Review - Part 3

 

The Fans

 

This is the final part of my review and I think the only one that could potentially cause some controversy. So please read what I am saying with an open mind. I will only be stating facts and then my opinion on what happened. To check these facts you can direct questions to CelinesDIVO5 who was with me all the time.

 

As I said in the first part of my review, me and CelinesDIVO5 were waiting for Celine in the lobby of Hyatt Regency Hotel. Next to us there were two women, ages between 55 and 60 I would say. They identified we were fans and they started talking about Celine. The first one with the blonde hair said Celine has a reputation of being obnoxious and rude to her fans, to which we replied that we were not aware of such incidents. CelinesDIVO5 said he had met Celine and that she was very friendly and even took a photo with her. The second woman, who had red hair, said she saw Celine in person and that she looked 'very ugly'. I explained that Celine usually does not wear any make up when she moves in and out of hotels. After that I never talked with them. CelinesDIVO5 who is a more positive and friendlier person than I am kept discussing with them. To me, they were non-existent. Just about 20 minutes of discussion went by until my ear got that these two ladies WERE ACTUAL FANS WHO HAD PAID A TICKET TO ATTEND THE CONCERT! You can imagine my surprise. After a few minutes, a third woman, the one with the broken leg who lied to Celine that she had hurt her leg in her attempt to take a ticket, told us that she had seen Celine and that she looked very 'frail and old'. Another fan who not only attended the concert but was also the first one to take a selfie with Celine.

 

During the concert we were seated in Block E, row 2. On my left I had CelinesDIVO5 and on my right side I had a couple, a man and a woman. The woman was a huge Celine fan, she really loved her, while the man was there because of his partner. They gave me the impression that she had actually dragged him there. Same goes for a heterosexual couple that were sitting right in front of me. Both were cold during the concert, but the man was also making it clear that he was there because of his woman, at some point he hugged the man next to me as if they were going through this together.

 

Other than that, as far as I could see, nobody shared my excitement for this concert. There were people enjoying themselves but to me watching Celine perform was like a sacred thing. It annoyed me that the couple next to me would talk during Recovering. Celine was pouring her soul out and the man interrupted my experience of witnessing Celine singing Recovering to offer me a drink! If they were I looked at him could kill, then he would be dead. He destroyed the moment for me. Same goes for Love Of My Life when two girls started taking selfies smiling like dumb chicks, instead of being at awe for having Celine in front of them sing.

 

I am one of the few members here, if not the only one, who never agreed with the notion that the audience of her tours exclusively consists of hardcore fans, her 'real fans', like many of you say, unlike the audience in Vegas which consists of 'rich, drunken tourists'. To me, this particular concert confirmed that I was right. There are MANY generic fans in her concerts and even people who are very disrespectful. I basically got to know 5 people, out of which only 1 was a true fan, the lady next to me. I cannot speak of Vegas, as I have never attended a single show there. But as far as her tours are concerned, next time I see any of you perpetuating the notion that only hardcore fans go to her concerts outside Vegas, I will be calling you out on it. I have not lied about a single thing in this post, hope you believe that. As I said, CelinesDIVO5 was there and can confirm what I say.

 

All in all, the concert was amazing. Had the audience been more engaging (except for songs like TT, ABM, BYLM, TSMGO, RDMH, MHWGO) it would have been even better.

I despised that couple sitting next to you. He was drunk and stupid, she was loud and ridiculously obnoxious. But that's my luck usually. These are the types of people I attract. I'm a magnet. Hence my Facebook posts about my guests at work LOL.

I believe you! In Berlin there was a couple sitting next to me. I think the women was the fan of Céline and the man was only there as her partner. But I'm not sure, because both were sitting with a bored face through the whole show. When I stood up at some songs, they were watching at me, if I'm silly or wath. It was really sad.

 

The two women you met at the hotel were also rude, imo. I mean, I don't like everything, Céline is doing, I don't like all her outfits and so on. But I would never say to anyone, she is ugly or old or rude to her fans. Imo, it's sad, that somebody, who considers him/herself as a fan, are saying something like this. :(

Back to Spain now! Woah guys, what an incredible journey this second trip to London for me to see Céline

 

So last Thursday I had nothing planned and on Friday evening I was sleeping in Madrid to take a flight on Saturday morning and be in London again to see her shows The best things happen when you don't do so much planning guys (or no planning at all, like it was my case! )

 

So on Saturday, after 3 hours wandering the O2 trying to meet someone from her team to hand over a letter and CD that I brought with me for Céline ("just in case", you know"), I gave up and at 8 I just went to the doors to see Veronique and enjoy the show. I was in block B3, still good seats and in the main floor, but of course nothing compared to watch her close in block A or the first rows. So when Veronique finished and while we were waiting for Céline to start, I took my mobile and checked this forum, just to see what was going on... and then an incredible generous fan (THANK YOU Gustav) says he's offering a free ticket to see her in block 112 (right next to the stage), first row A, because he got a better seat in block A, and he doesn't want the ticket to waste. Well, I thought this was just a joke and that by the time I would send him a message, there probably would be like 10 more fans wanting that ticket. But shocking as it may seem, apparently I was the only one who wrote or showed interest, so there I was, having Celine meters from me on the right of the stage, and with a crane camera filming everything in front of my nose . I felt like being on heaven all the show. I will never thank enough this fan, God bless you Gustav for your disinterested generousity, not many fans can speak the same here!!

