Today I share two rare performances. In 1994, Céline came to Europe to promote 'Des Mots Qui Sonnent' in France as well as to continue with The Colour Of My Love Tour.

 

Here she performs Think Twice (only time she performed the song in France?) and Ziggy. Now I think this could perfectly be from September of 1994, coinciding with her concerts at the Olympia theater.

So I was watching En direct de l'univers with Yann Perreau last night, and one of the songs they did was Belle from Notre Dame de Paris.

 

It reminded me how obsessed I was with that show in the late 90's and how much I wish someone (hello, Netflix, you there?!) would make a movie-musical or live TV musical version of it. And while the English translation paled in comparison to the French, at this point I'll take anything.

 

And to reminisce, here's a bit of NDDP from Celine -

 

And for those of you in London, a guy I use to do student theater with (who is now a Broadway producer) is currently staging a production of it in London. In original French, with English subtitles.

Sadly this song never had to much recognition...me included had no idea it came from Notre Dame for years! and the video does not help if you have no idea the context. too bad, I love this song, at least she sung it a couple times on stage

You can read the synopsis here ("Vivre") but basically it's Esmeralda's last love-lorn "aria" of the show; nothing much happens

why did she do a concert there in 2000? Was it because they've already planned her residency there and there was more to it than we officially know?

Hahah, just came across this! Mariah Carey is still trying to throw shade Celine’s way with regards to the 1998 Divas Live performance. For 20 years she’s been using the excuse that she was respecting the Queen of Soul when it was fact she simply couldn’t bring the goods 😂😂

She did the song (playback) at least a couple of times, at the Tapis Rouge show and another one for TF1 network.

Shame she doesn't sing it anymore, could be a great addition.
