Submissions for the new French album

I made this thread to ONLY discuss the 25 submissions that will be revealed next Monday November 9th!

 

More than 1000 of you answered Céline’s call for submissions. A jury, headed by Charles Benoît, a radio host for more than 30 years of in Canada, has chosen the top 25 songs from your submissions. The voting will now be turned over to the fans to choose their favourite.

 

Voting opens at 6:00 EST on Monday, November 9th atwww.celinedion.com and will remain open until midnight EST Friday, November 27th.

 

Your favourite song will be revealed on December 1st.

I can't wait to vote! I am so happy that Celine's team is doing something like this for her fans. It's really special and it makes the fans feel like they had a part in the making of the album. It's really a wonderful idea. I hope they do this for the English album as well.

I guess this process will be apart of the new documentary? Maybe that's why they are filming in Europe ..... I sure I read some of the jury are from the music industry in France?

If they release the documentary with the CD it will make the whole album feel so much more creative ..... I'm really excited

This is clearly really progressive, forward thinking and with the best intentions; however I dunno how i feel about it, it smacks a little bit of desperation. Like lisa scott-lee had to make a documentary about finding a hit song or she'll quit music you know? haha. Love that they've selected supposedly quality songs and got top peoples input but i dont like the idea of a public vote it feels very cheap and lacking an artistic direction...

 

I will look forward to the doc however because it will actually be about the music and selection process which is great.

oh...and i almost forgot the kiss of death - hearing the demos before she's sang them ..... horrendous - back in the day that would have been fine because celien would have always sang them better but these days the demos are sometimes better aka loved me back to life...i struggled after hearing sia's perfect version 1st. it just ruins the magic of listening for the 1st time.

This is my thought exactly. It makes D'Elles look even better in her catalog. Now, I felt Sans attendre missed the bar just because there was no real direction and LMBTL was manic and changed what it wanted to be half way through.

I hope all 25 songs have a cohesive sound or theme. I too agree think that it cheapens the artistic integrity of an artist who suppose to create a masterpiece of an album. It's like, "oh let's see what the fans like and I'll just sing it and make it track 12 so they'll buy it and be thankful". Just my opinion of course.

I don't see the big deal of the fans voting on just one song. This forum is very bipolar sometimes. Complain complain complain because we're not involved, now we are and it compromises her artistic integrity? Let's pick a side of the fence here.

I have to disagree. It's only one song being chosen by the fans. The rest, her and her team are deciding. How does one song being contributed by fans seem desperate. It seems to me like she wants to involve her fans more, which is revolutionary and earnest. It's a great gesture to do, considering we've never had a chance to determine anything before.

I don't think someone's opinion is complaining and I never said anything about not being involved. And not every single fan has to have a unanimous opinion. No need to have everyone in the same backyard, many different tasty milkshakes

Thank you. I don't get it. But, I guess they just need something new to discuss every 5 seconds. I love the idea, it's exciting and different for Celine. But sadly, whatever she does, she'll be shackled to judgement by so called stans. And they wonder why she doesn't participate so much in the development of her projects.

It's an open forum, yes, but not a complain forum. Although we all have our opinions, isn't it a bit nauseating to continuously discover our pet peeves spouted by the fans who consistently praise and disregard her simultaneously. It's childish really. Furthermore, with it being a *Discussion* forum, objectors also have a opinion to voice.

It wasn't a competition, but I guess.

 

Celine fans are kind-hearted and gentle, but that doesn't mean we can't vocally propose our opinions.

 

P.s.

If all fans were kind-hearted, then why do some unwittingly declaim nonsense and negativity towards her decisions. Quite contradicting if you ask me.

Like I said earlier, nobody was singled out. There are just some of us who flip flop faster than politicians on certain Celine subjects. Having an opinion is fantastic! I certainly have plenty. But back them up with conviction. Believe in your true thoughts. Don't go back and forth to whichever way the wind is blowing.

I'm ok with the fact they're doing this but it'll be weird to hear a song sung by someone else than Celine and LATER by Celine. I have never ever even listened to the less known covers because I don't care... and now I'll be forced to haha
