I'm not sure if people have mentioned this yet, but the announcement that she is coming back strikes fear in my heart. Only because I think it means Rene is definitely going to pass within the next year or two.

 

He wants to see her perform one last grand show before he dies :'( The way she says "walk this road" in the press conference after the Billboard Awards only reaffirmed this impression.

 

I honestly don't know what to say: Seeing her breaking down to tears in the 'Good Morning America' interview last March made me think the worst, but she looked so happy and optimistic at the Billboard Awards... It's quite confusing, but hey, let's hope for the best!

I think she feels relief that she finally spoke about how bad it was but now he has stabilized and they can focus on her return.

 

You know how sometimes you have something bottled up inside and then you talk about it and a weight feels lifted off of you?

Yeah, but to play devil's advocate we haven't seen her for a year, so obviously she has had time to make her "peace" (although realistically that word doesn't apply for anyone who's close to a cancer battle) with it. I have a bad feeling about it all, but I don't pretend to know anything.

She said Rene is doing fine though. Why would she lie about it? I am following your process of thought and what you say makes sense, but I find no reason for her to come off as everything is fine when it isn't.

 

Actually, the feeling that I got out of her interviews is that last year she needed the break because she was both uncertain and in shock. It was a whole new situation she had to learn to deal with. As time went by this situation became her daily routine, a part of her life. She dealth with it and now she knows how it goes and what she is supposed to do. This, along with Rene's request to make a comeback (...and the contract that is still running - something we all seem to forget), is a solid reason for her to go on with her shows. At one point I think she said ''now we know'' which confirms the difference between what is going on now to what was happening last year. I really hope I am right in this and that his health is under control.

Well none of us knows exactly what is going on and neither should we. It's not really any of our business.

 

That said, if Celine says that he is doing well then I am willing to believe that he is doing well whatever that means in a longer context. I think that needs to be taken at face value and we should look on this as a positive that he is clearly doing better.

Exactly. And she also said "we know what he's got to do, what treatments " . She wouldn't be back if Rene was still struggling and the prognosis was unclear.

Well , I just wanted to say that I've watched shania twain Las Vegas DVD and the show is really great , I don't want to say it's better than celine but it seems that they really have a huge production on that one ,like the effects ,the videos before she sings on the big screen and everything really ,so each song is connected to the the real videoclip of the song ,like horses on stage and fans sitting next to her around a fire place , it's really fun you have to watch and see urself ,I hope they give that attention in terms of everything in Celine's new show ,that's really a big competition she's doing ,cause also jennifer is coming and for sure it's going to be something really big Edited May 24, 2015 at 12:29 PM by artistman2007

You are very right. For a long time it was just her. I mean, acts would come in but just for a short run. She says she is not in competition with these women but she really will be. She downplays her competitive side but, c'mon, she has to have one!

That's the thing though. Celine can sell 4000 seats every night based on her voice alone! She doesn't need theatrical gimmicks to get people into the show.

 

Remember the feedback they got during "A New Day..." was that whilst the scenery, screen and acrobatics were impressive, most people were there purely to see Celine and that's why for the last year of the show Celine was more front and central and the show had a more "concert" like feel.

exactly as ur saying wether someone agree or disagree there is competition ,I mean they are all in vegas and all in the same category ,so we don't want someone for example to say oh I went to jennifer lopez and it was really fun and energetic but celine was really boring ,cause I know for celine its more about singing but also u know people like to see more things going on (these days it's not only about the voice but also looks and eye magic ),especially that we all know that celine as well sings alot of songs in playback during the show . Ok, guys seriously I love celine so much ,I know she is taking chances as she say all the time but sorry for me I don't see that she's so brave of taking chances in terms of live concerts (titanic sung in same way for a decade),I mean it's a good start that she's singing more songs of her own although I believe it's supposed to be the whole show with celine songs and if she likes a song or two not her songs it's ok but enough promoting already successful songs all over ur career ,the other thing we fans love everything that u do take chances as ur saying ,shock us and shock the whole world and we are ready ,every song u have celine must be performed in different style and new arrangements ,that is the time ,we know she is a perfectionist but I don't want to here the same song as I hear it on CDs ,from(love can move mountains ,because you loved To my heart will go on there have to be changes because it's getting booooring,even the cheesy arrangements they have done to love can move mountains and I'm alive during vegas and the tour are more than bad,especially love can move mountains I hate how she sings the part of (if u believe in love love love love love...,I mean it better if she just said it like on the voice or the real song like (if u believe in lopppoppove and then echo echo ) but with different arrangments like make it faster and more beat ,also they took off a lot of good instruments like main instruments that makes the song really good ,but I can't describe it ,any way bottom line change change we are ready ,every body does that madonna ,Rihanna even whitney ,I know what I'm talking about ,she used to sing live all the time with different ways but not trying to sound like the cd like singing each word and not trying to add any other feeling or word ,sorry but I wish she could listen cause that comes from love.

