The René Angélil legacy

I feel devastated. I knew this day would come but it's always a huge shock to read the actual phrase. René died this morning. René is gone.

Sending all my wishes to the whole family. Celine lost the love of her life, and we lost the one that started it all.

Just... no words right now. Absolutely in shock. I can't even imagine how the family feels right now. RIP Rene. Thank you for everything that you have done for Celine.

Mais qui peut dire, qu’il peut vivre sans amour, qui?

Tonight will be the first night she goes to bed without her love, her husband, her muse. I cannot begin to imagine the thoughts, sounds and images which will go through her head and heart as she attempts to go to sleep.

Gosh! Completly forgot, that his 74th birthday was only two days away ... How unbelievable tragic!

Incredibly saddened by the news. :( Rest in Peace, Rene.

I'm flying to the US for a holiday tomorrow, and one of the things I was looking forward to was seeing Celine on the 17th. The show has been cancelled, so while there are other things to look forward to on my trip, it sadly won't be as good without being able to see Celine. Hopefully another day :)

It must have been much worse than was led on.

I always felt it was worse than what they lead on.

this is very big here, every radio and tele station are talking about it non stop.....very sad....

My local news don't often cover the death of people in the music or film industry unless they are of a specific status. Tonight there was piece on Rene and today's sad new.

I'm usually so happy to see Celine on TV, trending on Internet and so on but not today I wish this was a dream.

According to TMZ, Rene's death was unexpected and sudden he had meetings for today. This makes this much more sad

Frankly, I think it could well explain every off-key or weak vocal performance we have seen over the last two months. It is certainly out of character for her. Despite putting on a brave face every night on stage and being funny with the audience, her singing voice showed signs of stress that could not be hidden.

It all suddenly comes together.

Hope he did die in Celine's arms.

What a sad news..

Wishing Celine and her three sons all the strength they need and Celine should do what she wants to do now. Hope she takes all the time she needs to overcome the loss of her husband.

So sad news.

I saw the fb announcement two minutes after it was published. At first I thought "this is not true, the account has been hacked "

Then I checked on the news for many minutes to see if this was real. Sadly it is.

Praying for Celine and the kids, as well as the whole family.

Interesting considering Aldo said it was really bad and they were glad God took him now and yet TMZ says he was doing better and had business meetings today.

I hope it's not true, how Aldo expressed that. It's rather tasteless saying "they were glad God took him". I pretty sure they wanted him to stay.

It's clear what's been ment with that (ending his pain) - but Aldo, as Celine's official representative, should have choosen his words more careful ...

All I can tell myself to keep myself from getting emotional is that he's in a better place. Vole...

We will all miss him but he will go down in history as one of the greats. It was a shock to me, but we all knew it was coming. I wish Celine and her family peace.

What's even more sad is his birthday was 2 days away. But life isn't fair, sadly :(

It's not tasteless at all, and if someone you know is really suffering, as it's obvious Rene had been, the selfless thing to do is let them go and be released from their pain. Cancer and terminal illness are very rough for both the victims and their families, and unless you have walked in their shoes, you have no place to judge.

Absolutely devastating. No words, but to thank you tremendously, Rene, for nurturing this gift and showcasing it to the world.

That's not what I ment. It's about the WORDS he choose!

With all the other words YOU wrote I totally agree!

I hope Caesars Palace will place a picture of Rene on the big screen tonight on the strip. They owe this man way more than they even know.

I'm sure they will honor him in a very big way!

Such heartbreaking news.

Celine's February 23 performance will be now be more emotional than her return in August. I hope she is able to return to the stage at that time. I know it will be very tough, but I believe she will for Rene, because he wanted nothing more than for her to sing. And what a blessing that he was able to see her return. But man, there will not be a dry eye in the room that night. Just the thought that that will be her first concert in almost thirty years that he has not been by her side, it makes me want to cry.

Je t'alme Celine.