 

But as if that great bonus wasn't enough, just when I left my seat (the one I had purchased) to go and find this fan in block A2 row A (I had to get through all the VIP fans and make them stand up to get across the row ), I stumbled on Pepe. Pepeeeeeeeeee!!! Haha the guy is taller than it looks in the videos! And he's really shocked by all this attention. Apparently he likes to mix with the audience and walk around before the show starts, he says that helps him to relax. We chatted a bit about why the song "Le ballet" and how's working with Céline. He's a fan too, he never expected under any circumstances to bring all this attention with a French song that wasn't even a commercial single, but so pleased that the fans are enjoying it. Then we took some pictures and I just told him that I posted first his name and pictures on this forum before anyone actually knew who "the dancer with Céline" was, before his name jumped on any paper or media on the Internet, and he just smiled and laughed and said "well thank you, because that gave me thousands of followers on instagram all of a sudden and on a daily basis" He was really nice and despite all the pressure with the rumours about he and Céline being an item, he doesn't pay much attention and he's enjoying the way and making the most out of it, so everything is fine.

 

Then I asked him if he could give my letter and CD to Céline and he said "of course", so I was like in total shock of happiness. I told him about the CD and the artist, a Spanish artist named Rocío Dúrcal which is the biggest selling female artist in Spanish language of all time (same as Julio Iglesias but in female category), and he told me he was also a big fan lol Of course I don't expect anything out of this, but the sole thought that someone from her team finally gives her something you had wanted to send her for so a long time ago, it's very special. And hopefully Pepe makes Céline have an itch for recording in Spanish again

 

The rest of the Saturday show was like heaven. From that moment, two totally unexpected things had happened (getting a great seat next to the stage and meeting someone from her team) and I knew nothing could beat that for the rest of my journey. Well, then when I sat in my new seat I just saw all the cameras and technicians and that crane camera in front of me, and I realised the box of surprises wasn't closed yet, since all the show would be filmed and right before my nose. I was so close that I could even get the Wi-Fi network of CDA productions and AEG team, and could see next to me all her security people on the rear of the stage, those who take her to the central stage during Love Of My Life, and that are with her when she leaves the hotel in Paris.

 

On Sunday show I was in block B3, row A, so again I had another aisle in front of me so camera operators were coming and going all the show and filmed again. The crane camera was on the left of the stage this show, but not on the stage, but down the aisle and between the public. I guess they wanted to have different takes and angles of the show. I danced like crazy that day lol. At first is a bit distracting all the camera thing, but then you get used to them and forget they are there. I saw Denise Truscello coming through the aisle a couple of times also. I also met Pepe again before the show, and this time he was joined by Matthew (that handsome bearded guy who I still don't know what he does ). He kindly agreed for more pictures and was very funny about the different Spanish accents from Málaga, Andalusia and my home town, which has no accent at all because it's neutral Spanish

 

For Love Of My Life I could leave my seat and go where Céline sings, since it was really close to my block and I was free to walk having the aisle in front of me (I couldn't on Saturday because staff had closed all the exits on my row with the fences, to prevent people from running and leaving their seats in chaos when Céline did the final song), so then again I saw her as close as it can be . When she looks at you, you can melt and forget about everything, you know that!

Oh and Dave Platel was there, sitting on a box, right before me. I greeted him before Céline started the song, and he was kind of surprised lol. I think he's the new manager in charge, or at least for the touring part of her career, because he has been joining Céline for this tour almost on every show.

 

In a nutshell, I still pinch myself for all things lived during this second row of shows in London, I didn't have planned anything literally 24 hours before the Saturday show nor I expected anything to happen, and I attended two more shows full of surprises in the most unexpected way.

 

Thanks again Gustav for your kind heart and big spirit of unity between the fans, and thanks Pepe for your kind attention. And of course, thanks this forum for existing, after so many years, because again, it gave me another incredible surprise that without this forum it would have never happened (that "For Keeps" signed book giveaway in 2005 again!) :flowers:

For Love Of My Life I could leave my seat and go where Céline sings, since it was really close to my block and I was free to walk having the aisle in front of me (I couldn't on Saturday because staff had closed all the exits on my row with the fences, to prevent people from running and leaving their seats in chaos when Céline did the final song), so then again I saw her as close as it can be . When she looks at you, you can melt and forget about everything, you know that!

Oh and Dave Platel was there, sitting on a box, right before me. I greeted him before Céline started the song, and he was kind of surprised lol. I think he's the new manager in charge, or at least for the touring part of her career, because he has been joining Céline for this tour almost on every show.

 

In a nutshell, I still pinch myself for all things lived during this second row of shows in London, I didn't have planned anything literally 24 hours before the Saturday show nor I expected anything to happen, and I attended two more shows full of surprises in the most unexpected way.

 

Thanks again Gustav for your kind heart and big spirit of unity between the fans, and thanks Pepe for your kind attention. And of course, thanks this forum for existing, after so many years, because again, it gave me another incredible surprise that without this forum it would have never happened (that "For Keeps" signed book giveaway in 2005 again!) :flowers:
