It was reported that Dion sent in a video message for the first semi-final rehearsals wishing the contestants luck, appearing to rule out her return, but this appeared to be dismissed by Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR.

An SRG SSR spokesman said: “All elements of the first semi-final show were played through and rehearsed intensively.

“There are currently no changes regarding Celine Dion – we are still in close contact with her.”

It honestly begs the question, what is happening? Is she literally just living her life day to day and enjoying herself (absolutely delighted for her if she is - it’s earned) or is the plan for her career to resume sometime?

Guys, we have had zero indication EVER from Celine or her team that she would ever attend Eurovision this year- it is the event organisers who are dangling the carrot and teasing us and stringing it along. The whole ‘we are in contact with her team’ could also be BS or a huge exaggeration to build the hype we saw before the Olympics and the whole ‘will she, won’t she’. If she doesn’t appear, meh…but Celine never said maybe I will.

It’s obvious. No Las Vegas no tours. We might get the odd performance. If she wanted to she could little recordings. More interviews. She doesn’t. She was plugging the film last year. The disease is serious. We must accept that things won’t be as before. Perhaps the Olympics were a goodbye.

 

What puzzles me is timings. She was on tour 2020. 21 she’s interviews saying new show. 22 nothing diagnosed. Suddenly the voice is gone.

But I like how the audience are listening and so quiet and respectful to Céline’s message. I’m pretty sure they’re expecting also Céline to be there in person but I like how understanding they are to Celine.

Organizers of Eurovision are full of crap or something could be planned. But I don’t BUY is they are still “hoping” Celine will perform… Either she’s already rehearsed or she’s not planning on performing… if she accepted the only way she would back out would because of her health last minute. If that’s the case, she would already had rehearsed if not in Switzerland in general. So they are literally feeding us a narrative to keep the hype going or spilling t the possibility of her performing. Either way it’s weird.

I don’t care if it’s confirmed or not personally, I just wish to the producers of the show would stop using the possibility of her attending/performing to build up hype. It’s actually really poor form of the show’s producers to keep circulating and physically speaking about ‘there still being a chance’ that she could perform, especially if she never was going to in the first place. Maybe they were in touch with her team but maybe they were told no right from the start….we likely will never know. To keep milking genuine fan excitement is pretty shitty

I am a Eurovision fan too so here is how it works:

 

There are two semis that 10 countries each qualify from on Tuesday and Thursday and the Grand Final on Saturday.

These three shows have been rehearsed and prepared for weeks. The video message is definitly tonight. I have friends who have press accreditation and the message plus the performance of Ne partez pas sans moi by other artists was always in dress rehearsals.

 

So. Either they use the video message in a semi final which I think is weird, because less people watch that than the grand final or they think Céline will actually be in the final and thats why they use the message now as they already have it, so why not.

 

A Swiss tabloid has said that 2 minutes are reserved for Celine in the final. I hardly think they would do that and NOT include the video message by Celine herself in the Grand Final.

The organizers of Eurovision are sometimes like Team Celine and a bit.... special but this would make no sense at all.

 

Conclusion: I am very hopeful!
