#22 is the peak of the single on French Airplay Chart. This means 3 things:

 

1.Once again the album sales pushed the single like it had happened with PAMP and SA back in November 2012 when SA was released and PAMP reached its peak.

 

2.People are now getting to know the song.

 

3.Encore Un Soir is far from reaching the end of its run.

Yet whenever Madonna releases something or U2 for example radio everywhere play them. Celine was "old" 10 years ago was she?

Not true anymore, Madonna started to have big problem with her MDNA album, which did still quite well (Gimme all your luvin, Girl Gone Wild), but with the last album she got forgotten. Yes Celine got old for radios many many years before Madonna, even as 10 year younger tho, but lets not forget that it was also her decision and her fault as she sold her soul to Vegas. But even without it, she was never beloved by radio critiques and never cool for them, thats why it was easier for them to forget about that "old lady from Vegas". Madonna, Gwen Stefani, and other "cooler" singers had better longevity, true, but even they havent succeeded with this fight.

What about Cher, Mariah...? They still have huge airplay.

Well in this case even Celine is still huge in airplay, there are many "romantic" or 90s radios that play her massively. Cher and Mariah are not really known for their new songs either.

 

At the end of the day, who listens the radio nowadays? Youtube is the biggest medium and Celine Team is failing even in this field, which is an unbelievable shame because people who want to find Celine and would love her are still there, even teens

Well radio are still a big element for artists like Céline I'd say - as most of the people would buy her albums are not teens - so people like me : we still put radio in the car when going to work or at home when cooking so to reach out to this target, you would still need that a single is played on certain radio - I do not say all, but in order for the next English album to be successful, besides certain TV shows and newspapers, Aldo needs to make sure that the single is aired on radio listened to by people in their 30s

 

Regarding youtube, I do not really understand why you would be so critical. Celine veto provides for all of her hits and more (album tracks) and it has been improving for the last year. Furthermore, Céline is not doing too bad on youtube overall:

(i) Based on the youtube countdown Céline is the most successful within the "oldies" (madonna / mariah carey etc) (this recap take into consideration views since September 2014 only, which is even more impressive as this is definitely not the most successful period album wise). She even tops younger artists like Pink, Lady Gaga or Christina Aguilera.

(ii) The only dark point is that you see that the most successful / viewed songs are the 90s (with MHWGO being a monster hit) and those from ANDHC (ANDHC / IA and IS - good Lord why oh why Sony never released this song as a single is beyond my understanding ). Besides Parler A Mon Pere, there is no song released after 2002 which appear in the top 20. This may explain as well why she keeps singing the same songs again and again especially in Las Vegas: that's the songs that the general public is looking for. Two side notes on this chart though: I Love You from FYI is in the top20 which I found very surprising and Happy Xmas (War is Over) which seems clearly the most successful song from her Xmas album (me thinking, why not doing a music video for this song now in order to push the album every Xmas ).

(iii) But I would agree with you: Team Céline / Sony needs to be careful with next English album and that the first single has a proper MV - possibly interesting enough (à la IACBTMN ?) - and released at the same time of the single to promote correctly the album

We may have new excerpts from the infamous music video for Encore un soir. :w00t:

 

I was watching the bonus part of "Personne ne bouge" (Nobody moves), recent TV show from the French TV station Arte (the arty French-German TV station), and from 10:26 onwards they show clips from the Encore un soir video (at least it is what the commentator says - this section of the TV show was about the fact that Céline shares a lot with fans, and he says "Last act of the exhibition of her personal life, 4 months after René's death, she released a song "Encore Un Soir" written by Jean Jacques Goldman as homage to René who died in 2016 and the images of the clip shows for a last time, between sincerity and indecency, private and public pics of the couple"). I was baffled to encounter this by surprise. The images really fit the music line and lyrics (but at the same time the commentator does not seem to know that the MV was never released).

 

It was quite moving

 

After watching this that maybe the MV was cancelled eventually as it was very personal and that either Sony feared a potential backlash or Céline thought it was too much personal.

^ thanks, can’t wait to see that whole show, there were some never seen footage in that bonus/preview clip. Love to hear producers and behind-the-scene professionals talking about the voice, the music, all the technicalities. It’s refreshing. Hearing abt her love life, family is great, but sometimes its too much for me.

 

As for the EUS video clip, it seems like it was just a collage of old videos of celine n René... cute but i’m sure if they canceled the video clip it was because it wasn’t that great.

If those intimate moments between Céline and René were really supposed to be part of the video, i think someone made the right decision not to release it. A bit too much in my opinion.
