Sazeliza Posted July 31, 2017 at 10:54 AM Posted July 31, 2017 at 10:54 AM (edited) Ok so I finally got back home after spending five wonderful days in Birmingham with my best friend. I didn't expect the city to have such an amazing vibe! It has a friendly ambience that I just love. What can I tell you about the show? It was my third Celine Dion concert but the first time that they showed my picture on the big screens while waiting for showtime We had amazing seats, even better than I had expected. We were on the very center and even closer to the stage than some VIPs. About ten minutes before Véronic started, a lady and her two daughters came to their seats just next to us and told us how excited they were since this was their first time seeing Celine live. They asked me if she'd have an opening act and when I told them about Véronic they didn't look too impressed, but their reaction was totally different two minutes after she appeared onstage. And then Celine came in... Her entrance was just magical. When she did the first 'Cause I'm your lady! and all the lights came in, it totally felt as if we were taken back to the Falling Into You Tour. After I Drove All Night she said that Birmingham is very special to her because she did her very first UK TV show there, and she promised not to make us wait for another nine years to see her back in there (I don't know if we should believe that but whatever, lol). She brought a new colour to many songs by hitting really unexpected notes at the most unexpected parts. Refuse To Dance was a vocal highlight to me and people went crazy during Le Ballet. By the way, I cried during Love Of My Life (I mean during the whole song), it was an extremely emotional performance. The bring it back, bring it back part was what made me break down to tears. It was hard not to see her asking René to come back at that part. My only two complains: 1. No posters at the merchandise stores. (Although I bought the tourbook and the two mugs) 2. They shouldn't sell alcohol at her shows. Some people near su went quite crazy (they got close to a fight) and security had to come in. Overall, it was the best night of the year to me. Looking forward to see her next time! What an amazing post! And that's exactly what I felt when I went to Birmingham! Edited July 31, 2017 at 10:55 AM by Sazeliza 1 Quote

Sazeliza Posted July 31, 2017 at 11:18 AM Posted July 31, 2017 at 11:18 AM It is gorgeous but I don't like what she did to the crotch. It's got a triangular piece missing and to me it just looks bad. I can see it clearly in a few videos on Instagram - I see what you mean! I agree. 1 Quote
jdlyden1 Posted July 31, 2017 at 11:18 AM Posted July 31, 2017 at 11:18 AM I've booked three shows for this tour - 27th July in Birmingham, 30th July in London (I won those tickets) and finally 3rd August in Birmingham. It's been so great to move around to have different views each night - I was stage right in Birmingham, stage left in London and Row A Centre in Birmingham. This tour is so special - it's worth saying that last night in London, The O2 was displaying a sign saying the show was being recorded for TV/DVD. I asked a member of staff from The O2 about this, because I know Celine has been known to record shows for her own archives, but he seemed to believe this is DEFINITELY going to be released at some point in the future, as they only have to display the signs about TV/DVD recordings when the audience could be included or shown on a TV/DVD release where their face could be shown - they do not display the sign when recording for archival purposes! To compare the two shows so far - the Birmingham show had a MUCH louder crowd than London (Veronic got a standing ovation from the crowd) but Celine was much stronger vocally last night! Bring on my third and final show in Birmingham - anyone going? 7 Quote 08/05/2008 - London - 'Taking Chances World Tour' | 24/07/2011 - Las Vegas - 'Celine' | 27/07/17 - Birmingham - 'Live 2017' | 30/07/17 - London - 'Live 2017' | 03/08/2017 - Birmingham - 'Live 2017'

celine4evauk Posted July 31, 2017 at 11:35 AM Posted July 31, 2017 at 11:35 AM I'm the other way around. My last show was in second row and it will be hard to go further away from the stage again I won't be able to afford to get tickets by the stage all the time but I thought it was the most awesome experience to be that close. BUT I do get what you mean. It's a different experience to sit further away and high up and I did enjoy it much to my surprise. I guess I rather want to see Céline really close than see how the show is (band, lightning.. etc) Me too, I loved it the beginning of those those songs and the crowd gets crazy!! Only thing that bothered me with the crowd was when people sitting further back were sneaking in to the rows between the first and second row because the first row was standing up by the fence so there was space behind them. That was annoying. lol I understand what you mean and why. I've been in front row, 3rd row, 4th row, 11th row, first tier and highest tier. And honestly I'd rather have a brilliant view of the whole stage and see the show in its entirety. Although if I could afford seats as near to the front on another date of course I would! But the prices now are ridiculous (imo), and I shan't pay it. Not criticising anyone who does- each to their own lol but me, I can't justify it. And another reason is im only 4ft 11" so if I'm on the floor all it takes is someone of average height and I can't see a bloody thing 😂😢 Quote

Celine Fan 77 Posted July 31, 2017 at 11:38 AM Posted July 31, 2017 at 11:38 AM (edited) I don't think they had posters in Paris either but outside there were peoples selling nice posters. And I agree, I don't think they should sell alcohol at the shows. I didn't notice it in Paris much though. If people were drinking, they knew how to handle it That's nice. I mean, if drinking makes you feel more relaxed, less shy and enjoy the show in a different way, then it's wonderful. But that was not the case with those people. It was a really tense moment. I actually don't remember during which song the fight almost took place, I think it was during the musical interlude prior to Refuse To Dance... I'm spending most of my time in Birmingham!!! I'm sorry I missed you!! Oh shame! Hopefully next time. By the way! My friend and I went to the Nightingale Club on Thursday night, right after the show, and it was incredible, they even played River Deep Mountain High! You guys should have seen me recreating the A New Day... performance Edited July 31, 2017 at 11:40 AM by Celine Fan 77 1 Quote Tournée Européenne in Paris (December 1, 2013)Céline Dion Live 2016 in Antwerp (June 20, 2016)Céline Dion Live 2017 in Birmingham (July 27, 2017)

Sazeliza Posted July 31, 2017 at 12:10 PM Posted July 31, 2017 at 12:10 PM I may well be wrong, but I don't think it's going to be another 9 years before she does shows in the UK. The way she goes about her career is different now compared to, say, 2009-2016. She's putting herself out there more, at the moment at least. But who knows. 1 Quote

Partly doing it for Rene, I'm sure, part partly for herself - being busy probably keeps her from brooding. Paris definitely does her psyche well. And this summer mini-tour schedule, too. It lets her be a mom when the kids are in school, but take them out for a summer vacation. It's sustainable. I think she likes that much better than going on a world tour for a year+, living out of suitcases and moving hotels all the time. But I do think she might do Asia next summer. She has a huge following there and probably still feels like she owes them after that tour cancellation in 2014 (understandably). 1 Quote
