a native because despite having already a great pronunciation, she still sings with a strong accent the "s", the "c" and the "r", but in Aun existe amor... she sounds as if she had spoken the language all her life, no imperfections. It's just a flawless recording! ^_^

I wouldn’t have imagined Celine singing Aún Existe Amor in Música Sí back then, not the kind of audience for this song, they almost fall asleep with At Last haha Edited by manu23

Yes, but between At Last and a song that they will understand right away because it's performed in their local language, what makes more sense??? :innocent: At Last was the most stupid choice for an audience that consisted completely of teenagers and young fans in their 20s, so any other song from the album wouldn't have been worse than that, starting with the uptempo songs (RIFOY for example) and following with the epic ballads included in the album. But At Last???
