With Vegas, since she started her residency there in 2003, Céline wouldn't grow no more as an artist. And God knows she could have grown way much more if she hadn't been limited with that permanent contract (especially during the first residence), that didn't allow her to do more projects and participate in other plans we know she would have liked to do (cinema for example). Vegas gave her a stability to perform for decades? Yes, but it also was the main obstacle that impeded her to do countless other things that would have made her even a bigger artist Oh, come on! I assume you, as a fan, know A LOT of interviews with her, where she nearly always emphasized her priorities on being a mom. Well, somehow I can understand, that some fans, like you, can't get the importance of such a priority. Maybe they are very young, never/not yet had children, or are men, who mostly tend to put career first - but whatever. I'm sure, if Celine wanted to extend her career, she would have done it. But don't you get it: She's been in the spotlight since she was 12, till she was 32 her life contained mainly of tours, recording, photoshoots, red carpet events, further tours, often one concert after the other. Although I don't know you: I'm sure you've got stressful situations in your life too, and sometimes choose to step a little slower. - But Celine never really stopped, even in her "offtime" there had been some small "limelight"-events. But Rene loved her so much, that he fulfilled her dream of a stable home AND being on stage. Although the first years in Vegas where so merciless packed with performance after performance, that her sicknesses showed a clearly sign of her limits. Then the world tour, never really stopping, traveling the world, another album here, another album there - she followed Rene's wishes, although she always said, she wanted to stop and enjoy her motherhood. Some of her fans never have enough. And if she does something that isn't even enough. And if she is lipping that is a disaster - in the eyes of some fans she should be singing until blood runs out of her ears and nose and still then, it wouldn't be enough. There is an opera by Jacques Offenbach, "Les Contes d'Hoffmann" (bases on short stories of E.T.A. Did you hear how she slayed TR and TT? Such ease and agility there. And her ICHFIL accapella is just everything. Everybody in the audience is in awe of her vocals and stamina.
