Never thought I'd say this but I hope we wont get a DVD of this Vegas run. The Tokio concert fine but.... So sad we didn't get one from the early start: OA, NMQP and HDYKTMP were miles better live than the studio versions...

but I would rather have the current vegas show on dvd than nothing! The last english dvd was 10 years ago, we need a new one!

Hopefully we'll get a new tour and maybe that has a better setlist and then we could get a DVD from that instead. Or release the Tokyo show - then at least we'd get The Reason and Think Twice! It's a scandal that we this far in her career still haven't got a professional live release of Think Twice!

You're the Voice is such an odd song to add to the show. I cannot comprehend why she kept it outside of Australia.

 

 

Agreed, it's an odd choice in that it's not that well known in the US. But, it is a timely song, from a lyrical standpoint, and it makes for a good audience sing-along, even if it's the first time you hear it.

 

That being said, I'd be more than happy if she nixed it and brought back Mr Paganini.

We all have a download from Tokyo so we won't need a DVD from Vegas.

 

The only Vegas I want on DVD is openingnight 2011 and 2015.

Best set lists ever, and best use of the orchestra.

 

Furthermore I'm glad she is back and we see her more often now.

 

I don't like the last years of Vegas, and choice of setlist now, but it is what it is.

 

Happy to see she is alive and having fun! :wub:

Thank you!! I don’t even bothered to check up Shania or Britney’s tours because I know how hard he always tries to excuse Celine, but I know there’s no point in comparing them with a show that has lasted 9 years and with 430 shows done Celine has had countless times to do changes and sing the phonebook if she wanted but...

I mean Mariah hasnt changed ONE COMMA of her set list since her Angels advocate tour in 2009. Her tours since 2015 have literally been the exact same as her vegas show. Even her “new vegas show” has only 2 new songs in comparison to her old one.

 

Her Asian tour was also a joke, she copied her ENTIRE TBR set list and added only “With you”. At least celine added stuff like FIY,TLYM,Unison (albeit in a medley),CHFIL etc. So Mariah doesnt really do much better, if not worse

 

Shania has maybe added 2-3 songs from the album from her tour, the rest is 85% vegas.

 

Chers added 3 abba songs and thats it, same as vegas also.

 

And Madonna i dont really care

 

 

 

Difference with all of them is theyve JUST released new albums. Celine hasnt. It doesnt however excuse her lack of creativity set wise

Don't leave the forum, we need positivism, just avoid the comments of people that don't have a clue of what a residency is. Moaners will always moan no matter what, some are just insatiable by nature. She looked and sounded amazing, that's what matters :)

 

Mariah Carey just finished her Christmas tour with exactly the same setlist as last year, even same order, Shania Twain is touring the world with exactly the same setlist as her residency. I could go on with Britney, Cher, ... but there's no point, reasonable people know this already.

 

And again, she looked and sounded amazing last night!

 

And I wouldn't know that since I'm not following every step of them.

I do think the set list is boring, and there were a time when I felt disappointed that she stay at Vegas that leave me a small chance to see her show.

But first, I don't have any plan to see her at Vegas, second, she already came to my country so I could see her show, and last, this show is going to end in few months, so, I don't think I have a reason to moan about it anymore.

It's lil bit too much if I still moaning about the show that I watch on youtube oflr facebook live, it more make sense if I'm going to Vegas by myself and feel disappointed because I spent a lot of money to see the show.

Celine has 26, however if we’re being realistic, she cant start doing a 50% french show in Vegas when they already get bored and go to the toilet/ get drinks during PQTME.

 

 

In english Celine only has 10 albums (11 counting TAST in the holiday season), however as mentioned, it doesn’t excuse her lack of song addition

 

 

 

However i do remember reading here a while back deep in the forum that Celine is supposedly contractually abliged to sing a certain amount of songs and has to perform all her “big hits” eg : TPOL,IACBTMN,MHWGO,BYLM,ABM

 

Ive also noticed how whenever a vegas show goes over the 1 hour 30 mark (eg when she does new set lists) its changed and many “unnecessary songs” are dropped. Probably why we never got FIY.TR or TT when Celine returned

Reading this forum is so funny. It's the clear example that Celine cannot possibly please everyone. Some want change but then when she does change something her choice is questioned. Celine live 2018 was said to be Vegas on tour but now that it's in Vegas it's the "tour in Vegas". You don't want a DVD of this residency but I'm 100% sure that if she doesn't release one those same fans will complain and say she should have released one even if it was the later version of the show. She talks too little, oh no now she's talking too much.

 

To be honest if I went to her show one day and then she makes big changes to it the very next day I would be furious and insanely jealous lol (that's why any changes made should come after Jan or no big changes at all imo). Not to mention it has already changed a bunch since the spring run. It's why she keeps the show the same for so long, she knows every audience is different, save for a few that have gone to see her more than once. We're the ones that know everything she says and does by heart because we literally watch her videos daily ("every move you make, every breath you take, I'll be watch you" lol). We have to keep in mind that the residency is mostly for general fans, not the hardcore fans that follow her every step online.

 

I'm happy to see her back, I missed watching her. And I can't wait to see her in March for the very first time.

Yeah, I think Ceasars is pretty strict on time. This new setlist was running at close to 2 hours during tour. Without FIY, TR, and TT it was at around 1 hour 40 min I think, and now she has cut out recovering. I don't understand why she can't do a longer show.

Yes I have partially complained about the Asian show setlist being the current Vegas show setlist but tbh after seeing the show 3 times now(2011,2016,2017) and will be seeing it one final time in June I have to say in real life the videos don't do justice to the show. It is a great show and if she does keep this version till the end with no changes then that's fine i'm sure I'll still enjoy myself regardless but if I could make a few changes atleast I would.

The casinos don’t want the public away from the gambling, restaurants and shops where they are spending way more money. They set 90 minutes as a maximum for money reasons.

 

Imagine the over 4,000 people exiting the colosseum each night after the show, very good chance that half of them stay at Caesars and either gamble, eat or shop and that’s why they pay Celine the big bucks! Is all about money in that city.

theperezhilton @CelineDion is the gold standard of Las Vegas! It's a guaranteed win every time! This woman IS music! She makes you feel the songs like no one else! You feel like you're inside of her throat and her heart! She never gives less than 110%! She leaves it all on that stage! And, she keeps changing it all up! New costumes! New songs! New production elements! You don’t get the same show twice! That makes me think the only reason she's ending her residency in June is she really needs an extended break and/or wants to come back for a lot more money or at a different venue. What was especially great this time is that Celine has gotten wonderfully weirder and much more sexual as the years have gone by!

 

Hopefully, it's to do lots of new things as she has alluded to having lots of opportunities. Everything else he said is great and makes me proud to be a Celine fan.

It's true but Celine should sing less covers and more "rare" songs from her repertoire like With This Tear, Just Walk Away, I Want You To Need Me, etc. ;)

True... but.

You don’t want to go & see Cher & see her sing covers of dead artists that’s she’s had in her shows for the past few years on & off do you?

 

Just like people going to see Celine for the first time don’t want to hear her cover Prince or Freddy Mercury like she’s being doing for ages.

If she don’t want to add more of her own rare songs ( which is f****** crazy, as she has loads of great songs ) for people who want to go and see Celine, then atleast update the the tribute section to be more recent or better again cover songs that are big now from people she loves who are still breathing.

 

Either way roll on June, this chapter can’t come to a close quick enough the way things are going !!!

I love her, but at the same time she needs to raise the bar like she did on the 2017 tour in terms of setlist and evolving.

 

If she was in a normal job, she’d be on her final warning if I was the boss.

Times like now in her careeer that I miss Rene... she needs a manager.

 

Just my 10 cents :)
