Celine will appear on Michael Buble's Christmas in Hollywood Special

I do love Aldo's management as well. I wish he had replaced Rene years ago. Rene had lost touch with the industry and should have stepped down at least 10 years ago. Its a pity its sickness why he was forced to step down.

He should have been enjoying his senior years and just enjoying the fruits of his labor when he master minded Celine's brilliant career since age 12.

Who are you to assume that Celine and Rene didn't decide together to step back and enjoy their life together, enjoy their kids, and the fruits of what they had spent such a long time building? She has said as much many times; that she wanted to step back, that she didn't want to chase record sales and live for the next album / tour like she did in her earlier years. Clearly she wanted other things from life, things that didn't involve constant recording, touring, promos, interviews, TV specials, etc, etc. And, it seems, for a number of years the Vegas show provided her just enough of an outlet to do what she loves and still have some semblance of stability and a relatively normal life that let her be a mom - something she clearly cares about deeply.

 

I suspect this recent flurry of activity is two-fold: 1) Aldo wanting to prove himself and 2) Celine wanting to show Rene that she'll stick with it, that she won't forsake this incredible career Rene had built for her.

 

But there'll never be a better manager for Celine than Rene for one simple reason. He doesn't just care about what's best for her as an artist and a brand, but what's best for her as a normal human being. You know, one with hopes and dreams that aren't defined solely by tours and album sales and one who has priorities in life other than her job. Because don't forget, much as she clearly loves it, it's her job. She doesn't need to be constantly on the go, and she sure has earned some time off.

Well said! I've always reminded myself of the fact that if it wasn't for Rene, Celine would have retired in 2000! So no vegas shows, albums from ANDHC, no tour etc. God knows how much they would have had to pay CP and Co to get out of the Vegas commitment. Not saying they couldn't afford to, but whether or not you're for or against lv, you've got a lot to be thankful to Rene for! No one else would have been able to convince her to go back on stage.

She was really amazing in both songs! Besides exceptionally beautiful, she was also very powerful vocally.

Regarding the views expressed on that the recent appearences and songs selected in the last events were not Aldo's decisions, I disagree. I believe that Aldo has a greater ability to convince Celine of doing things, which in the past she had refused through René. I refer you to the statements of Celine herself on the "Tout le monde en parle" back in 2012, where she said that she refused to do 90% of the things she was proposed and René was forced to reject them. We also see that Aldo persuaded her to change some of the band members and even her musical director for years. I think it was easier for her to deny things that René suggested her, because he is a member of her family, compared with Aldo. Of course, not to be misunderstood, I do not mean in any way that René was not a good manager, just that she needed a renewed air. We hope for good things in the future.

 

Aldo's doing a good job, but Annie Horth said Celine and Rene chose the song for the AMA's. And Aldo himself said that Rene was behind the choice of TSMGO and several others in the revamped Celine. I think Rene has much more influence on artistic choices than Aldo does, both because of his emotional bond with Celine and because of Rene's artistic nature (JJG said Rene was very unusual - more artist than businessman). Aldo's been doing mostly good stuff, but he seems much more business oriented. I can't think of any indication he's given of being much involved on the artistic side.(other than firing most of her band and cutting the size of the orchestra in half, which I think was much more about business than art. Just my opinion.)

I'm so happy, tonight they are showing the Michael Buble Christmas show on TV here. At last I can record it onto the HD decoder,and watch it on big TV in surround sound. Then on Christmas Day, they are showing the Frank Sinatra show, yeh!!! Sorry, had to share it with you guys, as we never really get anything with Celine, so I'm really happy. If I didn't have the forum, I wouldn't know anything about her, absolutely nothing. So I am extremely grateful to everyone for uploading things on here, thanks a zillion, thank you..

Now her face and her eyes on this TV Special while she was performing makes totally sense today. Surely it wasn't a Happy taping that one. I wonder if Michael Bublé knew what she was going through, judging by his looks and how he goes to embrace her

So it was announced today that Buble is hosting the next edition of the Juno Awards.

They'll be held in Ottawa, so hopefully more bilingual than usual.

And given she's got one of (if not THE) best-selling Canadian albums this year, I'd be shocked if Celine weren't nominated. Hope she shows up!

Agreed -- it was apparent that she felt it in her bones that it would be Rene's last Christmas.

Yes those performances were so good but the sadness on her face was so apparent, I remember thinking Rene must be very bad. So hard to watch, must have been difficult for her to tape. Buble was so supportive of her.

That's why I'm glad she's got December off. She can rest, enjoy the build up to the holidays with her family. She's worked so hard this year despite everything.

Those performances are great but so hard to watch.
