marc-02 Posted November 24, 2020 at 04:15 PM Posted November 24, 2020 at 04:15 PM Amazing to know that IACBTMN was Sam Smith's "first memory of music." If Sam heard the song in 96 or 97, that would make them 4 or 5 years old! 2 Quote
Nmj Posted November 24, 2020 at 05:07 PM Posted November 24, 2020 at 05:07 PM Interesting to see how many of these celebrities that Celine “loves” like Sam Smith, Adele, Sia, among others, all “LOVE” Celine but yet none of them record duets with her. It seems clear as day as Celine is the type to not push it much, they would have to ask her but she would Certainly do it. Come on, Sam Smith write a song for this moment! 1 Quote

smw Posted December 14, 2020 at 07:05 PM Posted December 14, 2020 at 07:05 PM I've been wondering lately... who are Celine's biggest celebrity supporters TODAY? Sadly, it seems like the Oprah days are gone. (Fingers crossed they reunite!) But who are the people who still talk about Celine in interviews / publicly support Celine to this day (in 2020)? A few who come to mind... -Gloria Estefan, Shania Twain, Barbra Streisand, Lady Gaga (newly onboard), Kelly Clarkson, Katie Couric, Gayle King, Josh Groban Who else? Quote

It seems clear as day as Celine is the type to not push it much, they would have to ask her but she would Certainly do it. Come on, Sam Smith write a song for this moment! It's totally fine that it didn't happen, but the one I think is most surprising is SIa. She's worked with Celine on both of her two last English albums, and with Courage she wrote three songs. Why didn't they make Lying Down a duet, or at least make Sia a featuring artist? They both recorded vocals for it, and it surely would have become popular. and probably a hit. Sia is the one that actually works with Celine when she asks her to, so why didn't Celine ask for a duet? 3 Quote
PuraVida Posted December 24, 2020 at 02:43 AM Posted December 24, 2020 at 02:43 AM I think duets are harder to come by....you need a good song and both schedules to work. It is normal in the industry for these type of lovefests to happen without much coming out of them. Quote

mirage Posted December 24, 2020 at 07:26 PM Posted December 24, 2020 at 07:26 PM (edited) Talking about schedules, most of her duets they weren't even in the same studio recording it. So these days that shouldn't matter much. But it's time for a groundbreaking duet. Coldplay and Céline DionAdele and Céline DionSam Smith, Ed Sheeran. I mean, not being in the same studio has been available forever. But schedules still matter. That was apparently why she and Aretha never got to duet. Studios get booked far in advance, people go on tours, they go overseas, etc. etc. And they are often on record company timelines, too. Not to mention, they're record company has to probably agree to pay them. Quote
smw Posted December 27, 2020 at 07:19 PM Posted December 27, 2020 at 07:19 PM (edited) Glad Celine actually watched and responded to this! Hopefully she will be inspired by Sam’s kind words & go back to her roots and embrace her “proper” and “musical theatre” style of singing. The kind that was inspired by Whitney Houston and Barbra Streisand, not Adele or Sia or LP. The kind of singing that made her an icon. And fingers crossed they record a duet someday! They clearly respect each other. It’s wonderful to have a relevant artist like Sam speaking so highly of Celine. Edited December 27, 2020 at 07:23 PM by smw Quote
