I'm not hater but the award means less to me now that I see J Lo got it. Not an iconic singer (or actress... or dancer...) in my books.

 

Lol yep. Agree with the first 3 recipients. Not number 4 though.

Something Mariah or Whitney hasn't got 😆The first of the trilogy 😀

But to get an ICON award and sing a cover. Come on. She is receiving it in recognition of her big hits not this.

YES!!!! Perfect Song! It's great we're going to be able to have it as a stand alone performance (award shows are always the best :clap: ) and I'm pretty sure it will be the updated version as 1. As Mike Z said she's selling the vegas show and 2. On her facebook page they say that "She will perform a special rendition"

While I agree that an original song would have been better, I think TSMGO is extremely fitting for her first big performance after Rene's death (I'm not counting LV because that was her show and wasn't broadcast on television). Contrary to your thoughts, I think it cements her icon status... despite everything else going on in her life she continues to be a class-act and will continue her work, even if it Rene isn't physically by her side and this song sends that message perfectly. I love her for it :wub:

Reading complains about her doing a cover made me think... when was the last time Celine sang an original award at a big American Awards show? Maybe Taking Chances?

 

I remember Dance With My Father, Smile, L'hymne a l'amour and now The Show Must Go On.

Fantastic! Great choice! For all complaining about the cover again (no surprise here, same people over and over again)... well.. What was she supposed to sing on that night from her catalogue? Given where she's at the moment in her life the choice couldn't be better! You damn know she's gonna slay !!!...,, ;) Edited by BartFCS

I think non Celine fans will be surprised at what a great job she does of this song with the new arrangement!

Don't anyone shoot me now lol. I've been VERY vocal on this forum about not wanting that many covers in her shows, on her albums etc.

 

But given the circumstances and this being her first big appearance to the world, I think the song selection is BRILLANT!

It makes a BIG statement to the world that " the show AND the career must and WILL go on". Honestly I think this decision is BRILLANT. Now if she came out singing a random cover that doesn't speak to her life right now at this moment like, "At 17" or " Mr. Paganini" then I wouldn't like it but the fact is she doesn't have a new single or album to promote right now so instead I think they are doing this song to make a statement to the world, and it's awesome! Plus it's a bonus that there are some killer notes in that song so the world can see that she still has that un deniable voice!

I was actually thinking she would be wearing a short dress... Considering the award, song, and awards event, that makes total sense!

I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!

I think she will maybe have 3 outfits, something fun and fresh for her arrival as let's face it she will have to do the red carpet for this....

 

Something hot and sexy for the performance.

 

And something amazing and elegant to for inside/ accepting the award.

 

Just hope they don't do the award immediately before or after the performance...

 

Thinking about it, it would be incredible if she opened the show with this song then relaxed for the rest of the show and then is given the award...

 

Anyway, I'm sure it will be a night of many emotions for her for obvious reasons.

 

But great that we will all be watching around the globe at the same time and celebrating our icon :)

I agree. I thought the same thing and couldn't find a more appropriate song than TSMGO.

I can see her expresion and her moves already during this performance. Bring it! The wait is going to draaaggg by. Yes,I hope she wears something sexy but not like The Voice episode for Incredible.

 

I hope the AMA's (or the network that it's on) dosen't take it down right after like they did with Hymne. :angry:
