Shania said that she considered giving this song to Céline Dion, but her husband convinced her to keep the song. Imagine Céline singing this song. This song is one of my favorirtes. Hazel was one of those very rare things - a nearly universally-loved politician. She was mayor of the city of Mississauga - which she built from a collection of villages in the 70s to one of Canada's largest and most thriving cities - for 36 years. Ran unopposed for something like 12 times... nobody even bothered challenging her!She was born in Gaspé (like Celine's mom) and grew up in Quebec, where she was one of the first women to play pro hockey in the 40s. Then she moved to Ontario and eventually got into municipal politics. A true legend and one badass lady. She served as mayor until age 93.