My heart will go on is a perfect example: the album version is sooo much better. I never really liked the arrangement they have been using for years now.

I don't like the guitar in it, the softer drums in the second part. Bring the song as we know the song - the album version - or change the arrangement and surprise with your 31 piece orchestra that is not used to their full potential. I think the change of the band might be a good change and maybe we get better arrangements too.

Love can move mountains is a favorite song of Celine and then she dabbadooh's and love and plays weird with her voice. I can't stand the song any longer.

I agree with you there needs to be more than 40 percent change. That is not enough. Get rid of ALL the covers and replace them with songs from your amazing repertoire. Tons of songs to choose from! Some great songs have never been performed live so why not do those songs and breath in new life into these songs! Surprise the audience! Btw we are talking about songs that people know. So why not add the fenomenal Think Twice, add That's the way it is, add the radio version of a new day has come, add the beegees on a big screen with immortality , add Il Divo- I believe in you, And with Christmas use that orchestra and bring All Ye Faithful instead of Open Arms? Then You look at me needs a new life too, esspecially with this big orchestra avaliable. And the argument that people want to hear this or that song... For Madonna it's the same , people want to hear that song or that song, but they always get a mix of new songs and reinvented older songs. And the people keep on coming, because hey she is Madonna.

I'm so glad that a lot of you guys feel the same ,I've been waiting so long for a change but nothing happens ,it's like she gets comfortable and learn something and just keeps doing it allover again ,I didn't want to talk for so long because I know there's a lot of defensive people that would say think that by just being defensive about anything that's said is the best thing for celine but no sometimes we have to say what we feel for her to be the best of the best,and by the way I think we no better than those managers loool ,I really do (i mean only in terms of songs and what we want to hear and other few things) ,and believe me i think that if she did that she herself will have more fun on stage and it will not be boring for her doing the same list everyday with no change ,I remember Rihanna sang umbrella each award with a different style ,also the way from singing one song and going to another song try to play with it ,take us on a tour of remixes that we didn't expect from all ur albums .just do it, even the clothes why wear the same clothes every day just play you are playing ,everyday you can wear somthing different so have fun and don't be boring,I really hope someone can reach for Aldo and tell him all that . I know we don't have the information -- but do we think Celine will make a few big appearances/do some more interviews before the first Vegas show? Or do we think she'll start the shows and THEN start doing more interviews?

 

I hope for a few BIG unexpected appearances. Like on Late Night shows, award shows, etc. I imagine anything she does will be in LA or Vegas. So what shows would she feasibly appear on?

 

Can you imagine Celine at an MTV Awards show? Looking sexy like she did at the Billboard Awards???

Hmm...I honestly thought the worst too. I'm thinking that because I heard Celine now has a contract until 2019, that Rene isn't close to the end? I don't think they would have a contract for that long considering that Celine took time off for his health. I'm sure that if he passes, she would take time off to be with her kids and to just emotionally relax.

 

I could be wrong though because considering Rene's age and the conditions that he has had, even if he doesn't pass away from cancer, he could pass away from now until 2019. I know that sounds completely and totally negative but it's true! So it could be that they made some sort ofa greement with Caesars so that if something does happen to Rene or anyone in their family (face it, death can hit anyone int heir family...just like it can hit anyone's family!) then she is allowed to leave and do this and that through the support of Caesars, of course.

 

BUT...let us try to stay positive and just be happy that she is returning! She hinted to the people at Billboards about a world tour and I remember her saying a while back that she would never do a full world tour again like what she did for Taking Chances since it was so tiring, so it's nice to hear a different view on it now.

Let us just stay positive and be happy that Rene is part of the planning process and if he is gravely ill and just wanting to see Celine on stage before he passes, then so be it! It's extremely sad but we still need to be happy for them.

Rene could be totally fine and just still battling cancer, but hey! He can over come it and still live a very happy life despite the repercussions of his treatments.
