Once again, peaceful people were killed during a concert....that is cowardly and disgusting.

I just heard about the Vegas shooting. I hope you all in Vegas are safe and unharmed. This is terrible, and I hope none of us are affected by this. My heart truly breaks for those involved.

This is terrifying.

 

And the thing about Vegas is it's ripe for something like this... Overflowing with people, and it always struck me as surprising how little security there seems to be at all those casinos. Nothing to stop a wacko from rolling a suitcase full of weapons into any of those hotels.

Glad to have you all as a community in times like this. We all have a special connection to Vegas. This is sad.

 

Sending positive vibes to everyone impacted. That shooter was a coward & I hope this FINALLY changes gun laws.

I feel like she's doing the right thing by going on with the show. And God bless her for doing so...but it's going to be a VERY emotional night. :cry: I think we can all agree that concerts are a way to escape our everyday lives - to just let loose and have some fun. It's supposed to be where you forget your problems for a couple of hours...not worry about the safety of your life.

 

I have had the news on all day today, but now that my boys are home from school I've turned it off. It was getting to be too much anyhow. I just can't wrap my brain around this. I was just there last night...the shooting happened a few hours after I got home. I had the MOST amazing weekend and my husband and I were talking about how great of a getaway Vegas is for us. Now all of this heartbreak and devastation. My heart is so heavy. Praying for all those who were involved.

I am at a loss of words. I was in that same spot not even a week ago and couldn't contain myself when I heard the news. I can't help but remember how Celine talked about Vegas in the opening speech. "It's a place where people dream again"

 

Those words have so much meaning now...

The show should go on. It gives monsters like that shooter less power. Celine is very strong and we are lucky to be her fans. She is a symbol on the strip now so I'm sure many are looking to her for comfort in this time.

 

I'm sure she will pay tribute to those who lost their lives.

For those who say it shows strength that it gives the terrorist, yes he was a terrorist, less power, does it really? Maybe I'm just emotional and in shock right now but I don't think it shows them anything. Just more targets. Just so senseless............

Celine absolutely should carry on with the show. Let's all pray for all of the victims and their families. This was such as senseless act of gate and terror. Celine is more than just a headliner in Vegas, she's A LOCAL. The People are looking to her for strength. This just isn't a tour that's passing through and it's better to cancel, this is her community and home she needs to carry on in my opinion.

You're in the minority on this one, I'm afraid. You can't let them win. You have to go on living. If you continue to wallow in fear, the terrorists win. Yes, the goal is to kill people but if they can have collateral damage in the form of people too fearful to go out and continue to live life...that's what they're counting on. We can't let that happen. Celine is smart. I'm sure she consulted with her security and Caesars/The Colosseum to make adjustments as needed. #TheShowMustGoOn

I can honestly understand both sides of the coin. Ultimately I just hope they let it be Celine's decision, which I'm assuming it will be. Her heart needs to do what it feels is right. For me...all I've wanted to do is hug my boys from the second they've gotten home from school. It's a personal and emotional decision for her I'm sure. If she's ready tomorrow then good...if she needs a few days off to process and be with her family...I'm good with that too. This can't be any easy decision for a mega superstar like Celine to have to make. That's for sure. She knows so many depend on her for strength. That's a lot of weight on any one persons shoulders. If the pit in my stomach today is this deep, I can't even imagine what she's feeling.

Could someone type out or at least sumarize this so that the dumb blind people on here who clearly do not even deserve to get to see her can know what she says? and by the way, don't know your name but sooooooooo glad you had fun. I kept thinking with every show, I hope Celine keeps think twice in because this fan on the forum reeeeeally wants to hear it live. So happy you got that experience!

Iwill type it for you...but please stop calling yourself a dumb blind person. It breaks my heart every time I hear you say that.

 

You know there was a young woman at Celine's shows both nights I was there this weekend. She was wheelchair bound. Paralyzed and missing a leg even. On Saturday night I had tears in my eyes as I witnessed two of Celine's ushers/bodyguards literally lift her up and carry her to the front of the stage during the mosh pit. They held her there so that she could experience and fulfill a dream she would have otherwise thought impossible. These two men literally had sweat dripping from their foreheads because she was becoming heavy, but they weren't letting up. I gave these men a thumbs up and wanted to find them after the show to thank them for restoring my faith in humanity. I wanted them to understand how touched I was by what they did, but unfortunately couldn't find them afterwards.

 

All fans are deserving of Celine...I don't care what your handicap or disability is. And Celine of course loved on her with kisses and high fives. It was a beautiful thing to witness.

If she wants to do the show, she should. If she doesn't, she shouldn't. It's a personal decision. This is a difficult time right now in this city. Everyone knows someone harmed in this tragic event. People are sad and overwhelmed, but grateful for the survivors, the work of law enforcement, and the outpouring of support.

 

Vegas is an incredibly secure city. A few posts ago someone said they hardly could see security. Details of that stuff online isn't good. But, generally, I will say Vegas is an insanely incredibly secure city. Some things people can see from just photos that anyone can take (like the streets have barricades (and have for over a year)) and many other measures some of which can be seen and others not--but they are there. Security is everywhere.

 

The first responders did a tremendous job today. We are all so grateful. Beyond grateful. They not only got to the monster's room quickly, the entire strip--that's right, every floor of every hotel--was cleared incredibly fast (the exact time of which I wouldn't even post online because I think the news posts too much details as it is). The coordinated response of local and federal task forces was overwhelming. And just thank you. If any of you have family in law enforcement--thank you for their service.

 

Despite the incredibly high levels of security, a demented monster found a weakness and used illegal firearms (they were illegally modified and function and type were altered) to commit an atrocious act.

 

The scary part isn't that people didn't do enough. It's that people did everything to keep people safe and here we find ourselves.

 

Vegas will continue. This is just going to be taking one day at a time. But, we're here. And we are moving forward as best we can. Thank you all for your prayers and support. I've heard people say "well saying you are praying is hollow." It isn't hollow if you're praying.

I'm leaving in 72 hours for Vegas. A bit scared but more then anything utterly heartbroken for all the victims. I don't understand the world nowadays :cry:

By all accounts Celine's team is all safe, but still, this must hit so close to home. One of her violinist's friends was shot. A hockey coach from the Vegas junior hockey program was shot. It must all still be such a shock, being so close to it all, and I'm sure everybody knows somebody in town who was personally affected.

I'm not at all surprised she's going ahead with the show tomorrow - but she's a trooper. With this and the Manchester incident... concerts have clearly become a target.

The world has reached such levels of craziness today that it's beyond anything to cope with. Natural disasters are all over the place, terrorism is striking on every corner of the world continually, and if that wasn't enough, my country is seeing violence and riots with one police fighting against another for one region wanting to split from Spain at their own will and causing a very sad civil breakdown.

 

I just can't with all this madness :cry:
