Jessyka Posted November 9, 2015 at 04:28 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 04:28 PM I'm listening to the songs and trying to imagine what they would sound like in Celine's voice, which is sure to make them a thousand times better. 5 Quote http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/backup674/Banners/Image1.jpg
donpi86 Posted November 9, 2015 at 04:31 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 04:31 PM (edited) Here my review. As others, I'm not french speakers... so I will only put a spot on melody: Ne laisse pas le temps: Beautiful guitar. I really like it, it is very simple but I think Celine can give it a beautiful sensibility. You can feel something nostalgic, and probably she is in that mood too... 8/10 Et pourtant: It feels very ethereal... too angelical for my taste... And because we know Celine team.. they would add more effects to the song and it would be too much. 6/10 Si on passe l'hiver : Excuse me? Back to the 80's? ... Completely outdated... bye bye... 1/10 Le voilier blanc: Very Celine french style... it sounds like one of those duets she makes with old french singers. It seems a little bit boring.. 3/10 Je reviens vers toi: Classic 90's ballad... next. 4/10 Dis-moi quelque chose: This could be a good one, acoustic feeling, simple melody but with a hook. The chorus is a bit tipical in Celine, to use different vocals and I usually don't like that too much but well... this is not a bad option... 6/10 On a beau dire:Another outdated song... Maybe trying another arrangements but this 90's jazzy song is sooo outdated... 1/10 Ne pars pas: Mmmmm... I like it! It reminds me a little bit to Carla Bruni and I like the harmonic, kind of new in Celine? 8,5/10 Dans ta chaleur: Nothing very special but kind of beautiful... I don't know... at the end of the song it's like it is sung in a forced low key... and that's something I usually don't like from Celine.. 5/10 Je veux te dire: It seems like one of those storytelling songs, it's very easy going... like it. 7/10 Avant que tu ne sois seul: The kind of pop-rock song that I think it doesn't fit with the nowadays Celine. Next. 5/10 Je reste là:Yeah! Love the beginning, with the percussion and that kind of folk pop style.. It's a pitty the song starts to get lost with the chorus... 7/10 Au-delà du miroir: Another 90's ballad... 4/10 Frère et soeur de son: The freak choice... Horrible... 1/10 Faudra faire mieux: Seriously? 1/10 Je te donnerai tout: French pop song crying to be on radios but never meant to be a success. This could have been a discard from any X-Factor kind of reality contestant new upcoming album... Love after love: Maybe this is because of the Taking Chances album but why to try to put Celine as a dark rock balladist ... completely out.. 2/10 Je commence à m'y faire: There's something wrong in the arrangements, probably that kind of synths on the background, but I like the folk acoustic thing... 7/10 Comment savoir:Beautiful and effective ballad . Less is better. Powerful vocals for a powerful vocalist. 9/10 Pardonner ce retard: Another horrible freak song with no interest. 1/10 À la plus haute branche: An interesting choice. 8/10 J'écrirai: A little bit 90's but probably because of the echo effect not necessary for Celine, but also the structure is a bit 90's but always effective in Celine. 6/10 Ta vie:Water effect and ethereal synths... common... 3/10 J'aurais voulu te dire: Very Celinish, this could have been a discard from Sans Attendre... 7/10 Que vaut ma vie: Interesting backing but not the rest of the song... but the only interesting uptempo choice from the list...7/10 Edited November 9, 2015 at 04:36 PM by donpi86 1 Quote
Daysleeper Posted November 9, 2015 at 04:57 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 04:57 PM I'm not really impressed by the songs. I should listen them one more time though. There are some nice piano ballads but I see them only as album fillers. I don't think any of these songs could be a potential hit. Of course they are only demos and they might sound differently with the new arrangements and Céline's voice. I voted for the song "Ta vie" for now. 1 Quote
Timster Posted November 9, 2015 at 05:05 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 05:05 PM (edited) For me the stand-out track is 'Que vaut ma vie'. I would love to see Celine singing this. It's one of the only songs that kept my interest from start to finish, plus it's a style that is not typical of Celine. I could see this working very well acoustically, it has a rootsy 1F4T feel to it which I love. I also like 'Ta vie', I enjoyed the lyrics and the overall sound is not that of a boring ballad like many of the other songs. Edited November 9, 2015 at 05:05 PM by Timster 3 Quote
powerofamor17 Posted November 9, 2015 at 05:22 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 05:22 PM (edited) It's a toss up between: J'aurais voulu te dire J'écrirai Comment savoir I love Mikaël Benzekr's voice. He's very talented. Im leaning towards the last two I listed. Jamil is also very talented as well, I love her emotion and voice, it's gorgeous. Mikaël is heaven to my ears, his voice, the music, I don't know French, but it sounds B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. To be completely honest, the others were boring and I skipped through almost all of them. I tried but I know I can't. Edited November 9, 2015 at 05:24 PM by powerofamor17 Quote
québecflower Posted November 9, 2015 at 05:29 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 05:29 PM Well, most of the songs remind me a lot of what she has been singing through the years. That doesn't mean that they're bad, but they're nothing new and special. My favourites are:1) On a beau dire: I find it jazzy and I think Celine will like it2) Comment savoir: A beautiful melody with nice vocals3) Que vaut ma vie: For me, it's the best from all and I think I'm gonna vote for it! the exact same for me... i add to that Je reviens vers toi,,,the lyrics are very Celinish... But many songs are so sad. Do we have to revive death every lyrics and breath. 3 Quote Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....
québecflower Posted November 9, 2015 at 05:34 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 05:34 PM So a question, is it common for a French song to have an English chorus? I find this song interesting. "Love After Love"it happens more and more in Québec. 1 Quote Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....
comingback Posted November 9, 2015 at 05:48 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 05:48 PM Ok, guys i just skipped through the songs and I must say I'm shocked how boring these songs are.Where is JJG when we need him . 5 Quote
Popular Post celine4evauk Posted November 9, 2015 at 06:40 PM Popular Post Posted November 9, 2015 at 06:40 PM I'm thinking these songs are so similar in style etc, is the reason why they're getting us to choose. So hopefully there aren't too many other (if any lol) similar songs to these already picked for the album. Let's face it, if JJG etc has written a song for Celine, they wouldn't put it in a contest. She'd be recording it. Period. 8 Quote
remykyes Posted November 9, 2015 at 06:43 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 06:43 PM WOW! That was the best 25 they could come up with?! For me the stand-out track is 'Que vaut ma vie'.I would love to see Celine singing this. It's one of the only songs that kept my interest from start to finish, plus it's a style that is not typical of Celine. I could see this working very well acoustically, it has a rootsy 1F4T feel to it which I love. I agree completely. Couldn't understand the lyrics since I don't speak a lick of French, HOWEVER, the melody and beat were very uptempo as well as catchy and interesting. Something totally not typical Celine style. Which is why I voted for it. 2 Quote New Signature Coming Soon!

DionFanAlways Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:03 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:03 PM it happens more and more in Québec.oh I see... Quote I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.
Angel2006 Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:34 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:34 PM I love Comment Savoir! This song fits Celine's voice the best in my opinion. I really liked Frere et soeur de son and Love After Love as well. It was really interesting and different. Those are my top 3 picks. Quote
celine4evauk Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:41 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:41 PM So I'm spreading the tracks out. Today songs 1-6. Voted for Que Vaut Ma Vie.Tomorrow the next few lol 2 Quote

Allysadreams Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:49 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:49 PM Slightly worried that a lot of people have voted for some songs that I'm not keen on....like Que Vaut Ma Vie, it's a good song but in my opinion not among the best. Really surprised that 'Et Pourtant' hasn't scored higher with fans as I really think it is a beautiful song and celine could add so much with her melodies 1 Quote 'Love Doesn't Ask Why, it speaks from the heart.....'

Allysadreams Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:51 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:51 PM Maybe I need to re listen to 'Que Vaut Ma Vie' but I'm staying at a friends at the moment and not home til Wednesday so will listen to all the full tracks then Quote 'Love Doesn't Ask Why, it speaks from the heart.....'
