Idan has been done during a new day and the last english tour... so I'd rather swap that one this time around.

 

Lcmm pleasssssssse scrap this on this tour for another song, I'm so sick of it, there are other uptempos that haven't been performed in years or have never been done live before.

 

I just don't want a recycled Vegas setlist that's what I fear most!

 

Really hope IDAN isn't the opener 😣

I wouldn't mind that version being performed, but wanted (and still hoping lol) for something different as the opener. A surprise. Not the usual IDAN TPOL IACBTMN BYLM opening 😂

I kept mentioning and pushing it to Aldo in early Jan\Feb and Scott is aware also that a large majority of fans want to hear it live and after last year's amazing setlist in Paris, now is thee perfect time to hear it... and if it turns out that it's not in the setlist then I'm pretty sure that we will never get to see it performed.

Can't remember for which Vegas run, but in the showprogram they are watching the videoclip.

So wonder why that was.

I just looked at the blurry setlist again. It looks like "Then You Look At Me" could be after where Tim thinks "Taking Chances" is placed. If that's true, that eould be two vocally demanding songs one right after the other. That would pretty much guarantee one would be lipped. I hope that isn't the case.

It was from the first incarnation of the show. Honestly, I think they were watching the clip for when the show was to be based on Hollywood movies. After that idea was tossed, I bet they never gave the song another thought.

Exactly Carlos, and that's the whole point about it now. At this point of her career, I don't even care if she sings playback at least once one of these songs. But it's a total shame and frustration that we don't have a single performance of all those songs, Then You Look At Me, I Know What Love Is, Faith, Je lui dirai, Rien n'est vraiment fini... not even a playback performance back on the year they were released.

 

Not even ONE. And then think she has delivered more than 1,200 times MHWGO or TPOL or BYLM. It's frustrating, to say the least.

 

So playback? Who cares, as long as she gets to perform the damn songs at least once in her career. Her voice is not going to be the same as in 1999 or 2003, for starters So playback? So be it.

Best one was 16 August 2008 to me. I could have a video of her singing those adlibs on repeat for an hour and never tire of it :wub:

People saying they want playback or don't care need to have your temperatures checked. Makes no sense to me. Encouraging laziness when we finally have an interesting idea is like one step back one step forward.

 

Personally, that's why I didn't care when the reason was dropped from set list. After March 15th 2011 it's magic was all used up lol. It was so nice and refreshing to have a rare song performed again but aside from 15 seconds of rehearsal vocals never once did we get a genuine performance. Such a wasted spot for me. I'd rather have live and let die and nobody does it better sung live than the reason to be lipped! Lol.

So I'd rather have a video of these songs with a nicely done playback performance, than a live performance with her current voice that shows the evidence that her voice has changed a lot recently, or where she struggles to belt the song as she would have easily done it back when she recorded it in the studio.

 

Example: Et je t'aime encore. I will always stand for the "1f&4t" 2003 TV special playback performance before any of the 2016 tour performances, where she struggled hard to belt the notes and even hold her breathing through them. Yes, I know that most of the times she still sang the song nicely, but still, nothing compared to the 2003 album version. Not even the 2004 Vegas performance (which was probably one of the few decent tracks on the 2004 live CD).

 

Not so long ago, Celine could easily match the studio versions of her songs with her live performances, and even beat them. This doesn't happen today anymore, or with less frequence (that's obvious).

 

On the other hand: yes, I know there's no way they're going to use the album track of songs like TYLAM to do playback in a 2017 show, but *if* she were to perform this song on any other event, like one of those TV shows she usually does in France and where they always use playback (like when she performed I'm Alive and ABM with the album versions during the promotion of LMBTL in 2013) I wouldn't complain a bit on that performance. After all, it will be a video of her performing the song as we know it from the CD, finally

I might be one of the oddballs here, but I'm really hoping IDAN get's added in. It's the song that made me fall in love with Celine and it's hard not to sing and dance along to when I hear it come on. TYLAM would be ah-mazing as well!!!

 

Honestly whatever she decides to sing will be perfect lol.

I generally like most of your posts more than others tend too , but this one I have to disagree with a million percent.

 

If she CAN'T sing it the same or decent for that matter than what is the point in a wasted spot?

 

And I'm sure a lot of people would have felt the same about tous les blues last summer before it was added in.

 

I guess the point I'm saying is if I have ANY desire for a random/rare/unknown song than it absolutely NEEDS to be sang live. Not playback.

 

Songs that are CHOSEN should be live.

 

Songs literally required like hits that have to be sang -i can tolerate more with playback.

 

Then again. I've said a dozen times now that i would much rather see an artistic show with 100% given ten times a year than I would 70 shows with tiresome excuses for the same stuff each time.

Well I would have to disagree.

 

The way she sang Et je t'aime encore during the concerts was emotionally stronger than the recorded version. At the Paris concert it was goosebumps throughout the whole performance. And during a concert that's what matters, isn't it.

Javito- you'd rather have a polished playback performance of something rather than her current voice? We follow Céline for her voice. For 30 years she has sung for us and it's changed, just like she has. I love all the nuances in her voice and how it's changed- yes, I loved the purity and power of the past, but I love to hear how she adapts live, like when she sings MHWGO, how she compensates for not maybe being able to deliver 100% how it was- what we then get is magic.

 

She's a singer. An amazing one. No playback required or desired.
