Hahaha, she's been rerecording all the tour songs in her hotel at night during these days, they thought it would be great to give us all them in her 2017 voice, but in studio versions instead!!! :w00t: Exciting.

Ok, I'm trying to make sense of this whole thing. Sony France is releasing this in France only, yes? Celine and her team have absolutely nothing to do with this release? This is just Sony France capitalizing on her success and the fact that she has a new tour - they are putting together a release to coincide with it so they can make some money off of her being one of their clients? That's just regular ol' business and how business operates everywhere - making money however possible.

 

A Live CD of the tour or a DVD of the tour would take a collaboration from Celine and her people alongside Sony music? All of those different factions would have to come together and negotiate who gets paid what, etc.

 

But with this release, none of that has to happen. No one gets paid anything. Sony owns the music. They see Celine has a current tour and they are releasing a 3 CD set with the studio tracks they already own - thereby putting in no effort and no more capital, they can just take in money hand over fist.

 

That's just business. Am I missing something?

 

Is there somewhere that this is being advertised as a live CD? I mean, I get that they've put the track list in the order of her tour but the tracks don't say "(Live)" and the release doesn't call it a live CD or have the word "live" anywhere in the promotion of it?

 

Where is the confusion? I know I must be missing something here.

As long as she asks between 600 and 700 euros for VIP packages and front row seats and public is willing to pay, they will keep releasing any crap, because it's secure fans will always buy it!

 

I read that Billy Joel doesn't sell front row tickets to his shows, he raffles them to people with cheap seats so that he can face his real fans and not just his rich ones! I have to respect that!

Yes, Britney Spears just released a tour edition with a bonus cd of the songs on her Asian tour. Only contained one new song which was a remix of Me Against the Music taking Madonna'a vocals out (and her royalties as well I'd assume).

And remember that Sur Les Plaines was released without Sony. So Sony and Céline's team don't always have to work together for a release.

If we knew that a live album and DVD were also planned no one would be so angry about this release. What's the harm in having another comperlation? It's not like they aren't adding something to it.... the 3rd disc looks interesting...

I always remember my dad liked Shirley Bassey..... he would always pick up a CD of hers despite it being mostly the same songs over and over.... he enjoyed it regardless. Was always a good Xmas/birthday present!

 

And TBH what is so wrong with this CD?

 

It has a few new songs not in other compilations.... it has some less known songs and also this disc 3......

 

Like I said before.... if we knew a live CD/DVD were coming out too.... no one would be kicking up such a stink!

 

I'm going to be buying it.... I like the cover.... I like they have used the old logo....I like that they are doing something whilst there is no new material to release.... I like that they are giving fans something new on the 3rd disc....

 

When people buy an album of an artist for the first time.... it is usually a compilation to begin with.... they are important to introduce an artist to new fans and I think this release has a fair amount of great tracks.... some showing a more modern side to her... ONCP doesn't do this as it is over 10 years old.

 

Some of you are getting too caught up in wanting a DVD

Only thing to celebrate for hardcore fans is the return of the classic logo (though a cheap version of it), after 15 years absent from any music product.

 

Let's see if they keep it from now on in her future studio albums too...

You can post selectively but I don't know if that also works for countries

Reading again I would switch place on boring and available but "Et je t'aime encore" is available on the single and MHWGO on the japanese version of TASP. They are advertising the third disc on french amazon as "chantez les plus grands titres de Céline Dion sur leurs versions instrumentales officielles".. thinking they could have pulled better songs like On ne change pas, TPOL etc.. which are bigger hits than "Qui peut vivre sans amour?"..

If it would be in French so it should be

1: " I love Pour que tu m'aimes encore and I lost my JJGoldman CD..."

OR

2 "I love the chanson du titanic and I lost my titanic CD.." because few are the French people who remembered the name of this song because it's in English xD

I'm going to buy it. It's rare that we get a bilingual compilation. I still find the last disc nauseating and it's such a shame that Recovering and TSMGO is not on it. Hopefully they accidentally press the wrong mixes like they did on TEC 3.0.

I'm also keeping my preorder in. On the contrary, I'm buying it for the third disc. But yeah, despite wanting a live album, it's still a pretty cool collection of songs. I still don't forgive them for putting the songs in the order of the tour though.
