I'm just generally bothered by the [sony?] assumption that the US (and other on-francophone territories) don't care about her French catalogue. Why, for instance, is D'Elles and Sans Attendre still only available in the US as an import? Not on Spotify, Pandora, videos blocked on YouTube... how do you expect people to discover this stuff?

 

I mean, give us some credit, Sony. It's a global village, America speaks more than English. I for one am a Celine fan because of her French catalogue, not the English stuff, and this with French being my 3rd language. So it irks me to no end that Sony won't even make it available to us - clearly it won't break any sales records, but how can making content legally available in more territories hurt, especially if you're not spending any marginal dollars to get it out there. This is no longer the age of physical distribution where they'd need to move volumes of units to make it worthwhile. I just don't get it. (And by the way, same comment goes for the general lack of French songs in Celine's US shows - I really wish she'd do more).

 

And same goes for releasing all this other legacy content. They don't need to make a big marketing hoopla about it! Production, distribution... all these things are cheaper than ever, and if the stuff is already filmed, in this day and age post-production costs are minimal, so why let it all collect dust. It's the marketing that costs a bundle. But if Sony clearly doesn't expect it to sell big - then why not just forget the marketing spend and make it available to the (few) of us who are more than willing to pay? There's obviously a willing audience. These big labels are so antiquated!

Yes I'm so bothered as well you just post my thoughts exactly why wouldn't let people discover her French songs. It's freaking ridiculous same thing with the videos on YouTube its sickening.

I just played Qui Peut Vivre Sans Amour? just fine. And while typing this PTQME & Je Sais Pas played fine too. And Sous Les vent & JNOP played fine for me yesterday. They were on repeat while I was at work. So it must be individual music videos, and where you live in USA I guess. I did make sure they were Celine Dion Vevo videos. So Idk...

Many of the French videos do work in the US. But a fair number are blocked. I don't remember which ones right now. And you can't get Sans Attendee or D'Elles on iTunes - have to order it from the website.

I don't like her hair this long anymore!!!!! Love her hair those first few nights of the new show, and where she flew to that beautiful Andrea Borcheli show. and Rene was in Boston, she flew straight back again. That hairstyle.

I love her hair this length. I don't care either way though. I like it a little shorter or a little longer, but I love it this length aswell. I think it's my favorite length if I had to choose. It just gives that extra elegance. Celine with long wavy hair, flowing down her back is just so glamorous in my opinion.

I just wish it wouldn't happen to SA. And after bringing back TLDH, I or JNVOP they've realised that these three albums should also be remembered.

Talking about that, I'll always wonder why she sang only 1 song from 'D'elles' during the TCWT. When the 'Taking Chances' album came out in late 2007, she said that she would tour the world to perform her two new albums...

I thought D'elles was an excellent album, Well written with great melodies and voice.

I wish she would use those songs more. I don't recall anything from it being used in live concerts ever. And that's so sad.

What wasted opportunities.
