Again the acting opportunity must have been so close. Jeez I'd love to know what happened as to why it didn't happen!

 

Meh, I don't know... these things are often much talk, very little walk.

 

The Callas movie she was attached to over a decade ago is still in development purgatory. By the time the script landed on my desk (around 2010/11) it had already been rewritten numerous times and Celine was no longer involved - I don't remember who was attached at the time. Then several years ago in Cannes there was a star and a poster - and years later, still nothing.

 

The RBG biopic I posted about in another movie originally had Natalie Portman attached - and she's the one who had it delayed so they could find the right female director. And they did, but then Natalie ended up dropping out.

 

Most movies spend years in development, and something like 90% never make it to screen, even if packaged (i.e. with financing, key cast & crew attached). Project fall apart for all sorts of reasons - creative differences, availability of key cast & crew at the right time, lack of distribution, tax credit regime changing in one of the co-producing jurisdictions (and therefore financing packages falling apart), etc.

It's more common than you think.

I think she can deliver as well, more than deliver. Things happen when they're supposed to and I think this is the perfect time for Celine to finally crossover into acting.

I still consider a remake of Victor/Victoria a great movie & role for her to begin with.

Comparing the bootlegs before and now.. I think before was better than now.. Maybe the production is really better on A New Day Show than now (sounds).. It sounds way better..

I don't want to be called a negative person but it's a shame that it's the same songs from her English catalog for the last 800 years..... It really makes me sad.

It's not negativity...it's the reality. It is a shame that she sings the same songs over and over again. Honestly i can't listen to some of them anymore, just like she doesn't want to sing them anymore.. As fans that watch everything that goes online, it's pretty understandable that we've had enough with this specific repertoire. But then you think about the casuals who just go once or twice to hear and watch her perform, and you understand that she "has" to sing these songs because most people just know or mainly like these ones. However, she said many times that now she just wants to have fun on stage and sing whatever she wants (You're the voice for example) and that she doesn't care if she sings correctly or w/e. I hope that after LV ends she will start doing, every now and then, some concerts singing different songs of hers or even songs of others that she loves and mean something to her. I know that she will never stop performing her biggest hits..but i hope that she will at least replace some others.

I don't like it either.

 

But we are still very lucky, example Cher and Diana Ross really have the exact setlist for more than 15 years now. They add maybe 1-3 'new' songs but that's it.

 

Celine still gives us more, but yes they also missed a lot of opportunities

Yeah, but both of them are 70+ years old, which basically means they started doing that when they were 55-60 years old. Celine just turned 50. Anyway, doesn't really matter. Personally i'm glad she is still performing and i have the chance to watch her even from Youtube. But most of all i just want her to have fun on stage and do what she likes. If this is what she likes then so be it. I will just keep skipping BYLM, POL, IACBTMN etc :P

I agree. We complain. But in reality compared to the other legends celine gives us much more.

 

I remember a few months ago i made a post about the number of songs she has performed in the last 3 years and it was about 80. Most others are at 25 maybe?? Yes newer artists might be up there but celine really especially of late has done great at delving back into some different songs.

yes exactly. Let´s just wait and see which songs will be added in her future concerts in 2019 and so on. There will be great surprises, that´s for sure

I really miss the original hum in My Heart Will Go On... like this. I’m not a fan of what she’s doing right now at the end of MHWGO. It should be like this again.

The truth is...her Vegas audience is not paying to hear her sing "Water from the moon" or "Everybody's talkin'my baby down"

Ergo...we are stuck with the same cheesy setlist for evah!...well maybe until Vegas is kaput. Her last tours setlists were more "for the fans" last year she even did "Zora Sourit", hello!
