Yup, the news that they contacted her team for a performance came out was after this was recorded if I'm correct.

 

And this is just for the semi final.

Yes, and why would they record this so long ago?? The first we saw Celine in this outfit was for star academie in October of last year… the Siri video was also recorded on the same day in October. We are actually talking about 7 months ago and that’s when we saw the first video from that day who knows how long before they actually filmed it? It’s all odd.

That's soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo disappointing. And others performing her song... I don't give a s*** about a tribute. All of this is SO wrong.

 

Nothing is coming ever again I guess. Just pizza recipes and random videos for random days like Mother's Day, Independence Day or National Chocolate Day. Nothing substantial.

 

If they didn't use the Olympics, didn't learn their lesson and ignore this, there is literally no other way she would come back for real. So many missed opportunities.

The problem with the second thing you mention that I have is that the video was recorded before Saudi Arabia and somehow she made it there... And Eurovision/Switzerland deserve at least just as much. Not a 1 minute video of saying generalities, she didn't even elaborate on the contest, her participation, the song, nothing

I think they recorded it so long ago for convenience. When she books these studios or gets the filming equipment set up, she naturally wants to knock a few things out at once.

 

Whenever she filmed the Mother's Day video probably would've been soon enough to film another Eurovision message if needed, but they already had it done.

But I'd bet it's about health -- more likely vocal health. She'd have to record a new version of the song to lip to, or sing it live. And most likely she's still not able to do either of those to her satisfaction.

I think it’s actual studio… but who knows. But it does 100% look to be the same studio as this message..also the football Gatorade ad.

I don’t get why people are so disappointed. We never got any kind of confirmation and the organizers kept the mystery going just for the sake of buzz. Celine has no obligation to be here just because she won the contest in the past. Nobody really complained about ABBA not showing last year (and it was the 50th anniversary of them wining Eurovision, in their own country).

That being said, a message in the first semi final (which theme is Switzerland) does not mean she won’t show up on saturday if they really want to make it big.

 

And I miss her quebec accent. I don’t get why she’s going for that unatural French accent (Even the « bisous » sounds weird, and I’m French lol)

This has nothing to do with her health problems. It has all to do with Celine not being interested in Eurovision, pretty much confirming what we had all noticed through the years. Whether we like it or not, she has outgrown the ESC, she has proven to be much bigger than it and she clearly views herself that way.

 

An apology video recorded shortly before the performance could be attributed to health problems. An apology video recorded so long ago should only be attributed to lack of interest.

Yup Luke, she’s never seemed that bothered about Eurovision post winning it. In fact the only time I can recall her talking about it was on Jonathan Ross in 2013 when she was directly asked about it.

 

I get why people make the connection. Oh Switzerland won and are hosting so Celine MUST be there! But even if there were no issues at all in Celine’s life I think she would STILL only send a video message. In general, Eurovision these days isn’t held in the esteem it was when she won it.

 

Suggesting she’s being disrespectful to Eurovision or Switzerland by only recording a video and should return cos she won it 37 years ago is like saying she HAS to attend the Grammys every year for the rest of her life just because she won some at some point in her career.

 

She’s allowed to be just not very interested in going.

I agree with this. The fact it’s a video (recorded so long ago) over an appearance suggests she either didn’t want to do it, she is busy and doesn’t have the time or she didn’t think she would be well enough.

I see we're all a bit down on this forum.

 

Eurovision is 3 shows:

- The first is tonight (Tuesday) with the first semi-final.

- The second semi-final is on Thursday.

- The third is Saturday with the final.

 

There are also rehearsals with the public and the video is on a rehearsal with the public in the stadium.

 

We all know that Céline arrives at the last minute. Last summer, she arrived two days before her performance and left the next day.

 

She may not be there for the semi-finals, but she'll be there for the final on Saturday!

If she is showing up before Saturday in Paris we might are in for a treat on Saturday.

However, the '2 minutes reserved for Celine' doesn't sound promising in terms of a performance.
