I don't expect it to be much different for her upcoming mini tour, unfortunately.

Celine does more live singing in her current Vegas show than she has done since the days of TCOML tour. This alone shows she cares about music and singing. The fact that we all have our personal preferences about the setlist does not make her residency a fashion show. To say or imply so is reductive and you've done that twice this week.

This guy never gives up, right? And I suppose it's you who has the gift of wisdom to always tell everybody in this forum what's a valid or invalid opinion, and even what's an opinion and what not?

 

Well, for your information let me tell you that yes, it is indeed an opinion, it's MY opinion and it's my perception of things. And everyone has one, like it or not.

 

Who talked about singing live or lipsynch now? Don't deviate my opinions now please. I didn't say a word about singing live or not, nor did I criticise it (in fact, that live/lipsynch debate is one I couldn't care less normally). She is doing a lot of live singing in this show? Great, so?... What does that have to do with the fact that her concerts look rather stagnated and that she rarely sings her own songs and does too many covers? I simply agreed with another member when saying that her shows never seem to evolve; the only thing that evolves is her wardrobe.

 

After watching countless interviews since 2003, TV reports and even in "Three boys and a new show" documentary, it's enough to realise that they give much more importance to the fashion side of the show and what she's wearing, than the musical side of it and the rehearsal of songs, what she wants to sing and what not (and why), etcetera etcetera. We do get all the details of the latest model she's wearing and all the wardrobe changes, but we barely have had information regarding why she (they) picked the songs and why not. Not even a proper documentary in A New Day DVD. We'd even got to see Annie Horth talking and showing the greatest models she has found for Céline and all the chit-chat behind, but how many interviews have we got with Mego (or now Scott Price) and Céline herself talking about the songs in the show, in 13 years of Vegas residence? Why they chose this or that cover, why this or that song made it, why this went out and why they replaced it for another one? That's some information that many people would like to know, not if she's wearing Balmain or Armani in her next show. So excuse me, but I reaffirm my opinion when I say that today she looks more concerned on what she's wearing on her body than what songs she's delivering to the public (either neglecting most of the times the current songs she has just releaed on a new album and also never asking the fans/public what they would like to hear on her concerts. Something that many artists have already done BTW).

 

So yes, that's one opinion and it's mine. More biased or unbiased to your eyes but still an O-P-I-N-I-O-N

 

Do you ever keep track of how many times I say something? Now that amuses me But may I warn you on this: this Vegas thing is one of my favourite topics to criticise, so I kindly suggest you to save your efforts and give up soon, because you will hear me a few more times

First, learn the difference between opinions and facts. The sky is blue. FACT. To say you don't like the colour of the sky. OPINION. To say the sky is red is not a fact, it is not an opinion either. Same way you can like and dislike whatever you want about the show, but to call it a fashion show when Celine is singing her lungs out is not a fact, nor an opinion. It is just an invalid statement. Her current residency is a show about singing, end of story.

 

Second, I understand you never talked about lipping and I was not trying to put words in your mouth. I brought up her live singing to further prove that Celine cares about more things than you choose to give her credit for.

 

Now, as far as the music is concered, 6 out of 22 songs are covers (this is a bit more than 1/4 of the show) which is not even that much. But then again you might want less than this which is OK, it is your personal preference and as such it is respected. However, to say the show does not evolve is absurb. Fact is the show evolved in 2015. Over 30% of it was changed. Again, you might not like the evolution that occured but they still made a decent effort. And fact remains that they DID make the show more original than it was and the current covers ARE less random than the previous ones.

Céline is back!!! I'm so happy! I'm also happy that the green dress is back, I've missed that one! It's my favorite out of the show, so it's nice to know that it's back but there's so much in this next week! Can't wait!

Of course it's a show about singing, with a singer. It's not a show about cooking. But that doesn't leave behind the "fact" that she has neglected too many of her own songs for a long time, and the "fact" that many fans would dream to see her singing more of her own songs and replace some hits she's been singing too much time for new songs.

 

And Vegas can't escape the fact that her tours still include a lot of hits and covers, and very few of the new songs. It happened with TC and happened again in 2013.

That's something I agree with, her current show is better and more original than the 2011 version (thank God).

 

Again, your point of view is YOUR point of view. What you call a decent effort, to me it's not. When they include ANDHC, TTWII and IA, three of her latest (last) big hits shortened in a medley, and not in its FULL version, I call that a lazy effort, to give 3 of her most and latest recongizable songs a place that is not decent enough. Why don't she performs the random covers in that intimate medley and give those 3 songs the space they deserve performing them in full? Why these 3 songs (3 original songs of her own btw) for which she was listened worldwide and gave her her last 3 worldwide hits, are reduced at the minimum, and not the covers?

 

So, when she performs in this show these 3 songs in FULL version, with the same treatment as the others (with a full orchestra), and does all the random covers in a medley (so the opposite she's doing now), I will consider they did a decent effort. Otherwise is the same "let's give priority to random covers and the least space I can to my own songs" old story of always.

 

And that was just an example of the regression (or the stagnation I see) in the show, not that I'm obsessed with this section of the show all of a sudden There are many examples where fans see that her concerts are all but novelty.

 

But listen, I replied to someone who doesn't see an evolution in her concerts either. I'm not the only one. I'm not the only fan who just sees her DVDs released like a copy of her previous one, without barely new surprises to give her the credit you ask, so little to no evolution. It's not my opinion only, it's what other fans are seeing too. If you cannot respect that, it's not my problem. But you do have a problem respecting other people's opinion

I keep these statements: That the show is about singing. That the current show is better than the previous one.

 

As I said before I understand that the changes meant little to you which is respected. I underlined the word so you shouldn't have been arguing that.

Well.... I ended up falling asleep about 30 minutes before show time. So I didn't show up for the party! Whoops!

 

I had a feeling we wouldn't see any big changes... the green dress doesn't surprise me. Before you read the following please know that I do not make these comments from a negative place, in fact I see it as a positive thing!!! I feel like Céline has gained a little weight over the last few months and that silver pant dress was starting to look a little tight..particularly in the rear area (hehe)... the green dress surely has a little more give to it and is probably easier to strut around in. I wonder if that was why the change was made? She looks phenomenal, I prefer her with a little more "hip"

 

I'm glad to hear her sounding so strong! I had a feeling the raspiness from the February-March shows was just from stress. The time off was needed and well-deserved! So glad to have our girl back though
