First show of three tonight! My first time in the mezzanine too. I'll be recording full audio of all three nights and try to get as much video as I can.

I don't know all I know is he told me that the person he spoke to(and whom he knows quite well and is in vegas quite often and has seen the show alot) said he found out last night at the show that they will film the final four nights. Not just the one night. Besides that I don't know anything else myself how he found that out. All I was doing is passing on the info he told me.

Especially since we already have 'Live in Tokyo'

 

I hope they will surprise us with footage from 2011/2015.

But with them it's 1 step forward, 3 steps back.

 

 

 

I hope so.

It would be a huge disappointment if they released a concert special without gems like the jazz medley, or Bond medley, or Over the Rainbow, Immortality walk-through-crowd bit, etc.

We already have 'Live in Tokyo' so there was absolutely no need to officially film these last shows.

 

And yes too a documentary throughout the years but with this team I doubt that will happen.

If they can ignore the 2016 tour, they can definitely ignore the last 16 of Vegas :giggle:

Btw and this isn't directed at you Xpresso but why is everyone being such debby downers. We wanted the show to be filmed yes it's not the best version of the show but atleast we're getting something. Isn't it better then nothing? Who knows what they may end up doing. Maybe they will do kinda like the best of type of dvd with footage from the different years. No one knows yet. I'll be there tonight I'll see what I can find out but no promises at this point.

 

I feel people seem to forget that many shows have been filmed including opening night for the Oprah special so additional footage is available from diff years. Maybe they will use this filming and filming from through the years and make a big dvd or doc style dvd and maybe use footage from this filming when they pan to the audience since the audience is aware of the filming unlike other times

Agree.

 

Especially as the current setlist is mostly what we could get for a tour, in a good way, but the previous versions of the Céline show had more a Vegas feeling, i.e. something you may not see in other settings (curtain drop, Bond medley, the duet with herself, the Jazz section, Immortality through the crowd, and the absolute gem of Over the rainbow as fine :wub: )

 

Let's see.

Hopefully they will release a dvd sampling elements from the three versions (including from the current one the string quarter) of this residence. ^_^

I don't particularly care what they film. I'll take a Netfilx or any filmed special with her any day. I'm not that choosy. I say bring it on! I'll have my popcorn and such on hand and will relish it!

I honestly don’t know at this point but whether we like it or not they chose to film it for one reason or another. I honestly believe she wanted this filmed because it was her final musical project with Rene so it’s special to her. Tbh I feel like she’s damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. Also tbh except for die hards I doubt most people have seen the live in Tokyo show. And again we still don’t know what they will do with the footage and whether they have additional footage without us having knowledge of it from earlier shows. As I’ve noted professionally I’m certain they have opening night because Oprah’s team filmed the first two nights from what I remember and we’ve seen various footage from her first night back after Rene’s death so it wouldn’t surprise me if they have more footage then we have knowledge of. Kinda how with TTEOW included footage from many stops despite the fact we didn’t at the time know they were filming each and every night.

I remember back in A New Day, they filmed it for 5 shows (January 17-21 2007). So, if they shot this 2nd residency show (4 shows)..Then, it's ok. There's a lot of shots to choose for the final edit. I hope they film it like A New Day. with dramatic shots/great cinematography :)

i got 93%. the only 2 i got wrong were the drag queen who did her on rupaul (i had no idea who as i dont watch it) and who the writer of celine the song was friends with haha.

So glad Vegas finally ends. Hope she won't go back for a residency there in a loooong while.

 

And I am NOT the least interested in a DVD of the way the show looks now. Back when she had Open Arms, How Do You Keep The Music Playing and Ne Me Quittes Pas (all waaay better in their live version than their studio tracks) in the show, now that would had been great to have a DVD of.

Sorry if you find it funny but I tried to think of it how Celine may have viewed it and honestly I feel that might be why she did it. Let's be honest she had plenty of other mini tours to release she hasn't done it so why release this and of course the final shows which as even I`ve admitted are not as great as the original show. This was the best thing I could come up with at this point as to how her mind may be working at this moment. And sorry what do you mean by we have no proof they were filming. I've spoken to 3 people who went to last night's show who confirmed they did film and that there were signs outside the entrance indicating that. As for prior shows I'm saying they obvs filmed because the footage we've seen through the years whether it be promotional purposes or for tv specials such as 3 boys and a show was from the overall show. There is no way they just filmed one song. Think Rene's return we got the two songs on the live stream fine but then why did we end up seeing footage from ABM from the same night later on. I strongly believe they filmed that show. I also don`t have any memory of us having prior knowledge of them informing us other stops of the TC tour being filmed and yet we got footage from several stops in TTEOW despite the main concerts being filmed in Montreal and Boston.

 

Tbh I wanted to share some good news and I`m honestly annoyed at some people here (not you personally) but I feel like no one is ever satisfied. She doesn`t film we complain she films oh why did she film this night. Like honestly I`ve reached a point where I am like how can this woman win. Don`t misunderstand me I get people are allowed to have opinions but I seriously was not expecting so many people to be so negative. I thought it would be like - oh while I don`t love this version atleast we are getting something after so many years. And some people need to relax we don`t even know yet how it will be used. Can we atleast give her the benefit of the doubt for now. I know her team hasn`t been perfect but come on. I apologize for the rant I do respect everyone here but I was so excited this morning thinking other fans would be too but honestly I can`t believe some of us. Anyways I will be heading to the show tonight I will see what I can learn. I`ll let you guys know later tonight. Who knows for those who are upset maybe you`ll get your wish and this will be shelved much like the 2017 mini tour.

 

I do apologize mirage if I came off harshly I am just a bit annoyed right now that`s all please forgive me for going on a rant it wasn`t intentionally directed to you. Just something I needed to get off my chest,

100% agree. I went to the show 2 weeks ago. When people ask me how it was, I simply say “Meh, it was stale. It was so obvious she didn’t want to be there. Great venue though!! “👍

 

I’d never heard PQTME in person though, so that was really special for me (even with all the ad libs) ☺️

I agree. The setlists seem to be the best ones and the beginning of runs and they record the concerts at the end of the runs..😯

 

It seems to be our typical luck when it comes to her teams decisions.

 

Well that's a bummer. They waited until the show got diluted to the worst possible set list to film it?!

Surprised, IMO it was one of the worst along with the prince medley. Immortality, SOTR and, whilst she had them, the virtual duets were my favs lol

 

Well, to each his / her own, I guess!

Mr Paganini was by far the best thing about this show, as far as I'm concerned. (I loooove jazz, and instrumental jazz / fusion in particular, vocal not so much - that's why it's so wild to me that there's actually a studio version of that song that she recorded with fusion god / legend Herbie Hancock that's unreleased, and one that will probably be locked up in Sony vaults forever.... :angry2: )

 

And now that people mention it - Ne Me Quitte Pas. That was during my "Celine hiatus" - the 15 years or so between 2000-2015 that I was out of the loop as far as Celine was concerned - so I missed the NMQP period. But I would pay big money to hear her do that song live.

 

It's a shame, too, that so many of the best moments were before the phone video omnipresence. All the recent shows are all over YouTube and Instagram, but the ones from several years ago, when phone videos were more rare and they were more adamant at policing it, are relatively hard to find online. There are so few good videos of the Bond Medley, and NMQP, etc. It's a real shame. It seems to me the show was at its height back then, and we have so little saved for posterity.

The show was absolutely beautiful during the original 2011 runs. I couldn’t get enough of it and her voice was better than it had been in a long time. I really hope we see the original show on dvd. I really hope she takes care of her voice between now and the tour.
