Popular Post scielle Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:16 AM Popular Post Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:16 AM I must say, I'm really very confounded by the general dismissal towards "covers" around here. Why the hate? A great song is a great song, regardless who originally recorded it. Why does the original recording artist have such bearing on the audience here liking / not liking the song? I just don't get it. I mean, the Power of Love, All by Myself, Falling Into You, River Deep Mountain High, and plenty of others - all "covers" that Celine undoubtedly made her own. Do you want her to stop singing those, too? Where do you draw the line? I just fail to see the reason everyone's so up in arms about this. Personally, I'd much rather hear Celine reinvent great, quality classics than sing some of the original material on her English recordings (some of which is, at times, pretty uninspiring, IMHO.) She's an unmatched interpreter of song, and I'd love to hear her tackle more tunes that we haven't yet heard on record. I mean, that's kind of the point of a live show. The surprise element. The joy of discovering something in a way you've never quite heard it before. Otherwise, why not just buy the album? Anyway, I say more "covers", PLEASE! 8

And every single cover she did last night was amazing. Purple Rain was a fabulous surprise (Still don't quite understand why it was included, but she sounded awesome and like she was having fun.). Show Must Go On -- amazing arrangement, powerful interpretation -- such a powerful message coming from her at this moment in her life, in particular. And Over the Rainbow -- that has got to be one of the hands-down best renditions of any song in her entire career. Who cares who else sang it? It was absolutely perfect. 3
chocolatechip15 Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:27 AM Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:27 AM I think the arrangement for "The show must go on" was AMAZINGLY done! It made the song way, way more enjoyable then when she performed it on the TCWT. I was pleasantly surprised by it, I have to admit I wasn't looking forward to it but it was stellar! Ditto. I didn't like the TCWT one at all, but I can't stop listening to this. 2
streep101 Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:29 AM Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:29 AM Thanks for the bootleg!
québecflower Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:37 AM Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:37 AM She does!!! I can't understand much, because of the nature of the song and her accent. With 3 years of French under my belt, I can understand songs like JSP, JNVOP, PAMP, and CQMTA. Very Un-accented French and very easy to understand -not with this song! Lol it is just because she sings very fast, and it is not a Quebec accent , more a special way she has to say the words, a twist to give a special rythm to the song, i barely understand myself. 3 Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....
CelineDionFreak Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:37 AM Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:37 AM So I was thinking... The yellow dress with her hair totally reminds me of ANDHC time frame? Right? I just kinda see it! lol! I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!Le temps qui compte pour Celine est maintenant!

That's true! She goes very fast. Even if I spoke French... I couldn't sing it lol! I listened to the other versions of it, and she seemed to slow it down. But I LOVE this arrangement! I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!Le temps qui compte pour Celine est maintenant!
québecflower Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:39 AM Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:39 AM (edited) Wow, I can't believe I just read that. And frankly, found it downright offensive. But to each his own I suppose. All I know is I'd be heartbroken if they cut Mr. Paganini from the show. This should rightfully be a Celine staple. I can't wait for Sony to finally release that studio version with Herbie and Christian and Terri Lyne.and it is now better , more refined, smooth. No exageration, nothing to impressed, but just the pure joy of singing. broadwaybaby34 Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:46 AM Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:46 AM Thank you for the bootleg Tyler!
CelinesDIVO5 Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:48 AM Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:48 AM Do you guys think that there will be more surprises that they actually will change the setlist maybe weekly, or monthly??? Because for me, I don't really like the setlist and I actually wonder where's the new song from her English Album except Incredible. Where's Thankful, Breakaway, Always Be Your Girl, I Didn't Know Love n etc???? and why there's a lot of Covers in her setlist?? Celine said that she will sing more of her song, but there's still a lot of Covers. I really wanted them to change the setlist, Mr. Paganini should be removed. It is so lame. This is not the revamped show if they still include Mr. Paganini. I Surrender as the opening number, i don't think it suits to open the show. I know they might think that Celine is known for her vocal, that's why they put I Surrender as the opening, to show her Vocal Ability. But, try to imagine if I Surrender is sang maybe half of the show, people will be more excited to hear the intro piano. I have the instinct that this new setlist is not the final setlist for this new run. For MHWGO, it is fully LIVE version, but I dont prefer Celine to sing it like a rehearsal as to show that she is singing it Live. I prefer Celine to just sing it live like the playback version but just add on several adlibs. As for the acoustic medley, it is too short and uptempo. I love how they did the acoustic version for MHWGO and BYLM in CBS 2002, and TPOL, IYAMT in Oprah 1997. I'm also sad that she didn't sing I Love You, but prefer to choose that lame Mr. Paganini.. The joy of discovering something in a way you've never quite heard it before. Otherwise, why not just buy the album? Anyway, I say more "covers", PLEASE! I think it's important to distinguish the difference between an "album cover" (TPOL/IACBTMN/ABM) of a lesser known song than it is a "show cover" of a song more well known. Most fans wouldn't discriminate against album covers as heavily as show covers because the bottom line is they are much more Celine inspired and what SHE is known for. This time around, I don't have complaints - if it's a cover, it better be damn good. The Show Must Go On, I Got The Music In Me, It's A Man's World, Quand on n'a que l'amour, Over The Rainbow, Prince Medley...these are covers that are worthy of being in a show. Rolling in the Deep can be added too I guess. These are covers that just fit with a Celine show better. Maybe it's the high notes? Maybe it's that it's more uptempo... songs like Nobody Does It Better, I Wish, World On A String, Twist and Shout, Stayin' Alive, At 17, Overjoyed, and a bunch of others were just complete snoozefests or just had little to no "wow factor" - that wow factor is what people look for in a cover, NOT a cheesy karaoke interpretation. And the biggest reason for a dislike of covers is this - Celine is one of the best selling artists of all time - why does an artist of such stature need to sing 1/3 of her show out of someone else catalog? A cover or two before the encore or typical for most singers and bands, making a whole show out of it is not. Edited August 29, 2015 at 03:51 AM by Tyler1991
chocolatechip15 Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:54 AM Posted August 29, 2015 at 03:54 AM Lovely article (even though the author doesn't seem to know that Immortality is a Celine song). It's from the Las Vegas Sun - NOT Robin Leach: http://lasvegassun.com/blogs/kats-report/2015/aug/28/all-herself-not-celine-dion-who-soars-return/ 1

Angel2006 Posted August 29, 2015 at 04:02 AM Posted August 29, 2015 at 04:02 AM Was there any meet and greets last night? Also, Was there any celebrities in the audience other then Julie Snyder? I saw a rumor on here that Goren Ramsey was there and that Britney Spears was going to go to the opening show. Where any of those celebs there? If not, I wonder who went. I don't remember seeing any pics of celebrities. I only saw RC, Therese, Denise, and Claudette. I'm not 100% positive, but I think I might have seen another pic from last night with Linda and Manon in the background. It was the one where RC was inside the theater posing with some girls. It wasn't clear, but it looked like a blurry Linda and Manon off in the distance? Other then that, the only celebrities I noticed in pictures where Julie Snyder, Robin Leach, If you can call him a celebrity and that tall blonde girl he was with. Did anyone see any other celebs opening night? I find it odd that we didn't see pics of any famous people at the premiere. I didn't see any pics anyways. I wonder if we will get any meet and greet pictures tomorrow?

CelineDionForeverNY Posted August 29, 2015 at 06:35 AM Posted August 29, 2015 at 06:35 AM O_o This is exactly why I posted about how I was upset at people complaining about the setlist... People are treating last night as just some other concert... Like Celine said, this is not just a new show. How do people just ignore the fact that this show was for Rene? 4 http://i.imgur.com/dQ1vYVz.jpgMais qui peut dire, qu’il peut vivre sans amour, qui?
celinemaniac07 Posted August 29, 2015 at 06:46 AM Posted August 29, 2015 at 06:46 AM Everyone...lets keep the idea of pressing for a release of this opening show on audio and dvd..this would be the perfect show to release officially...it was perfect in many ways...even Celine's team said this was one of her best all time performances...so it makes sense to release it for many, many reasons. Lets keep the momentum going!!! It can happen 3
