It surprises me how easily people come to conclusions from a low quality recording: the song is bad, the song will be forgotten, it won't be nominated to the Oscars, ... The success of a soundtrack mainly depends on how successful the movie is, TYLAM was a great song but Bicentennial Man was a flop and so was the song, same song on Avatar for instance would have been a hit and probably nominated to the Oscars.

 

This movie is expected to break some records according to industry insides so lets wait and see, at least to listening to the song in HQ.

Got a working link. I liked it for being a moviesong and we all heard the demo by alan menken. This is the more professional orchestral version. I think we need to hear the HQ version first because this one is just a recording made with a smartphone. The backgroundtrack therefor sounds muted and Celine's voice is most prominent.

That said, the melody is not frozen material in my opinion...but let's hear the hq version first. Then i judge again.

It's a bit funny that people here are envisioning an Oscar nomination. Reminds me of a Quebecer journalist suggesting that "Unfinished Songs" could get a nomination back then. And we know that both the song and the film went unnoticed.

 

First of all, let's do our part of the work to make this song find a life. Stream the song through different outlets, more streams attract more people and that makes a song enter the charts.

 

What the Academy does is unpredictable. Masterpieces like "Then You Look At Me" were ignored and slow songs with zero production are nominated.

 

I think the new version of BATB will get all the attention. Sony or Disney should upload the original video to youtube so that Celine's version gets attention too."

You cannot compare "A Song For Marion" with an international blockbuster signed by Disney which is what BATB will be.

 

This movie will really be a great platform for the song to shine and not go unnoticed.

I wasn't going to listen to the song, but I broke down and finally listened to it today. Even though the quality is not in HQ, may I just say that Celine sounds freaking amazing! This is what I'm talking about. This is an example of a well produced song. I think this is one of, if not my favorite English ballad of hers, in recent years.

 

Some people might think the song is corny and outdated or whatever, but I think it's pure powerhouse Celine and I hope it makes it onto her new English album. It ties in perfectly with the loss of Rene and Celine's voice sounds gorgeous in it! Can't wait for the movie even more now!

Though I would equally understand if she wants to keep them far away from the business and out of the spotlight.

 

I wonder how good the twins' English is, as I assume she speaks to them exclusively in French at home.

(We made a point of avoiding English at home when my little brother was born because we figured he'd learn it anyway when he went to school and started having local friends.)

Yeah i would totally understand if she wouldn't bring the twins.

I think she said in one interview that they speak French at home but watch movies in English.