Neddo Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:56 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:56 PM And just as I posted I'm so glad I'm not alone on my thoughts on 'Et Pourtant' it's so beautifulI like the part with that electronic sound. And it sounds more modern than all these demos lol. I wonder what will happen to remaining 24 songs... I really think that these demos don't do justice to some songs. Also Avant que tu ne sois seul isn't a pop-rock song. In my opinion my top 2 songs can match complex songs that Celine had with Goldman and also few later ones. Still none of these demos match SJNRDT. SJNRDT has better melody, different production. It really stands out. Quote http://imageshack.us/a/img138/7804/5tq2.png
Shamrock_1982 Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:56 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:56 PM I like Julien's uptempo!! Quote
celine4evauk Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:58 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 07:58 PM Is there any way we can see how the votes are going? Or do we have to wait until the 1st? That's probably better really, no one can get too miffed until it's all over! 😂 Quote
québecflower Posted November 9, 2015 at 08:03 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 08:03 PM And just as I posted I'm so glad I'm not alone on my thoughts on 'Et Pourtant' it's so beautifulet pourtant is a song about loss...death, i'm afraid to have a song like that on the album, worse, where Celine has no choice but to sing it. 1 Quote Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....
Jessyka Posted November 9, 2015 at 08:25 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 08:25 PM I didn't vote. I guess I didn't like any of the songs. I'll have a second listen tomorrow to see if one or more will grow on me. 1 Quote http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/backup674/Banners/Image1.jpg
browseceline Posted November 9, 2015 at 08:25 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 08:25 PM (edited) I am listening to all the songs..most of songs all sound acoustic and a lot of them sound folk. And most of the songs sound like Fillers, not hits at all. I will give my full review for the songs soon. I can't speak or understand French, but I can hear what I like and I like hearing Celine singing in French. And most of these songs are nice too. But I miss a song that makes me say ... wow that was cool. And a lot of the songs make me fall asleep.. From what I heard now, I can say I like. Et Pourtant - it sounds like song sung by Natasha St. Pier and I can totally hear Celine singing the song Edited November 9, 2015 at 08:28 PM by browseceline 2 Quote <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Peppercorn1991 Posted November 9, 2015 at 08:44 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 08:44 PM (edited) We have to remember that these are demos so it's the actual medelys we should be listening to not the music itself. Maybe we should make a topic where we can all vote and get an idea what the forum feel? Kev x Edited November 9, 2015 at 08:44 PM by Peppercorn1991 1 Quote
browseceline Posted November 9, 2015 at 08:47 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 08:47 PM (edited) Favorites 1Que vaut ma vie - nice uptempo song. Don't like the ending, could be better, but it sounds like a song written for Celine2 Et Pourtant - now heard it is a song about Dead, but I still like the beautiful music and melody3 Je reste La - yes another uptempo song among all these sleepy songs4 À la plus haute branche - nice soft song - sounds like a ballad perfect for Celine, it sounds very vulnerable5 Je reviens vers toi - I love this soft voice the guy has and I am sure Celine can make a nice version as well Least favorites 1 on a beau dire - pff it is just a challenge to listen to this whole song..pff it is boring, it is sung monotone and the melody is boring andthe music is boring and it is also kind of dissonant.. ultimate sleepmode here! 2 Pardonner ce retard - What a weird rhytm... and it sounds so outdated...I can imagine all the writers also checking our opinion here as wellso I have to say, everyone is very talented making their own unique songs. But i guess it is also a matter of taste Edited November 9, 2015 at 09:05 PM by browseceline Quote <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Angel2006 Posted November 9, 2015 at 09:02 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 09:02 PM Are we allowed to vote more then once for the song we want? I tried doing it and it didn't work, but I'm wondering if people will be able to vote once per day? Also I really hope people vote for either Comment Savoir or Frere et soeur de son. The other songs don't really do it for me and seem like they are just fillers. I would love to have a English translation to all these songs though, so that I can make the best decision possible. SuperLove4Celine Posted November 9, 2015 at 09:07 PM Posted November 9, 2015 at 09:07 PM I'm a little over 3/4 of the way through listening to the demos. I'm "short listing" the songs that stood out to me for one reason or another. I'm being much more generous on the first go 'round. Afterwards, not so nice. LOL 2 Quote
