maki_Dion-er Posted June 1, 2019 at 05:32 PM Posted June 1, 2019 at 05:32 PM And perhaps I’m reading too much into this, but her “ciao for now, Las Vegas” has me thinking there will be a return. It is, after all, her home now. She did an interview for a Cesaers magazine, an Instagram fan account posted images of the article. In it she was asked if she'd come back to do another residency, she said it was too soon to be thinking of another one, that she was starting a new chapter, but that she didn't discard the idea of coming back. If she comes back I hope it's several years down the line, and for a much smaller number of shows so she has more freedom to do other things. 3 Quote
MLowery855 Posted June 1, 2019 at 05:36 PM Posted June 1, 2019 at 05:36 PM I don’t think this residency was too many shows.. but I agree she could shrink it some more. It’s probably my proximity and my ability to travel to Vegas, but knowing I could see her almost whenever I would like was nice for all these years. Seeing her in the venue built for her was something special. I’ll be seeing her in Louisville, Jacksonville, and Atlanta late this year and early next. Past that.. who knows? It was not too many shows per year, but it WAS too many years of a contract in general. I know it’s way too much for them to do it but I think it would be nice they ended the last show with the original set list from the opening show and bring back all the wardrobe from that show again. It would be something to end the show how it began and how she and Rene first envisioned it. 3 Quote

Holborn Posted June 1, 2019 at 08:52 PM Posted June 1, 2019 at 08:52 PM (edited) https://www.journald...-pour-las-vegas Lovely article.. Here is the google translation for those who want to read it. Celine Dion: a heavy loss for Las Vegas Las Vegas will miss Celine Dion. Although in recent years, large sizes converge at high speed, the city of vice apprehend the loss of what she considers her queen for 16 years now. The departure of Charlemagne's star will hit the Strip - first and foremost - from an economic point of view. A glance at the statistics of the two shows in residence that she offered at the Colosseum of Caesars Palace (A New Day from 2003 to 2007, and Celine from 2011 to 2019) is enough to understand how her absence will be felt at the counters. According to figures provided by Billboard and AEG Live, the promoter of Céline Dion's concerts, when she will end next Saturday, her 1,141 performances will have attracted more than 4,500,000 people and raised revenues of $ 875 million CAN. Not bad for a bet that everyone described as crazy when the construction of the Colosseum (at a cost of $ 145 million) began in 2001, under the impetus of René Angélil. According to the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, Celine Dion stands out from the crowd because of the number of foreign tourists she brings to the United States. "Celine is one of the biggest stars - if not the biggest star - in the world," says Cara Clarke, the organization's vice president of communications. It's an international icon that attracts people from all over. When we go to Céline's show, it's an incredible experience because we hear all kinds of languages. She is one of the few artists who transcend nationality. It's very, very special for Las Vegas. " A new model The city of Las Vegas knew it was about to lose an outstanding ambassador when Celine Dion announced last September that she would complete her residency in June 2019. Although it has been repeated many times over the last 10 years, it still deserves to be underlined again: the Quebec diva changed the face of Las Vegas by settling in 2003 while she dominated the pop charts. "Celine has revolutionized our entertainment industry," said John Nelson, senior vice president of AEG Live Las Vegas in an interview with the Journal. Before her, Las Vegas was seen as a place where artists at the end of their career would fall. She alone has changed the model. She has paved the way for so many artists ... " Nobody like her The influence of Celine Dion was felt as early as 2004, when Elton John followed in her footsteps by offering his Red Piano at the Colosseum when she took a break. Followed by Cher, Bette Midler, Rod Stewart, Shania Twain and Mariah Carey. Seeing how this formula smiled at Caesars Palace, other major institutions have replicated the model, recruiting figures like Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and more recently Lady Gaga. "They're great attractions for Las Vegas, but they're not like Celine," says Nelson. None of them engage as Celine. Initially, she gave 200 performances a year! Nobody does that today. It's 60 gigs at most. " "If Las Vegas has become a destination of choice for artists, it's thanks to Céline," adds Cara Clarke. She created this dynamic. It shows the success she's getting. The hottest stars of the hour present shows in residence now. It seems that even Katy Perry considers her options ... " Like the Grand Canyon For Norm Clarke, columnist behind the Las Vegas Review-Journal's Vegas Confidential column from 1999 to 2016, Celine Dion will leave "a comparable Grand Canyon vacuum" when she closes the books and packs her bags. The journalist sadly recalls the state in which his city was before her arrival in 2003. "The attacks of September 11, 2001 had hit Las Vegas a lot. The economy had been hit hard. People were worried. Celine could not have come at a better time. " "She raised the city during the recession," says Clarke. She has attracted crowds like no one else since Elvis and Frank Sinatra. Her popularity goes well beyond the borders of the United States. " A SALIENT SOCIAL COMMITMENT The Strip will miss Celine Dion, but not just because of numbers. Through the interviews conducted to make this case, several speakers stressed how much her social commitment would be lacking in Las Vegas, including the Chamber of Commerce. "There is something very special about Celine," says Cara Clarke. She is part of our community. She lives in Las Vegas. Her children grew up here. She is not always in the spotlight. But