You are just a pessimistic ray of sunshine...

Why pessimistic? I couldn't care less if she is no1 for 100 weeks or doesn't enter the charts at all.

You guys have an excuse for everything and postpone the success or any kind of change.

How many complaints about the setlist in Quebec ? ...how many posts " wait until the english leg".. well here we are. No one was blown away by what they have brought.

Things are what they are and stating them doesn't mean being pessimistic.

You can turn it the way you want to. Here is a fact : 1 month after the release of 3 news songs. Where are we?

Imperfections got a MV and it's on 4 Itunes charts. 4! So don't tell me I'm being pessimistic.

Now people will come up with another excuse ...( after the "we need a MV"...). Those who doesn't like the song will say "song is bad thus the flop". Those are the ones who still don't understand that quality has nothing to do with success...

But the real ??? to me is how a wwd superstar like Céline just can't hold on to the top2000 (2000 guys! Not top 10! 2000! ) of ALL the countries on earth after 1 month.

All right, there is no radio airplay but again she announced a world tour, she sold a lot of tickets along with the release of these songs. And yet it looks like she was dropped by everyone.

This is not bashing her, this is a real question. I can't explain it. Really. To me it seems impossible but yet it's the reality. She is nowhere to be found on any charts of the world.

Needed to be said! Especially your second and third lines... But these guys will keep finding an excuse for everything, and finding some reason to excuse the disappointment, and always a reason to keep waiting for her "next step".

:thankspin:

Barbara Streisand used to top the charts.... so did. Cher.... and Paul McCartney, Elton John... know what they both have in common? They’re not 25 anymore! Times change and the novelty, or “x” factor, wanes significantly. They are handed a crown and told “congratulations, you are a legend.” But even with a fresh coat of paint, they aren’t very likely to have a high-charting album . Will they sell out stadiums? Absolutely, because everyone wants to say “Once upon a time I saw _______ sing their greatest hits!” Just accept it and move on :)

P.S. you also have to remember that at a younger age, Céline was more driven to succeed. Her promotional tours pushed her to the brink of exhaustion. Can you imagine her doing that now with a throat virus? I think not! Part of aging is slowing down. Another part is getting comfortable with your lot in life and not fighting to change the status quo. How many times has she said “I have nothing left to prove?”

Cher is still topping the charts. She just did with her ABBA album last year.

Rod Stewart did too...

These pals are both past their 70s. Celine is 51. But she hasn't topped the charts since ages ago because she just has had no interest and an extremely bad strategy and lack of support from her team. Not because she couldn't. Just saying...

Why does it sound so weird to you ? Even in her prime she wasn't that much a hit or radio maker.

So if Madonna, Mariah and all the others get difficilties to get airplay/charts now, even when trying that hard (like very hard in comparison to Celine), how can it be different from Céline coming from even a harder background ?

The only thing that could help her is a collab and apparently they didn't even dare to do that so.

Cher’s ABBA album peaked at 2 in a few countries. So did LMBTL (number 1 in three regions) which was only blocked from number 1 in the US because Eminem also released a long awaited album. Legends tend to peak well within the top 10 on the charts with albums; but they don’t stay there very long.

If you expect a Celine single to hit the top of the Hot 100 you probably know very little about the music industry... It's now all about streaming and the reason why veteran acts don't get hit singles.

But wait for the album charts. Celine will be in the top 5 in many countries. She was with her last French album... maybe you forgot that part on purpose?

Cool. But I hope you know that Celine is no longer performing in Vegas... :P

That’s why they chose ‘Fade Away’ 😆

Commercially wise it is weird for me that Ashes is not included in the album as the song has still some good Spotify streams and MV views, which would translate in the album chart placing if the song was included.

But then I understand that there is an overall common theme throughout the album, hence a searched coherence (at least based on the 4 songs heard so far). It is meaningful (and daring).

Kuddos for that. ^_^

Well, Ashes certainly fits the theme of the album. In fact, it pretty much defines it.

If not on the album, I'm certainly surprised it's not at least part of the tour.

Isn’t it clear that the album have only the name in common?

"People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."

- Céline Dion, 1990

Wasn't Ashes released on a different record label? That might be the reason why it's not on Courage.

I do wonder what they're going to do for album promo.

Clearly the journalists who were there in Quebec and Montreal already heard half the album, but weren't allowed to discuss it. Or not yet, at least, so they may release "part 2" of many of those interviews, once the content is unembargoed.

Or, will she do a new round of interviews with some of the same outlets? Or others who didn't get a chance the first time around (more likely)?

Probably some morning shows, some late night shows, an award show or two (I guess it looks like she might show up at the PCAs... I imagine the AMAs, too.) Much of Celine's base audience - certainly those who still buy albums - are still the TV-watching crowd, so that's where I expect much of the focus to be. Hopefully some magazine features, and hopefully we get more than the one video.

I just hope whatever it is, is substantive. Less ET & Extra fluff, and more thoughtful, long-form interviews like those we got in the last month or so.

If i remember correctly some German press was in Quebec for the interviews so supposedly she will have already recorded some of the international album coverage.

American Awards (which takes place after the re-scheduled Montreal shows) would be a good platform and I suspect she may attend due to how was done the rescheduling. The "see you soon" at Kelly Clarkson may hint to the fact she will attend it too.

What could be a real interesting platform is SNL but I somehow doubt this time.

Then maybe there will be a second wave just after she ends her December show (last one on 14/12), hence leaving a week of promotion during the Christmas sales.

Yeah, I don't get that with her. Celine: 'Oh I loooovvee this song soooo much!' But then it never sees the light of day.

Regarding the tour, totally agree. It would have made sense to include Ashes for this tour as being her latest hit (oddly though as it almost did not chart but has somewhat made waves enough to be remembered - like I'm Alive did previously in the USA: did not chart but still being a strong legacy in the USA ; conversely to Think Twice ; which makes me always wonder why in relatively comparable situation the consequences may totally differ. :hmm: ^_^ - maybe for IA due to the fact that the song was performed in AND show in Vegas (?)

For the album, I did not express myself correctly. I was more referring to the fact that it is so attached to the Deadpool movie (Céline being asked to sing this song for that movie) that somehow it could be perceived as not within the album construction per se.

Don't waste your energy trying to explain what everyone else (except him it seems) understood from the beginning. Veterans artists can still top the album charts, but not singles charts as they are built today (streaming and radio airplay that don’t play artists over 40). Although, wasn’t EUS single #1 in every French market?

Celine has outsold every one of her peers with each releases for years now, the only reason she misses #1 in many markets sometimes is because she always releases English albums in November when all big names do. But in actual album sales she outsells most of them.

I think It's too messy with both those logos on the album cover. I'm happy they didn't use the Courage tour logo for the album. The design is not that great, honestly. To me it looks like someone's basic handwriting.

Yeah, the Deluxe edition is about 70:37 mins long and the standard edition 56:57 mins.

That means there should be a few short tracks on it..
