Celine never mentioned her band her scott price in the show...no introduction or anything.

yeah me too! She got a brand new musical director and spoke nothing of him or the new band members. The first version of this show she talked with Mego on stage and Andre with introductions. If I had to say one thing about the show at all negatively that would be it...but its really nitpicking I guess.

I've listened to the bootlegs with so much joy.. That is so wonderful that some of you got to go to opening night. I also watched some of the pre-show interview. I cannot believe the composure she showed in the face of those personal questions.. I hope Rene felt the love from the fans-you could hear it.

Doesn't this discussion of lipsincing or not ever stop? Celine's running a very hard time now. For me she can lipsinc every go'damn song. - (Sorry.)

 

She worked sooo hard to perform so fantastic. I can only praise her for that! And she did not lipsync anything and even if she did .. give her a break! What she has been through in the past year and then come back like this.. RESPECT

I think it's the song... All I hear is "You set my heart on fire, feel me with love, made me a woman, on clouds above. I LOVE YOU RENE!"

I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!

She was talking to a fan in the audience, saying that she was happy to see her, it might have been Ramona because she was sitting in the front row of my section.

Well, it's my time to leave Vegas. It was nice seeing so many fans at the show and I hope everyone enjoys tonight's show. If you haven't seen or heard it yet, you're in for a treat!

Ok, I have now listened to the whole show twice. Here is my verdict:

 

- I Drove All Night: Really tired of this being part of the show, would much prefer an instrumental intro that leads into the opening song.

 

- I Surrender: Very strange choice for opening song, doesn't really flow after IDAN. Yes it makes a very bold statement and shows her vocal power right from the get go, but I feel it's quite dark as an opening number. However the vocals were fantastic.

 

- Where Does My Heart Beat Now: Glad to see this song kept in the show, shame it's not the full version but the video montage is absolutely fantastic.

 

- Because You Loved Me: Very well performed, although I wish they would shake up the opening sequence and put this song later in the show. It could go anywhere really.

 

- It's All Coming Back To Me Now / The Power Of Love: Great medley, nice to have a slightly different arrangement.

 

- Jazz interlude: Fantastic, flows well into next song

 

- Mr Paganini: Glad they kept this cover as it gives Celine vocal freedom.

 

- Quand ca balance: Very unusual choice but it actually makes this whole 'jazz/brass' section worthwile. Before we had Paganini / Lullaby / The Reason which was a disaster. It's nice to have some continuity this time round.

 

- The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face: Great to see her doing an 'album cover' rather than a random cover for her 'baby segement'. Interesting to see her performing the shortened version like the LTAL Tour & TAST special, although this time she repeated certain lines?

 

- Beauty And The Beast: Nice song and well-performed by Celine, but would like to see maybe another early hit done at this point.

 

- Barnev solo: Nice to see it's not spinning wheel, but I don't understand why they can't do something else for the interludes. Why can't Celine record a fun video for the screen while the band play an instrumental to one of her songs like Shania does in her shows?

 

- Immortality: Fantastic, just beautiful. I presume the Bee Gees video was the one that was used during the LTAL tour? It's great to hear this song again.

 

- All The Way: Perfect, Celine always sings this song perfectly.

 

- If I Can Dream: Brilliant. After having lipped to the studio recording on American Idol, I was worried that this would be playback, but actually it sounded pretty live to me.

 

- Acoustic Medley: Finally! Celine has been needing an intimate segment like this in her shows for years. I hope she continues to do this in all future shows, obviously changing the songs to keep it fresh and allow us to hear her songs in a different style. Great to hear ANDHC & TTWII again.

 

- Incredible: Needs to be cut immediately. It never worked live and probably never will. It's a song that doesn't really go anywhere. I would much rather hear LMBTL, WAAF, Thankful or Didn't Know Love.

 

- Unison: Great addition, nice to have an interlude featuring all 3 backing singers.

 

- Love Can Move Mountains: I feel this needs to be integrated better with Unison as a mashup. We know from AND that these two songs can work well together with the band and backing singers, I would much rather have a mash-up and then see Celine joining everyone at the end of LCMM like she did in the Millennium Concert.

 

- River Deep Mountain High: Although it's nice to see LCMM/RDMH moved up away from the end of the show, this song has had it's day and should have been put to rest at the end of the TCWT.

 

- All By Myself: Nice to hear a new arrangement and a new high note (in the style of the album version, no less). But after the uptempo songs it does not really fit in here.

 

- The Show Must Go On: Absolutely fantastic, although I feel this should be the last song before MHWGO, or even the opening number.

 

- Uptown Funk: Brilliant, finally something modern.

 

- Kiss / Purple Rain: I enjoyed kiss, but wasn't a huge fan of Purple Rain. I felt this was all too much, certainly as a last song before the encores.

 

- My Heart Will Go On: Great to have a live performance after 8 years, but I have to say compared to her 90s/2002 performances this lacked a lot of power, particularly in the second chorus. I hope she continues to sing it live because eventually she will get used to singing it again and it will become much easier for her.

 

- Somewhere Over The Rainbow: Nice to have a song after MHWGO, and it was beautifully sung, but I wish we could have had TCOML with the piano instead.

 

 

 

Overall, it was a fantastic show and a huge improvement on what we had before. Obviously it's impossible to cater to everyone's wishes, but I do think there are still a few tweaks that need to be made regarding song order just to improve the flow.

Your posts are one of the few i am reading here, because they have a higher level of quality but i disagree for Incredible. I love it and i am SO glad they kept it :wub:

I'm in awe of it, too!!! I love the Richard Strauss violins they added and the Balmain green minidress was the perfect one for it!! I love it!

there is so much to be in awe, maybe we forget :giggle: but this is quite beautiful . The orchestration with classical music(an idea from Celine) is original. And the voice , the emotion, much better than the TCWT.

Loved incorporating Strauss, Freddie loved opera and classical music. Loved the fact celine sang the final line so it was different than the tour version, and much more powerful. And I'm actually in love with the green dress!😀

I'd love the studio version of this or even more,for Celine to rerecord it with this newer ending with Brian May and Roger Taylor playing on the track. OMG!😃

But I have to admit i don't like the spirit of this first show. "It's not a new show, it's the beginning of a new journey", it's shocking. It's like René would already passed away. He's alive, but it's like he already was away, don't you think that? "Somewhere over the rainbow", "Immortality"... come' on he's ALIVE and we all hope he'll be better soon !

 

I have to agree that speech was a little odd, however, I think this is Celine accepting the future. Rene is not getting better. He is dying. This is Celine thanking him for everything they've achieved together and celebrating their favourite moments. I also think it's Celine's way of accepting the end is near.

You can't tell really well from this video, but when I saw the LIVE feed, I heard her clearly say, " Thanks so much for singing with me, your making happy". Before he medley she told the audience that she's going to sing some older songs that she hasn't done in awhile a little differently, and please feel free to sing with me.

When I saw "Cèline: Through the eyes of the world" in the cinemas at they end when they showed the credit they played " The Show Must Go On" studio version. So one exists but has never been released.