Las Vegas is her home. It occupies a very special place in our heart. She was very generous to Las Vegas. She has supported several charities, including Opportunity Village, which helps people with physical and mental disabilities. She gave concerts of which all the profits were paid to these organizations. She has her heart on her hand. It's a legend. " Give to the next No need to dig deep to find examples of concrete actions that Celine Dion has put to support a cause. In October 2017, returning on stage a few days after the appalling shooting of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino after 58 people were killed and 851 were injured, the singer announced that she would hand over all the proceeds from the concert. to the families of the victims. Two years earlier, in 2015, she interrupted her sabbatical to sing along with Andrea Bocelli at the MGM Grand Garden Arena at a concert to fund research against cancer. These actions did not go unnoticed. In a message sent to the Journal by email, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyne G. Goodman salutes the way the artist has been involved in various charitable causes over time. "She became a full member of our community. Through her charitable acts, she has given a lot to our citizens. Celine will always be at home in Las Vegas. " AND AFTER ? If Celine Dion ends the Las Vegas chapter by completing her second show in residence at the Caesars Palace Colosseum on Saturday, June 8, what will be the sequel to the 51-year-old artist? Although we already know the contents of the next pages, all the options remain possible. The agenda of My Heart interpreter Will Go On is filled until May 2020 ... at least. Indeed, on September 19, after spending the summer in Montreal, she will give - in Quebec City - the kickoff of the Courage World Tour, an ambitious world tour that will accompany the release of an album of the same name in English. For now, only the North American portion of the adventure has been unveiled. But, since we're talking about a world tour, let's bet that, along the way, concerts on European, Asian, African, and perhaps even South American soil, a continent that she has not visited often since her debut, will add to the lot and stretch this adventure until 2021. "As an observer, I can say with certainty that her life is music," said John Nelson, senior vice president of AEG Live Las Vegas. I hope she will continue to give performances, release records and record new songs. As long as she wants, she can do it. " London and New York Celine Dion could present other shows in residence, but far from Las Vegas. This is the option that seems to privilege the journalist and animator Mike Gauthier, who follows the career of the artist for three decades. "Rene [Angélil] had already told me about it. He told me: "It could be that we move to cities and we give several shows in the same place." In Europe, Celine could settle at the O2 Arena in London for several nights because it still attracts a lot of people. People are moving to see her show. It's fascinating. They did not wait for her to come to their corner. " "In New York, she could do like Billy Joel and move to Madison Square Garden for a while. In this way, it would not have to cover the entire east coast of the United States. " Back to Vegas? And after Las Vegas, if it was ... Las Vegas? Indeed, many predict a possible return of Celine Dion to Caesars Palace. It would be far from a first. Four years after finishing her first show in residence in 2007, the singer lifted the veil on Celine, her second concert of its kind. Former columnist for the Las Vegas Review Journal, Norm Clarke is among those who believe - and hope - that Celine Dion will find the Strip after her Courage World Tour. "I do not think she's done with Las Vegas," says the journalist. I think she just needs a break. She begins a new chapter. It's good to see that she has recovered so well after such a long time. " If Celine Dion ends the Las Vegas chapter by completing her second show in residence at the Caesars Palace Colosseum on Saturday, June 8, what will be the sequel to the 51-year-old artist? Although we already know the contents of the next pages, all the options remain possible. The agenda of the My Heart Will Go On interpreter is filled until May 2020 ... at least. The fashion If many questions remain unanswered about the road ahead of Celine Dion, one can say with fairly insurance, it will continue to make headlines with blows of extravagant looks, courtesy of designers increasingly bold it recruits. Always on the fashion side, it can also be expected that she will develop her lifestyle product line, created in 2016 with Epic Rights and Prominent Brand + Talent, which includes among others a range of handbags. We also hope that she will deploy other non-child clothing collections under the name Celinununu that she launched last fall. At the movie theater Another certainty: the name of Celine Dion will be associated with the cinema in the years to come. Indeed, two biopics projects are currently under construction, including Famous, a comedy actress and French director Valérie Lemercier, who will star in the role Sylvain Marcel René Angélil. Quebec filmmaker Marc-André Lavoie (Hot Dog) is also preparing a feature film that will revolve around the childhood of Charlemagne's star. Could these film projects push the main interested party to (finally) take the plunge and accept a role on the big screen? Not likely, most observers answer. Starting an actress career after 50 years is not commonplace. But if we have to remember one thing from Celine Dion's last years, it's that everything is possible. Because after all, she's the boss. ON THE TRACKS OF CÉLINEThe departure of Celine Dion may mark "the end of an era", her legacy is not close to fade. Here are some of the artists who present a show in residence in Las Vegas this year. Janet Jackson, Aerosmith, Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, Drake, Gwen Stefani, Bruno Mars, Billy Idol, Cardi B, Lady Antebellum, Rod Stewart, Backstreet Boys, Boyz II Men, Cher.
